I never really was a fan of aviation games as flying planes with a controller really needed some experience and time before handling the gears well. But nevertheless, as I am a big fan of WW2 games, I thought I'd give Blazing Angels 2 a go on the Xbox 360. The good thing with this game is that you literally fly all around the world, from France ( yeah, I flew under the Eiffel tower!), Egypt,Moscow to San Francisco. Hang on, you say, San Francisco? Yeah, I know, it's not a historical game, but shooting down U boots in view of the Golden Gate bridge is a laugh. Next to this there is a huge variety of planes which all can be customized and upgraded. No need to tell you, a Submarine Spitfire is beautiful and flies amazingly good. Now, that's a first: the controls are intuitive and precise, so after a while it becomes a habit to fly. Blazing Angels 2 has some squad commanding options where you can actually give orders to your fellow mates. And it kind of works, although sometimes they seem to do whatever the heck they want. As in the first game ( Blazing Angels, 2006)the voice overs are repeatingly irritating. An with that, comes a cliché in all video games: your boss, some colonel, is an old cynical p****d off guy and your English squadmate has this huge accent. But, heck, that's just me complaining.

In the end, BA 2 delivers a nice war game with some flying ace battles. It's a bit short though, but with nice graphics, good controls and diverse scenery it is actually is an improvement over the first game.
