- Lou is still giving Pauline and Arthur a hard time. Lofty is out of pocket. Mary's suspicions about her flat are confirmed, but it is worse than she thought.
- Pauline tries to take a cup of tea up to Lou, but Lou just lies in bed and ignores her. She then says to herself "take more than a cup of tea, a lot more" but then starts flipping through the brochure about Clackton on Sea - which is where the holiday that Pete booked for her and Michelle is.
Back downstairs Arthur announces "this is going to be a perfect Sunday". He tells everyone that they have to watch what they say and that, as a family, they are going to be devoted to making Lou happy, whether she likes it or not. Mark is told to put on a clean shirt and then he and Sharon are to go and pick up the beef from Pete and Kath's for the special Sunday dinner.
Mary is sitting in the launderette holding Mary. Tony comes in to do washing and strikes up a conversation. He tells Mary he has two children and Mary tolerates him 'coochycooing' at Annie, even managing a smile.
Lofty is at Ethel's trying in vain to get the 10 pounds she owes him for The Golden Circle. Ethel is humming and putting on her best wig, and claims to have had her teeth especially sharpened in readiness for the beef she is going to have at Lou's Sunday dinner. She hasn't sent her letter off so Lofty ends up loaning her another 10 pounds so that she can.
Meanwhile in the café Sue, in her usual unsympathetic way, says that Mary must be off her trolley for sitting in the launderette on such a cold day even though Mary has told her it is warmer than her flat. Ali tries to get out of cleaning the cooker by flipping a coin but it doesnt go his way. They talk about Ali being banned from The Vic and Sue says she will try and get him back in that night.
Kelvin walks into the launderette and he and Tony admire how each other are dressed and then organise to meet outside the Vic for "their Sunday" in 15 minutes. Tony says they are going to get far away from the Square for it. They meet up after Tony has a drink in the Vic and Tony is very excited and loud, but Kelvin is much more subdued and Tony still hasn't said where they are going.
Arthur has gone for a walk out of frustration of dealing with Lou who was taking her time to get ready and insisted on making her own way at her own pace to meet up with the others at The Vic for drinks before dinner. Pauline has another go at Mark for not coming home the night before. Mark claims to have been to a disco in the West End, but when Pauline is out of earshot, Michelle tells him he was seen up West with Nick Cotton.
At the Vic everyone is having a good time and Ethel offers to buy everyone a drink with Lofty's second 10 pound loan. Arthur pulls her aside and schools her on how to talk to Lou about the old days to try and help get Lou to go on the holiday to Clackton. Meanwhile Ian and Michelle try to go to the café but it is closed for spring cleaning.
Tony and Kelvin talk while walking at a lake. Kelvin indicates that he may want to stay with Tony now that he and his mother have split up. Later he says it more clearly but Tony wants him to think it over carefully.
Sue visits Mary at her flat and although the conversation starts off nice enough, Sue ends up telling Mary about Reg Cox being murdered in the flat, and that they haven't caught the murderer yet. Later she gives money to a reluctant Mary to keep an ear out for Hassan. Ali is with her and they lie and say that they have business to do. Ali doesn't realise that Sue has told Mary about Reg's murder.
The dinner goes well and everyone is having a laugh and talking about old times. Ian is prompted to ask Lou about the holiday and she agrees to go. Then she summons Ethel, who is reading tea leaves with a concerned look on her face, up to Lous room for some privacy. Later we see a very tired Ethel lying down on Lou's bed, but Lou insists on her getting up and going with Lou to Bingo and then to the pub, and indicates that she hasn't finished giving Pauline and Arthur a hard time.
Kath and Ali turn up at The Vic and Sue insists that if Nick is allowed in then Ali should be too. After Ali apologises, Den and Angie say he can come back on a weeks license and Den tells him to leave Nick Cotton to Angie if he hassles him.
Lofty finds out that Ethel has not only spent his second 10 pound loan but has loaned another 10 pounds off Lou to join her Golden Circle.
The episode ends with a smiling Lou drinking to her Easter holiday in Clackton with Michelle and to her new grandson " 'cos thats what he is gonna be, gawd bless him, so, cheers all".
