This year’s 79th Annual Golden Globes awards ceremony wasn’t televised or livestreamed, and has never been seen by anyone other than those in attendance for the show on Jan. 9 at the Beverly Hilton. Until now.
The Hollywood Foreign Press Association has shared with Variety three excerpts from the 2022 ceremony, which opened with HFPA president Helen Hoehne and featured representatives from educational and philanthropic organizations — recepients of grants from the org — as presenters. Despite the lack of any at-home audiences, the show was still produced with the sheen of a full-fledged telecast, as directed by Patricia Lowry and produced by Neil Mandt, Michael Mandt and Matthew Brady.
The Mandt brothers, whose credits include “Jim Rome is Burning” and “Destination Truth,” spoke to the Golden Globes website about the show: “This is certainly a unique year,” Michael Mandt told the org. “We knew the challenges given the timing considering the world’s Covid situation,...

A quick update from Capcom shows Monster Hunter Xx (Double Cross) heading to Nintendo Switch.
Capcom updated theiir official website with the new listing showing Monster Hunter Xx on the Nintendo Switch. No futher details have been revealed just yet.
The good news is we probably don't have to wait for E3 to hear more about this one. Instead The Monster Hunter Championship event is taking place this weekend which is where we can most certainly hear more about the upcoming game.
Xx is an expanded version of Generations which released for the 3Ds in 2016 for Na, and 2015 for Japan. We can expect this to have a similar situation where it releases in Japan first, and following regions later. It is unclear when we will see it so far though.

Back in 2011, Capcom producer Ryozo Tsujimoto announced that there was a big screen adaptation in the works for their video game franchise Monster Hunter. Director Paul W.S. Anderson has been interested in developing this property for years, and now it looks like he's going to make it!
Anderson directed the original Mortal Kombat film and the Resident Evil film franchise. This seems like the kind of film that he would want to make.
In case you're not familiar, Monster Hunter is a series of fantasy-themed action role-playing games that all started in 2004 on the PlayStation 2. The game centers on a hunter in a fantasy world who embarks on quests to hunt out specific kinds of monsters to kill or capture them. When talking about the basic plot of the film, Anderson said:

On January 27, Resident Evil: The Final Chapter will close the book on Paul W. S. Anderson’s lucrative live-action series once and for all, but it seems the writer-director is already beginning to plot his next creative venture.
It’ll involve another project sourced from the video game industry, according to Deadline, as Anderson and producing partner Jeremy Bolt have entered negotiations to jump-start Monster Hunter at Capcom. First announced two months ago by series stalwart Ryozo Tsujimoto, Anderson is now in possession of the first script, and expressed his desire to engineer a new long-running film series based on Capcom’s fantasy RPG. An early synopsis teases, “an ordinary man in a dead end job discovers that he is actually the descendant of an ancient hero.”

The word “cryptozoology” conjures images of intrepid explorers, Indiana Jones-style zoologists who search for legendary creatures in exotic locations, and strange beasts from forgotten epochs of history that somehow survived into the contemporary era. Bigfoot, fairies, and the Loch Ness Monster have all been subjects of cryptozoological investigations. Midnight Society: the Black Lake #1 plays on both the imagery conjured by the word and touches on the two latter subjects of investigation mentioned above. Frankly, issue #1 sets the stage for what could be a great series for fans of shows like Destination Truth and In Search Of …, or readers of comics like Madame Frankenstein or the recently released Mythic.

Ready for a spin-off from the Monster Hunter series? Capcom announces the RPG Monster Hunter Stories for Nintendo 3Ds...
The Monster Hunter series is already one of the biggest in Japan, and Capcom's looking to take it in a new direction with the spin-off, Monster Hunter Stories for the Nintendo 3Ds.
Its concept is an adorable one: you play a young hunter who can ride around miniature versions of the fearsome creatures from the main Monster Hunter series - in the first trailer below, you can see the hero leap on the back of a Rathalos.
Although largely comprising cinematic footage, the second half of the trailer seems to show us what the game itself looks like, and the draw distance on the open world looks highly impressive if so. The trailer also shows off the game's cel-shaded anime style
Monster Hunter Stories is still "in the middle of development" according to its producer,...

Finding a huge amount of success on portable systems, and also doing pretty well on the likes of the PS2 and Nintendo Wii, the Monster Hunter series is a firm fan favourite, especially for those looking for a hardcore, action RPG challenge. Reality shows that delve into the paranormal are a huge portion of the Syfy programming pie. Ghost Hunters, Haunted Collector, Destination Truth, the list goes on. And on. And on. So does Syfy's slate, already busting at the seams with this type of programming, have room for another one? If the show in question is [...]

