Jim Gaffigan stopped by "Conan" on Thursday to promote his new special, "Mr. Universe," and told Conan about a particular pet peeve of his: Americans take way too many photos on their phones. Especially of their food.
In an age when a simple photo sharing app can be sold to Facebook for a billion dollars, Gaffigan isn't wrong in thinking that we've hit peak photos. In fact, it has been claimed that 10% of all photos ever taken were taken last year alone.
And Jim is pretty unimpressed with the idea that we're putting the technology to good use. "It's not as if ten years ago, we were like, 'I wish I could take low quality photos of my dessert.'"
Plus, as a father of four, he's worried that kids will be spoiled by having their entire lives photographed. "I have more pictures of my children than my father ever looked at me,...

Jim Gaffigan gives you 8 reasons Not to download Jim Gaffigan's new stand-up special, 'Mr. Universe'
If the Mr. Universe competition were judged not on muscles but on jokes about questionable food and slothfulness, Jim Gaffigan would totally dominate. Instead, though, that hilarious and decidedly non-tan comedian — you may recognize him from My Boys, That ’70s Show, the animated Pale Force, any late-night talk show, or three versions of Law & Order — will just have to make do with being an unofficial king of comedy. And he’s about to hold court with a new stand-up special, Mr. Universe, which hits your computers today.

The other members of Pale Force are going to be awfully jealous: Conan O'Brien unveiled his new superhero alter-ego during Warner Bros.' Comic-Con panel Friday for "Green Lantern: The Animated Series." Read all of TheWrap's Comic-Con coverage here Despite a sleek trailer, "The Flaming C," may not actually hit the big screen. The trailer says it's "Coming Soon -- Maybe." And while it's encouraging that the creators of "Batman: The Animated Series" worked on the trailer, the Masturbating Bear's apparent involvement isn't a good sign. (Masturbating Bear can't even get arrested in Hollywood,...

Amateur chef and comedian Nadia Giosia broke into the competitive world of celebrity cooking with the power of her online community.
Nadia Giosia, the saucy Italian comedian behind Cooking Channel's hit show, Bitchin' Kitchen, broke into the elite world of television chefs through the grassroots enthusiasm of her fierce online fans. (How many cooking shows have fans that post pics of branded tattoos on their Facebook page?) Behind the endearing rock 'n' roll decor, scripted comedy, and zany sidekicks are some signature web elements: a celebration of amateurism, fearless editorializing, and the use of webisodes as proof-of-concept for traditional media.
The show can be difficult to conceptualize without seeing seeing some of it, so, below is a sizzle reel of highlights.

Conan O'Brien, superhero? It's happened before, and it's happening again.
You may recall that when O'Brien was with NBC, he was the weakling animated sidekick to Jim Gaffigan in the "Pale Force" web cartoons. Now, with the help of other members of the Warner Bros. empire, he's been turned into a (slightly) more imposing hero.
Monday night (Jan. 10) O'Brien unveiled the animation debut of The Flaming C, probably the only superhero in history who wears fishnet stockings, loafers and a steaming oven mitt on his right hand. The character, drawn by top DC animator Bruce Timm with heavy input from O'Brien, appeared in a clip of Cartoon Network's series "Young Justice."
You can see the auspicious(?) debut after the jump.

He may no longer be part of the peacock, but that’s not stopping NBC from selling merchandise emblazoned with Conan O'Brien’s name and image. The network is still shilling T-shirts, mugs, and more featuring the former Tonight Show host both online and inside their NBC Experience Store in Manhattan. The merchandise inside the NBC Experience Store is towards the back, behind stands holding Late Night with Jimmy Fallon and The Jay Leno Show duds. O’Brien T-shirts, including one of him donning his famous Year 2000 suit, go for $25 each, or three for $65. The Conan Desk Mug with...

Conan O'Brien's "Tonight Show" was the casualty in the NBC Late Night Wars. O'Brien's work was highlighted by he and Jim Gaffigan's animated Pale Force, a funny tip of the hat to the melanin challenged super heroes. His last message reinforced what I was always taught, that it is more important to be kind than clever. Ciao Conan, but not for long. Jimmy and the Roots bid Conan a fond farewell from Conan's old studio. Conan Looks Back (01/22/10) Conan looks back at a montage of the best of the last 7 months! Pale Force is ridiculous. Let's just get that out of the way. Originally aired in pieces on "Late Night with Conan O'Brien," it follows the adventures of a superhero called Pale Man, a taller, fitter version of creator Jim Gaffigan. Pale Man is the coolest most popular guy on the planet. Everyone loves him and admires him deeply, including Conan O'Brien, whose dream comes true when he becomes Pale Man's sidekick.
However ridiculous it may be, Pale Force is absurd in a completely awesome way. Every little episode, under the pretense of pale jokes, is basically an ongoing jab at Conan: in the Pale Force universe, he's assumed to either be gay or a woman by virtually everyone who comes across him, and, let's face it, for good reason; he's effeminate, bizarrely weak, and has a squeaky pre-pubescent voice (provided by Gaffigan).
That -- Gaffigan's steadfast devotion to keeping the...

For the fans of Late Night with Conan O.Brien, this DVD collects the webisodes of Pale Force, an action adventure animated series created by Jim Gaffigan. Starring Jim Gaffigan and Conan O.Brien as the super pale super heroes with .extraordinary valor, matched with freakish pallor. Pale Force is a send up of pop culture and saving the day. If you don.t know Pale Force, it is difficult to explain without sounding absolutely insane. Yes, it is irreverent, yes it can be hysterically funny, and yes there are numerous cringe moments, but it captures something of the years 2005-2008 in a way that is timelessly..er..weird. Pale Force is comprised of muscled macho Pale Man voiced by Jim Gaffigan...

You probably know Jim Gaffigan even if you don't recognize the name. He's that pale comedian. That really pale comedian who speaks in two voices while standing on stage. The near albino fellow who confiscates your Sierra Mist. If none of that helped, just look at the DVD cover. If you still don't know Jim Gaffigan - you've been missing out. Jim Gaffigan is one of the best up and coming (if not newly established) comedians today. His first DVD special Beyond the Pale was comically hysterical. If you don't think it's possible to stand on stage and talk about food for two hours - then you've yet to be enlightened by the Gaffigan. For King Baby, Gaffigan's second DVD special, Gaffigan resumes his food-oriented routine while hearkening back to a few of his earliest routines about that good old sedentary lifestyle.

Jim Gaffigan has a knack for staying on America's radar. Since our February 2006 interview with the sun-starved 42-year-old stand-up, Gaffigan has toured with Beyond The Pale (2006), appeared on Late Night With Conan O'Brien with his Pale Force web series, and secured a primo spot in the TBS sitcom My Boys as the lead's domesticated brother. His stand-up continues to develop—he's still a nitpicky, comfortably uncomfortable observationalist, but he's shifted away from Pale's hyper-food focus ("Hot Pockets!") in favor of jabs at his own laziness. The new material is currently making the cross-country rounds as The Sexy Tour—it hits theatres in November, and an early December show in Austin will be recorded for his next Comedy Central special in March. Even with increased exposure, Gaffigan is still the same goofy comic, making good use of his trademark high-pitched "inner voice" to broadcast what he perceives to be the audience's.
