Watch it if you are watching the series for the first time, but skip it otherwise

Just a filler episode of clips. Not worth watching more than once, and it isn't even required to be watched once. In my opinion, this is the worst episode of Scrubs.

Think about it people....
dopeydave989 January 2008
Yes, it's a clip show... Yes, it's a bit lame... And yes, it's not what one would of expected from Scrubs...

However, let's think about this shall we.

Clip shows are put together because the creators do not have the time to write a brand new episode. There are a few negative reviews on here from so called "fans" getting on their high horse and ranting that they are disappointed that Scubs has gone down this road of "laziness"... they've sold out... become like all the other inferior shows... The Simpson's did it first... blah blah blah...

Do those same fans think an episode as brilliantly original as My Musical is put together in the same time period as a regular episode...? My guess is that the regular weekly filming schedule had to be preceded by a week of rehearsal with the choreographers... hence the need to put something together quickly to fill the gap...

I'll put up with the downside of a clips show if the upside is a My Musical...

Boo Continuity
erintpa329 April 2007
Warning: Spoilers
The only reason I am commenting is because I finally figured out why Dr. Cox was bald. Although we probably all realized it at the same time this week, Dr. Cox is bald because they showed these episodes in a different order than they filmed them. The latest episode when our favorite grumpy, Jesus-loving Nurse Roberts dies Dr. Cox shaves his head. The must have showed them out of order for some odd reason and forgot they slipped up the continuity. For shame, Scrubs. They've made mistakes like this before. I remember when Elliot is trying to date Scott Foley and her hair is wet 2 seconds before water hits her. I try not to notice these things, but my favorite show needs to step it up.

Truly Disappointing...
Nicodemus8613 March 2007
This season gets more disappointing every episode. With this episode as ultimate disappointment. Look at season 1 and especially to season 2 and 3 and compare... Where are the strong plots, where are the surprising endings, where are the deep messages embedded in those seasons episodes? I really hope the quality will improve again from now on, because for me, this was the most disappointing scrubs episode in the history of the series, that is why I am commenting.

Don't get me wrong, Scrubs is (or maybe 'was') one of the best series (I won't call it a sitcom) I have ever known, but this is a sign that it might end up very bad for this series, especially when Zach Braff will leave after this season. (which is not sure yet, only a rumor)

Let's hope for an improvement and a couple of blasting, touching and deep ending episodes for season six, so that Scrubs can continue to be made for another 3 or 4 seasons or so, on its old, season 2&3-like level of complication.

Dont listen to the critics, really dont !

People love to hate , they only leave comment when ghey hate an episode, but for the Great episodes not comments. This episode is a best off of all the best moments from scrubs , it was a night for JD to remember the first 6 years at Sacred Heart, getting ready to keep going. Well done , also I love the way JD talk about sitcoms doing clipshow when the writers are too lazy , hahaha. Clip show are a sitcoms tradition and its great, deal with that haters.

How to not do a clip show
AWMPerry25 February 2009
There are no spoilers in this review. There's nothing to spoil.

No plot, nothing; most clip shows at least try to tie the clips into the plot by some tenuous stretch, but this didn't even do that. Clips, three lines to lead into the next interminable sequence of dull clips... OK, so perhaps they were short on production time, but they'd have been better off skipping this episode entirely. What a waste of time.

I'm not sure how this got made, in fact. Scrubs is usually much better at subverting tropes, but somehow this got through....

Thank heavens they were back on form by the next episode.

Disappointing
emmaguy19 April 2007
When 'My Deja Vu, My Deja Vu' aired last season, I was pleased. Scrubs, I thought, is doing something clever and unique in regards to the clip-show concept. Instead of replaying footage, they're replaying jokes in a self-aware manner, and I really enjoyed it.

I found it really unfortunate that I was wrong. One season later, they succumbed to that which almost all sitcoms inevitably do, the clip show...and it looked like it was put together by the work-experience kid. Dr Cox's shaved head shows just how lazy the editors were in putting it together, as it doesn't appear again until 'My Long Goodbye' some 4 episodes later. I can't imagine that a wig is too much effort when it comes to maintaining the continuity of what was once a well-constructed sitcom. Who knows why it was slotted there, it just seemed lazy and out of place, reminding me (largely) of episodes that have aired within the past year.

Three second clips jammed together with background music is a DVD extra for a (very) rainy day, not an episode of prime-time television.

Worst episode ever
aw08314 March 2007
Warning: Spoilers
I debated as to whether or not I should tick the spoiler box. Since 99% of this show has probably already been seen by any follower of Scrubs it probably doesn't come under the category of a spoiler.

Clip shows. Grrr. We all knew Friends was going down the tube when they started with clip shows...and five and a half years into Scrubs they've gone and fallen down that hole.

