Fans have mostly loved David Benioff and D. B. Weiss’ HBO series, Game of Thrones. Having said that, recently, rumors have been circulating about a potential Game of Thrones Mmorpg in the works by Nexon, the company known for the video game, The Finals.
Set in the North between Seasons 4 and 5, with Winterfell and The Wall as the main settings, the game has generated interest among fans of the well-known series. Notwithstanding, despite the hype, Nexon has not yet confirmed the existence of the game. And for some fans, it is actually causing them to become skeptical and disappointed.
The concept of a Game of Thrones Mmorpg is not new; there have previously been several games based on popular TV shows and movies. However, with a new rumored game on the horizon, fans wonder why MMORPGs are coming up with the most cringe-worthy game designs.

In under a month, fans will be able to get their hands on Hellblade 2, a game that feels more ambitious than the first installment. However, although Xbox players got the unfortunate news that the sequel will be locked at 30 Fps on consoles, PC gamers waiting for the launch still have no idea what specifications it’d require to run smoothly on their platforms.
It’s a worrying aspect because most developers reveal these kinds of details this close to the release date, and the concerns can only be taken care of when Ninja Theory shares the Hellblade 2 PC requirements.

The Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 PC requirements remain a mystery even when the game is less than a month away from being released.

Love Triangles existed before they became a staple part of cinema. Whether it is Gone with the Wind or the Twilight saga, the classic trope has been a fan favorite, before Zendaya’s Challengers came around and made the trope even more pristine, to some extent at least.
Star Wars’ Luke and Leia in a still from the Star Wars franchise
While some might call it toxic, others outrageous, that is the turn that George Lucas’ Star Wars nearly took before Lucas went on to change it. If you remember the incest kiss between Luke and Leia and the horror that every fan faced after it was revealed they were siblings, it would be shocking yet somewhat calming to know that the duo weren’t supposed to be siblings originally.

Everyone knows that Taylor Sheridan is truly one of the greatest legendary masterminds in the entertainment industry, having created not only the epic Yellowstone show but also a series of spin-offs that serve and will serve as its prequels and sequels. But did you know that one of his spin-off series even beat the blockbuster Game of Thrones saga in one aspect?
Taylor Sheridan in Yellowstone.
As it turns out, this is only true, especially when talking about his most recent spin-off show 1923, which will soon be spawning a second season that was delayed due to the strikes. And as hard as it may be to believe, Sheridan is pretty confident that this particular series of his has managed to surpass even GoT when it comes to the budget its first season has been created on.

Game of Thrones creators met with George R. R. Martin for the first time in 2006 to discuss the possibility of making Martin’s best seller A Song of Ice and Fire into a series. Martin revealed that he was approached by other directors who wanted to make his work into a feature film. However, David Benioff and D. B. Weiss shared the writer’s desire for a series adaptation and even answered his questions about his novel.
Game of Thrones creators D. B. Weiss and David Benioff answered George R. R. Martin’s questions right to make the series happen
The creators’ answer to one question may have eventually made the epic fantasy series possible. While Martin did not reveal whether the creators answered it right at the time, they shook hands on the project right after that meeting and were in business with HBO.

Taylor Sheridan may not have much to show for his decades of acting career but slaving away at the Hollywood mill did teach him a lesson or two. He then used these lessons to bring Hollywood down to its knees. Churning out award-worthy original content, prequels, and spin-offs at an ungodly pace, Sheridan makes sure the studios perk up as soon as they hear his pen scratching the surface of a paper.
Taylor Sheridan [Photo: Crystal Wise/Fort Worth Magazine]However, Sheridan’s start at the frontlines of television and streaming was not inherently without its flaws. After suffering through an ordeal while securing a platform for Yellowstone, the director encountered and overcame massive obstacles in closing the series arc. His future spin-offs have been easier to pull off, but Sheridan once came incredibly close to losing his deal with Harrison Ford.

