Marcel Perez is, as you might guess from the title of this movie, a reporter. He's been assigned a new story: a general is in town to review the troops. Get an interview! The general does not wish to give an interview, so Perez has to resort to subterfuge. Good thing he's a comic and can raid the studio's wardrobe department for disguises.

It's a typically funn short in the Robinet series; not only will the audience laugh at Perez' ability to pop out of wardrobes, tables and bathtubs, but the way he is dealt with is typical of the bone-breaking style of slapstick that European comics in general and Italian ones in particular, made use of.

This looks like the producers took advantage of a public event -- in this case, a bunch of troops practicing marching -- to shoot a comedy. In America, Sennett took advantage of such events for early Keystones like A MUDDY ROMANCE.
