I love watching the Vitaphone shorts and when TCM scheduled this one, I was sure to watch. Why do I enjoy them? Well, they are a time capsule through which we can see and hear the musicians our parents and grandparents and great grandparents enjoyed and it brings them to life.
Efram Zimbalist Sr. was a famous concert violinist and here he is performing with Harold Bauer (on the piano) as they play a piece by Beethoven, from the "Kreutzer Sonata". The set is very simple...like you'd expect in the earlier Vitaphone shorts...and this is a very early one from 1926. In fact, many folks watching this piece likely were seeing AND hearing a film for the first time.
Overall, it's competent though not especially memorable. Other than a chance to see Efram Zimbalist Junior's dad as well as a very early sound film, it's skippable unless you are really into the Vitaphone films.