The finale of Game of Thrones aired almost five years ago, and since then HBO has been developing a multitude of spin-offs, prequels, and sequels to fill the void.
So far the only one to come to fruition has been House of the Dragon, which had the difficult job of drawing us back to Westeros after the disappointing end of GoT left most fans uninterested. Many doubted that the show could do the job, but they were quickly proven wrong – viewership for House of the Dragon started high and got higher as news got out about its quality. The first season holds a 93% on Rotten Tomatoes (Season 8 of the original series has 55%.)
But not all ideas are going to make it, and recent details about the Queen Nymeria project 10,000 Ships prove HBO might have been right to axe it.

Thor, the God of Thunder, is one of the most beloved and fan-favorite characters in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. While fans love his comic book iteration more, Chris Hemsworth’s live-action Thor is not far behind. After several appearances and four solo movies, Hemsworth’s Thor has a separate fan base among the Marvel fandom.

Yet, he is not the only actor to have portrayed Thor. Thor, the Marvel character or Nordic God, has made several appearances on-screen, whether it is in live-action or animation. Making a show in Westeros is no joke — there are dragons and battles, princes and princesses, gold coins and iron throne. Therefore, one can only imagine the production budget helmed by Game of Thrones. But what if we say that Taylor Sheridan surprisingly beat the HBO show with his Western spin-off 1923?
Taylor Sheridan in an interview with CBS News
While David Benioff and D.B Weiss’ Game of Thrones overall performed better than 1923, Taylor Sheridan significantly surpassed the show’s budget with his Western drama. Casting for Netflix’s reality competition series Squid Game: The Challenge was a unique challenge: finding 456 diverse and international lead characters.
Casting director Erika Dobrin described the gargantuan task by saying, “I don’t think that’s ever quite been done before on the scale it was done here.”
The Netflix series, based on the streaming’s mega-hit Korean survival drama Squid Game, saw 456 contestants compete for a massive $4.56 million prize through a series of challenges. When Game of Thrones wrapped up its run after eight seasons, it seemed it had ruined any chance of a spinoff due to the poor fan reaction to the final season.

The HBO series Game of Thrones is deemed as another entry in the long list of TV series that captivated audiences for years. However, while fans have appreciated the show for its grandeur and mesmerizing storyline, the series finale turned out to be quite disappointing for most. And seemingly George R.R. Martin began dreading this very problem after season 5.

This particular approach that the show followed after season 5, began worrying George R.R. Martin. The author’s representative, Paul Haas, thus opened up about Martin’s thoughts on his behalf.

George R. R. Martin is best known for writing the “A Song of Ice and Fire” series of books. This series then went on to inspire the popular Game of Thrones HBO series. His fans would also know that he worked with game director Hidetaka Miyazaki on FromSoftware’s Elden Ring. This game too became a sensation, just like his previous work did.
This successful game really put FromSoftware way up in the list of game studios that can hardly do anything wrong. It is without doubt an incredible open-world game that gave soulslike fans a whole new world to experience. Elden Ring went on to be one of the most successful soulslike games out there and FromSoftware’s most successful game yet. Still, after getting so successful, George R. R. All FromSoftware games, Elden Ring included feature some of the richest and rewarding lore in gaming. Hidetaka Miyazaki has a knack for creating worlds that are equal parts intimidating and intriguing, pushing players to explore every corner while knowing they could meet their end at every turn.

"Who is Matilda Wormwood if not Carrie White without religious trauma?" This is a joke I made when interviewing "Abigail" directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett for the /Film Daily podcast after complimenting them on their decision to cast Netflix's "Matilda the Musical" star Alisha Weir as their titular ballerina vampire. "Matilda" is one of author Roald Dahl's most beloved characters, offering children both the fantastical wish-fulfillment of having telekinetic superpowers, as well as the ever-important message that reading is cool. The 1988 novel has been adapted multiple times across various media, most notably the 1996 feature film directed by Danny DeVito and starring Mara Wilson, the two-part BBC Radio 4 special, the stage musical featuring music by Tim Minchin and Dennis Kelly, and the Netflix film adaptation of said musical.