The Monster Hunter franchise, originally established in 2004 on the PlayStation 2 by Capcom, has been a license to print money in its home country of Japan for some time now. While Capcom has brought many entries in the series overseas, it’s never truly caught on the same way. This isn’t stopping the company from putting out the latest entry though in the form of Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate, an enhanced Wii U and 3Ds port of the 2010 Wii entry Monster Hunter Tri. In it, players will find a lot to do, but at the cost of some clumsy controls and a slow buildup, it may not be for everyone.
Players create a custom avatar, choosing from different hairstyles, clothing and body colors, and even different voices for the various grunts their player will make in battle (There’s no proper in-game voice acting). From there, they start their journey in...

Today's featured cryptid is a reptilian twist on rural monster lore: where the Sasquatch and Yeti legends (and their many regional offshoots) involve sightings of an ape-like humanoid lurking in the wilderness, suggesting a possible ancestor to modern primates or even a close relative of humans, the “Lizard Man of Scape Ore Swamp” is also described as man-sized and walking upright, but with unique features resembling those of an alligator. First reported in the late '80s, the creature has been allegedly sighted numerous times, and has now become a figure of pop culture among many of the residents of Lee County, South Carolina. Beginning with multiple sightings in the summer of 1988, the most consistent description of the Lizard Man is his incredible strength and aggressiveness; many accounts describe him attacking cars in the area around Scape Ore Swamp, sometimes inflicting severe damage to the vehicles with his teeth and claws.

If you thought Paranormal Activity was scary, get ready for "Stranded," a reality series from Syfy that premieres on Wednesday, February 27th, at 9Pm (Et/Pt). We have all the details on the show and a few sneak peeks.
Synopsis:
Created by Josh Gates ("Destination Truth"), "Stranded" is a new reality series that documents an unconventional – and terrifying – paranormal and psychological experiment. Each episode features the self-recorded footage of a diverse group of everyday paranormal enthusiasts - from newlyweds and a brother-in-law to a trio of roommates.
Each team of three will be stranded at one of the most haunted locations in America and record the entire experience with hand-held cameras, creating a suspenseful, completely unscripted first-hand account of each group's stay. Over the course of the confinement, the group will cope with increasingly pervasive feelings of fear and desolation, resulting in an experiment that represents a unique combination of psychology and the paranormal.

It’s true; no matter what certain networks may claim about their “winter finales,” winter doesn’t actually start until December 21, and isn’t over until March 20. Syfy, at least, understands this, and has announced their appropriately-titled winter schedule accordingly.
Happily this means that, starting on Monday, January 14, 2013, we will have some great television to get us through the cold months, including the return of Being Human and Lost Girl, and the premiere of Continuum, and later in the week, the return of Ghost Hunters and Face Off.
Here’s the schedule of premieres, along with series synopses:

The creepiest part about the "Destination Truth" (Tue., 9 p.m. Et on Syfy) season finale may well have had nothing to do with the supernatural at all. The team traveled to Echo Valley in the Philippines where they saw hundreds of coffins bolted to the sides of cliff faces.
A local tribe intentionally suspends their coffins there, so nothing they were seeing was particularly unexpected. It was certainly unusual, though. Despite warnings that the valley and the cliffs are haunted, the team climbed a cliff to see what they could find.
Not surprising, they found skulls inside coffins, and hundreds of coffins. All of this was to be expected. At one point, they thought they heard the sound of a coffin opening, while a photo they took at the site had some strange lights on it, which they think might be a spirit.
All in all, the trek was a...

We can't think of a better way to end the work week than with a healthy dose of the paranormal, and if you agree, here are sneak peeks of next week's episodes of "Destination Truth" and "Paranormal Witness" on Syfy.

It was a genuine witch hunt on "Destination Truth" (Tue., 9 p.m. Et on Syfy), as the team headed for an island off the coast of Sweden. The island is thought to be a gathering place for witches, as well as a haven for spiritual presences. There have been hundreds of documented encounters.
So why not have one more? The team did indeed experience some strange phenomena, including an Evp recording that seemed to be a demand. Upon multiple playbacks, they deduced the voice that could be heard was speaking the Swedish words for "Leave now."
The most damning evidence was something truly unusual, and something Josh Gates said he'd never seen before. A strange light was caught on camera, seemingly walking across the frame.
"This thing has a very weird profile," Gates said of the walking light. He believed the evidence they'd captured certainly supported the legends that had cropped up around the island.
