- Bookseller Marie Meyer has a big heart. Her faithful friend and neighbor Hermann Raabe, who can't see how the former artist spoils her customers, thinks it's too big. Because she makes far too little sales to be able to pay off the debt for the expensive conversion of her reading café. The bank no longer grants a delay and threatens to foreclose on it. A streak of light appears on the horizon when Marie meets Tommy Weber, who suffers from asthma. The boy immediately takes Marie to his heart because she reminds him of the good fairy Mirella from his book of fairy tales. Tommy's father, the widowed doctor Hans Weber, spontaneously hired the "fairy godmother" as a nanny. With the lucrative extra income, Marie may be able to avert the impending foreclosure. As the good spirit of the house, she has a positive influence on Tommy's illness and quickly wins the affections of his rebellious sister Lena as well. Marie soon finds out that, in addition to her mother's death, another dark shadow weighs on the family's happiness: Hans Weber has rejected his son André because he preferred to become a circus clown instead of studying medicine like his father. In an attempt to bring the divided family together, Marie tells her stubborn father what she thinks - and is promptly fired. When she also loses the money that her neighbor Hermann advanced her to cover the bank debt, things look very bleak.—ARD Das Erste
- Workaholic surgeon Dr. Hans Weber has little time for his family, especially badly asthmatic son Tommy, who didn't speak since his mother's fatal accident. When the kid verbally reacts to kind hospital visitor Marie Meyer, who resembles a fairy mother in his stories book, Hans hires her as his companion. She needs the money as her popular 'reading cafe' rarely sells a book with profit, so kind retired neighbor Hermann Raabe stands in for her so she can help Tommy, needing cash to prevent impending foreclosure by the bank, he even gives her his cash life savings, which she never finds time to deposit in the bank. Tommy's rebellious, over-protective sister Lena's hostility turns when Beate finds out about utterly disowned firstborn sibling Andre, who chose a circus career over the family tradition med school, but Hans also blames him for the fatal accident.