HBO has officially canceled its Jon Snow sequel project. Good news for fans of the Stark bastard? No. Good news for Game of Thrones fans? Yes.
Hear us out.
It Would Have Been A Hit
It's pretty much guaranteed that viewers would have tuned in to a Jon Snow sequel. Because the show would have taken place directly after the events of GoT season 8, it had all of the fan-bait that usually draws viewers: the comfort of well-known characters, the promise of cameos from old favorites, and a backstory we're all familiar with.
Heck, I hated the GoT finale as much as anyone else, and I still know I would have tuned in for at least the pilot of a Jon Snow series. I mean, does he stay in the North? How does he get over the death of his aunt/lover? Does he still know nothing?
But after two years of development,...

The cinematic journey of Hiroyuki Sanada and his contribution to the fusion of Western and Eastern storytelling have been nothing short of remarkable. Fresh off the heels of his presence in John Wick: Chapter 4, Sanada’s Shōgun success has been a cultural touchstone. But does this success guarantee his quick return to the producer’s chair?
Sanada is involved as a producer and cast member of the acclaimed FX limited series. With a career as dynamic as the Japanese actor’s, his keen sense of storytelling speaks volumes. Indeed, his dedication to cultural integrity and his case-by-case approach to production roles serve as a deliberate blueprint for his future endeavors in the film industry, as he enjoys shaping narratives.
Hiroyuki Sanada as Lord Yoshii Toranaga in Shōgun
But, despite his success with Shōgun, Sanada’s desire to create from scratch as a producer may not be realized in the near future.

The world of Game of Thrones has always been an eventful one, irrespective of the fate that befalls the characters and the gruesome incidents that traumatize the viewers. But even for the audience who comes from a background of having read A Song of Ice and Fire, the HBO series could get a little daunting due to the nature of its transgressions from the original text.

Years later, the author, who noticed one such transgression, himself let his wrath be known for a line that was crossed by the actions of his own characters. In one radical change instituted by the creators of the HBO show, an incident that was fairly harmless in the books was transformed into a horrific plot device.

When John Bradley met with David Benioff and D.B. Weiss about their new series “3 Body Problem,” the first thing they told the “Game of Thrones” actor is that they’d written a role in the sci-fi mind-bender for him. Quite literally. “They said, ‘It’s as close to yourself as any character you’ll ever play,’” Bradley says. “It’s kind of a daunting prospect. It’s a bit like you’re going to see yourself drawn by one of those caricature artists on the street. I’m going to find out what these highly perceptive, very bright people think I am as a person.”
The character Benioff, Weiss and co-creator and co-showrunner Alexander Woo created for Bradley — Jack Rooney, part of the “Oxford Five” of college friends and scientists at the center of the series — may not, on its face, seem all that flattering. Jack is brash and blunt,...

Game of Thrones’ overwhelming popularity inevitably led to HBO wanting more TV shows set in George Martin’s captivating world. Countless projects have already been pitched and rejected, but while some of them were questionable at best, others were promising and spectacular even based on their premises — and still ended up in the red-lit pile with the rest.
10,000 Ships Almost Sailed with Grrm’s Approval
One of the best ideas for a Game of Thrones prequel show was 10,000 Ships. In the original TV show, the legendary warrior-queen Nymeria was Arya Stark’s favorite historical figure and the deliberate namesake of the girl’s direwolf because of that. In George Martin’s lore, Queen Nymeria is among the most interesting characters.

The Lord of the Rings trilogy is one of the most iconic fantasy series of all time. Being the adaptation of the beloved J. R. R. Tolkien book series of the same name, it brought something new during a time when the genre was already full of magic. On top of the excellent cast, the films have been regarded as masterpieces, featuring excellent cinematography and magnificent world-building.

