Hour One.

(O6.24.96)

Live from Charlotte, NC

Your hosts are Tony Schiavone & Larry Zbyszko

There are loud "We want Flair chants" and the show has barely started. Wow.

Randy Savage (Who is wearing facepaint) , Sting, and Lex Luger are in the back for an interview with Gene Okerlund. They comment on the six man tag match at Bash of the Beach. The Steiners & Harlem Heat interrupt the interview and everybody argues with each other.

"Lord" Steven Regal & "Squire" Dave Taylor (W/Bobby Eaton) Vs Public Enemy

Public Enemy wins. This wasn't much of a match. It's amazing how downhill Regal went in the later years of his WCW run.

*

Kevin Sullivan (W/Jimmy Hart) Vs Kip Abee

Abee wins by DQ after Sullivan beat up Abee through the crowd and through the hallway. It's announced that The Giant & Kevin Sullivan will face Arn Anderson & Chris Beniot at Bash at the Beach. If Anderson or Beniot pins Sullivan or The Giant, a member of the four horsemen receives a world title shot. The crowd yells for Flair as Sullivan cuts a promo about Bash at the Beach.

DUD

Thoughts: It was pretty funny to see security prevent Sullivan from throwing Abee into the women's restroom.

Dean Malenko Vs "Hardwork" Bobby Walker

Malenko wins with a Northern Lights Suplex. This was a mess and hard to take seriously. Disco Inferno came down to the ring and literally started dancing in the ring while the match was going on. Malenko, hilariously no-sells it and continues wrestling.

*1/4

Malenko is appalled at Disco's interruption. Disco interrupts him again and says he was stinking up the joint with Bobby Walker. He brags about his gold record and says he's gonna take the Cruiserweight title from Dean at Bash at the Beach. Malenko says he's the man of a 1000 holds, but it'll only take one to beat him.

Eddie Guererro Vs The Barbarian

The Barbarian goes for a suplex from the top, but Eddie collapses on top of The Barbarian and picks up the upset victory. This one was pretty sloppy. The Barbarian throwing Eddie over his head from the top rope was pretty sick, though.

*1/2

Eddie Guerro says he wants a match against the US champion, Konnan. He also says he wishes he was facing The Outsiders at Bash of the Beach.

Hour Two

Your hosts are Tony Schiavone & Bobby Heenan

Arn Anderson & Chris Beniot (W/Steve McMichael) Vs The Rock 'N" Roll Express

Anderson and Beniot win after McMichael uses the briefcase on Gibson behind the ref's back. Joe Gomez runs in to attack Anderson and Beniot, but he gets his ass kicked. Kevin Greene and Randy Savage run down and clean house.

**

Thoughts: This was going pretty swell until the abrupt finish. Wrestlers are feuding with multiple people now, it's a bit ridiculous.

Steve McMichael completely RUINS an interview with Ric Flair with his inept style. The man is embarrassing to watch!

Lord of The Ring

Alex Wright Vs Diamond Dallas Paige

DDP wins after a Diamond Cutter. He also cuts a promo about his match with Jim Duggan at Bash of the Beach. I wish this had gotten some more time, because it was going good while it lasted.

*1/2

Kevin Greene says Steve McMichael souled him out. Greene says the Carolina Panthers are gonna surprise people and kick ass. He says after the season is over, he's going "mongo" hunting for some payback.

"Macho Man" Randy Savage (W/Kevin Greene) Vs V.K. Wallstreet

Savage wins with the flying elbow drop. This match felt so unimportant. The announcers kept talking about the angle involving The Scott Hall and Kevin Nash invasion for most of it.

*1/4

Tag Team Championship (Triangle Match)

Sting & Lex Luger (C) Vs Harlem Heat Vs The Steiner Brothers

Harlem Heat wins the tag team titles. This was an average match. The title change took place while the camera focused on Kevin Nash & Scott Hall coming in through the crowd with baseball bats in their hands. Security rushes into the ring to prevent Hall & Nash from doing any damage. I knew what was gonna happen and I still felt my adrenaline pumping. That's how effective the invasion angle was. It breathed new life into wrestling.

**

It's kind of odd how WCW didn't bring Ric Flair out.