I have to wonder if the writers just couldn't be bothered writing that week and just said to themselves "let's show the other funny stuff." It didn't work.

For starters, showing all the times that people have fallen down isn't funny when taken out of context. It's not funny to see Todd dangling by his banana hammock unless we know WHY he was dangling by his banana hammock.

Second, for what was supposed to be a compilation of JD's fantasies, one was Turk's dream, another also wasn't his fantasy, although I forget which.

And that's the problem. This episode is totally forgettable. We've seen all these things before. And the collection of clips of people dancing? Why? That's not funny.

Finally, I must admit two of my favourite Scrubs moments were shown in the last compilation...Dr. Cox realising that Ben died...and JD telling him how proud of him he is.

But even seeing those moments again didn't save the episode. The summary says it all.

Worst episode ever. Bill Lawrence, PLEASE don't let your show go the same way as Friends, keep it fresh, keep it funny...or wrap it up.

Good soundtrack, but you can't distract from how bad clip shows are
thegoodmantg8 September 2019
I mean, come on. People will be happier if you air a static image for 90 minutes that just says "I'm shamefully unimaginative."

The only way to make a clip show that isn't utter trash is to use the same cinematic style, but with all new clips. That's it. Stop trying. Doesn't work. No.

Flashback episode.... unforgivable
Dacrab7 March 2007
Truly bad and easily the worst episode I have ever seen....ever.

They tried to make up for it by giving it the, 'we know we are doing this' routine. That would have been funny if it weren't for the fact that 'The Simpsons' had already done it. And it still wouldn't make up for it if they had come up with the idea in the first place.

The flashbacks took place as part of the usual character's (mainly J.D's) fantasies. The flashbacks weren't even of actual events that occurred, just compilations of say, J.D falling over or, i don't know.... Elliott falling over. If I wanted to watch a Scrubs compilation i'd go on youtube and not waste half an hour of my life.

Scrubs has ultimately fallen into the trap that most sit-coms have to, and it disappoints me, they managed to go 5 and a quarter seasons without an episode like this.

I was hoping that scrubs wouldn't have to be that kind of sit-com.

And just as a passing thought, why the hell was Dr.Cox bald?

music from the episode
mahjacat2 April 2007
I thought it was not the best re-cap episode I've every seen (though my viewing partner handed me a tissue in anticipation of the Brendan Fraser moment...*sigh*). It was nice to see Cox outside of the incessantly brittle "Coxism State" he is in these days, if only for brief moments. I also enjoyed trying to place the episodes included by the length of the character's hair (or height, in case of JD) and the youthfulness of the earliest episodes. I can also see how Zach might be well on the way to a very Chevy Chase/or is that Matthew Perry? prat-fall induced chemical slide (already acknowledged on Conan). A little side note, the song (now stuck in my head) from the janitor-induced dance montage was "Diner" by Martin Sexton.

A very Scrubs clip show!
liam9499 October 2011
Yes it is a clip show, but it's done in a Scrubs, tongue in cheek way. JD even talks about 'killing a couple of minutes. It shows us all parts of Scrubs' themes, happy, sad, funny ones that make you cry. It also has a great soundtrack that helps change emotions. Songs from Joshua Radin and The Fray give an ordinary clip show a very 'Scrubs' feel. Although the clips from old episodes are put there randomly, it shows us how the characters have grown. The clips don't help the story line and were put in random, but they give the episode classic Scrubs humor. Overall, people shouldn't take it seriously and have a bit of fun watching it.

You need to think about what's happening in real life!
dcbluedog23 March 2007
Yes, although it was a bit poor to put a clip show in mid series, people need to think - "Where's Jordan been the past few episodes?" She was pregnant in real life and seeing as her husband produces the show, If my wide had given birth I wouldn't be in the mood for creating a new episode when I've just had a new baby - so before you ditch the show - some people do have lives you know!!

I was also wondering what happened to Cox's hair, but if you notice - his hair is all grown back in the next episode, so they probably created this clip show before the season in planning for the fact they would be busy with the birth.

I think season 6 hasn't been as well received as the other seasons, but I think they've done it very well - they're all moving forward and the show itself is maturing and the story arcs are getting good!

Scrubs Rules!

Not the best episode, sure. Worst ever? Nah
Prime637 July 2007
But, lets face it... it got a few nostalgic sighs out of me.

The show is just so consistently great that it is allowed to have a few hiccups. I get a new season, and just power through them like I have 2-days to live. I like the idea of wrapping it up, but it was much more of an end of season episode which would explain the following:

Dr.Cox isn't supposed to be bald for a couple more episodes, only explanation I can think of is they changed the rotation of the episodes or had to re-shoot the beginning.

and that my friends, is why the hell cox is bald.

Anyways, the show is awesome...bring on the 7th season.