In recent years, we've seen more and more news of book-to-film adaptations getting TV remakes. Examples include His Dark Materials, Percy Jackson and the Olympians, Interview with the Vampire, Reacher, as well as upcoming high-octane adaptations like Twilight and, of course, Harry Potter.
Some of us see this pop culture phenomenon as a miserable exploitation of once-popular franchises, while others are thrilled by the success of the aforementioned reboots. But what few can argue with is the fact that in 2024, technological capabilities have improved and the series can accommodate much more detail than the movie.
That's why the upcoming Harry Potter show could be a great opportunity for a long-awaited depiction of one of the best moments in the book that was barely touched on in the movie.
New Harry Potter Show Already in the Works
In April 2023, Warner Bros. officially announced that J.K. Rowling's fantasy novels would officially get a new live-action adaptation.

Getting ready to hit the cinemas pretty soon, David Leitch’s The Fall Guy starring Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt is kicking it off on a good note. Though the movie is still a week away from its official theatrical release, the first reviews are generally promising and The Fall Guy can even boast of a solid 88% on Rotten Tomatoes.
Despite all the stars aligning for the film’s success, not everything in the upcoming comedy is that funny — and one single joke currently makes the first viewers crash the entire movie.

Whether you liked the ending or not, Game of Thrones was undoubtedly a major hit for HBO, and many critics, despite everything, still regard it as one of the best series of all time, especially within the fantasy genre. The second season of the spin-off House of the Dragon, which is going to premiere soon, is currently the main focus of the production studio, but we also know that there will be more series in the future. A prequel series titled Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight is currently in the works at HBO, as you might know, which is going to serve as a prequel.

After the end of strikes, agents, managers and producers quickly moved in to assemble high-profile packages to take out in what was expected to be a frothy marketplace following six months of inactivity. But, while there have been a few bidding wars and big sales with a couple of others pending, the level of demand has not been what many anticipated. The biggest casualty of the tight market — packages with A-list stars attached.
“This has been such a head-scratcher,” one agent said about the situation. Agencies are keeping record of all the star packages that went out and failed to draw interest over the past few months despite the level of talent that has included Oscar and Emmy winners and nominees in front or behind the camera, stars of blockbuster movies and iconic TV series and, in a couple of instances, famous IP. The total now exceeds 20.

Brian Helgeland was one of the writers working on a Game of Thrones spinoff that George R.R. Martin signed off on but one that HBO did not pick up.

Welcome to the island of St Jory, population: one less than there used to be.
A year ago, St Jory teenager Cai Prideaux went missing and the police did very little about it. Now there’s a new sheriff in town in Sgt Grace Narayan (Anjli Mohindra), an outsider with an unbending belief in the letter of the law that’s ruffling feathers among the locals. The islanders, you see, are used to running things their own way. The True Way.
That’s the Hot Fuzz-meets-The Wicker Man premise for The Red King, an original six-part series written by Being Human creator Toby Whithouse and directed by Daniel O’Hara and Lisa Clarke. It’s a crime drama/folk horror mash-up that uses murder mystery trappings to tell a story about religion, insularity and national identity.

Attack on Titan ended on a great note and wrote its name in the history books as one of the greatest anime to be ever made. After entertaining the fans for a decade and making them experience all kinds of emotions, everyone bid goodbye to Eren Jaeger in a feature-length finale released on November 4, 2023. While the manga ended in 2021, the anime took a couple of years to reach the finale.
Hajime Isayama’s ending was not taken on a great note by the fans, so he had to make a few changes before the release of the finale. Even though it proved to be a massive success, there is one aspect that Hajime Isayama wished he could have changed. It might have been his greatest regret with Attack on Titan.

Hidetaka Miyazaki on several instances has been called the master of foreshadowing, as it is something he has done over time with his releases including the Dark Soul series and his latest title, Elden Ring. What the renowned director has lined up for himself is the release of Shadow of the Erdtree Dlc to be released soon, and fans believe it might not be where the game’s storyline comes to an end.

