Body Harvest was intended to be a Nintendo 64 launch title, but was delayed due to its original publisher, Nintendo, having issues with the game's violent themes, and eventual dropping of the title, leaving DMA to find a new publisher. It was eventually published by Midway Games and Gremlin Graphics in September 1998.
DMA, the company who created Body Harvest, went on to become Rockstar North, who are known for creating the Grand Theft Auto series. The vehicles in the game are the correct time period like in Greece 1916 Harley-Davidson J aka Riley 150 and the Großkampfwagen or "K-Wagen" (short for G.K.-Wagen) was a German super-heavy tank, two prototypes of which were almost completed by the end of World War I. Also in Java 1941 The Jagdpanther (German: "hunting panther") was a tank destroyer built by Nazi Germany during World War II based on the chassis of the Panther tank. It entered service late in the war (1944) so the tank in the game could not have existed in 1941 let alone in Java area. The P38 twin boom aircraft in the game just entered production in 1941 and the Gyrocopter was in its infancy during WW2. In America 1966 a number of vehicles was correct for time period except for the Flying Saucer in military base was fiction also it interesting to note in one of the buildings there is a moon landing mock up which means that moon landing of 1969 was staged. And in Siberia 1991 level several vehicles like underwater tank was fiction the Spectre was British Harrier av8b and doubtful that British gave soviets harrier technology and the tank is actually based on a Soviet T55 MBT and the APC was The BTR-80 bronyetransportyer, literally meaning "armored transporter") is an 8x8 wheeled amphibious armored personnel carrier (APC) designed in the USSR. Adopted in 1986 and replaced the previous version.
