Warning: Spoilers
To improve his chances of promotion, Rex wants to join an exclusive golf club, of which Fletcher is already a member. Fletcher has lied to the other members about his position at International Rentals. He has told them he is Deputy Chairman. To preserve his lie, he deliberately black-balls any would-be new members. Also attempting to get into the club is Parsons ( Edward de Souza ), the company's real Deputy Chairman. So are Fletcher's lies about to be finally exposed?

Written by Brian Finch ( whose last episode was 'The Cruise' ), this is a splendid attack on the class-ridden snobbery of British golf clubs. Rex impresses the club committee with his forthright views, but still fails to achieve membership. When you consider that Johnny Speight, despite his talent, failed to make golf clubs funny ( in his dismal ITV series 'The Nineteenth Hole' ), you realise how much of an achievement this is. The only mistake is the presence of Carol ( posing as Fletcher's wife ) at the club. Women were not permitted into golf clubs in those days. Edward de Souza's credits include 'The Spy Who Loved Me', Hammer's 'The Phantom Of The Opera', and 'Sapphire & Steel'. Arthur White, who plays 'Pratt', is the brother of David Jason, and replaced Hugh Paddick in the delightful children's show 'Pardon My Genie'.

Funniest moment - Rex is practising his golf swing in the men's toilet. The ball rolls under the door of a locked cubicle. Rex asks for the ball back. Parsons asks "Do you know who is in here?" to which Rex replies "Do you know who is out here?". Parsons does not. "Thank God for that!", exclaims Rex, beating a hasty retreat.