Players who know deeply about Elden Ring’s storyline would know how it has a lot of cliffhangers and mysteries for the fans to solve. Elden Ring is without a doubt FromSoftware’s biggest game yet, and when it launched, it also became their most successful game. This was all thanks to its captivating world and engaging combat mechanics. This game, like most other Soulslike titles, was directed by Hidetaka Miyazaki, but one other big name was also involved with its development: George R. R. Martin.
George R. R. Martin was tasked with developing the fleshed-out lore for this massive soulslike game. He created more of the characters, and he gave all of them a back story. The story then became the whole basis of Elden Ring. Yet, the legendary writer refuses to take credit for this game all alone.

FromSoftware’s Elden Ring greatly builds on the brand’s ranks of Dark Souls. What makes Elden Ring all the more special is the fact that it brings together two of the greatest creators that the world has seen, the beloved fantasy author George R.R. Martin, and Dark Souls creator Hidetaka Miyazaki.

While the game was directed by Miyazaki, the developers roped in the Game of Thrones to write for the game. Obviously, the results were expected to be top-tier and they definitely were on release.

This article contains spoilers for Shogun episode 10.
FX miniseries Shōgun has often been compared to Game of Thrones by fans and critics alike. Both shows present political intrigue, sex, and swordplay, all in within a feudal backdrop. Now that Shōgun‘s 10th and finale episode “A Dream of a Dream” has premiered, however, it’s clear that there’s one significant way in which the two TV properties differ: their budgets.
While early seasons of Game of Thrones had to be thrifty with action, once the show proved to be a hit, HBO opened up its ample wallet to fund some of the biggest battle sequences ever seen on television. Best known for his work on L.A. Confidential and Mystic River, both brilliant thrillers, filmmaker Brian Helgeland is certainly one of Hollywood’s more interesting authors. And while the Oscar-winning writer and director is best known for his work on movies, he has also pitched a Game of Thrones spin-off series to HBO, which was ultimately rejected. Tentatively titled 10,000 Ships, the series was supposed to be focused on Queen Nymeria, the warrior-queen of the Rhoynar, but the idea was ultimately rejected by HBO, which seems to be a very bad move.
Namely, Helgeland has revealed more information about his series, revealing that it would have been an amazing ocean epic, and knowing Helgeland’s writing skills, we’re quite certain that the series would have been amazing. The filmmaker has revealed more information about his planned project, and we are going to bring them here to you.

Game of Thrones, whether you liked the ending or not, was a major hit for HBO, and it is still regarded as one of the best series of all time, especially within the fantasy genre. We know that the service is currently preparing for the second season of the spin-off House of the Dragon, whose second season is going to premiere soon, but we also know that a prequel series titled Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight is in the works and we have recently received some exciting casting updates for the upcoming series.
Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight is going to be a prequel series set within the same world, based on the Tales of Dunk and Egg series, which is a series of novellas written by George R. R. Martin. The series actually focuses on the adventures of “Dunk” and “Egg” (the future...

“The market is saturated and no one would deny that,” the BBC’s natural history boss admitted today, as she explained how she is combatting this with Game of Thrones-style series Kingdom.
Sreya Biswas said the “pretty bad downturn” has hit “expensive” natural history landmarks as much as other genres in production ecosystems around the world.
Commissioners and program makers therefore need to keep thinking about how to reinvent the wheel, she added at the Creative Cities Convention.
“Production costs are huge so we need to think about what a landmark is, how we want to make it and how to interrogate new technology and stories,” said Biswas. “We need to be clever about how we think about what to make next.”
Coupled with the downturn and rising costs, Biswas pointed to the issue of natural history lacking ‘bingeability’, which can be a turn off for the streamers or VoD platforms like BBC iPlayer.

This post contains spoilers for the finale of Shōgun.
Many years ago, when I first finished reading James Clavell’s historical epic Shōgun, I felt slightly puzzled. The novel had taken well over 1000 pages building to a civil war in feudal Japan between the wise Lord Toranaga and his ambitious rival Lord Ishido, and then it stopped right as the war was beginning, offering only the briefest of epilogues detailing what happened next? How was this good storytelling?, I wondered. Maybe there’s a sequel I don’t know about?...
