Storyline
Did you know
- TriviaThe character of Selma Hearst Rose is played by real-life Hearst family heiress Patricia Hearst. Although in the show, the source of the fictionalized "Hearst" family's fortune is a chain of retail stores instead of the publishing empire owned by Patty Hearst's grandfather William Randolph Hearst, this episode contains several references to the real Hearst and her family history. Selma asks Keith Mars if he knows how it feels to be at the center of a national scandal, just as Patty was during her kidnapping, brainwashing, and crimes. Selma's husband is named Budd Rose, a reversal of the key phrase from Citizen Kane (1941) (based on William Randolph Hearst's life). And Patty Hearst's character being named "Selma" is even an oblique reference to her own name, "Patty," since "Patty and Selma" are the names of Marge's two constantly paired sisters on The Simpsons (1989) (Veronica also mentions Simpsons characters Mr. Burns and Smithers during this episode).
- GoofsWhen Keith and Veronica break into Selma's mansion, it's nighttime. In the next scene, it's daylight.
- Quotes
Dick Casablancas: Okay, I'm so not supposed to be telling you this, but it's 'way too good. So not only did Chip get Kojaked, someone put a Roman numeral in one of those little plastic Easter eggs and stuck it in his "where the sun don't shine" place. And you know where that is.
Veronica Mars: Worst Easter egg hunt. Ever.
Dick Casablancas: Not a banner day for Chip Diller. He had to get one of the brothers to help unpack his suitcase.
Veronica Mars: What was the number?
Dick Casablancas: What?
Veronica Mars: You said there was a Roman numeral in the Easter egg.
Dick Casablancas: You're missing the point.
[British accent]
Dick Casablancas: They put it up his bleedin' bum!
Veronica Mars: Which kinda speaks to the number being significant, don't ya think?
Dick Casablancas: I guess. I don't know what the number is. It wasn't a baby shower! We didn't all sit around waiting for him to open the egg so we could see what he got!
