Oh, good god. Don't believe all the fake reviews. (You'll note that none of those ten-star posters have ever posted an IMBD review before, always a telltale sign.) This is laughably bad, with a lamely on-the-nose approach that's about as scary as an old Lifetime movie. Adding to the televisual feel is the frequent use of blackouts between scenes, as if we're breaking for a commercial.

How they got the name actors involved, I'll never know. (Although Lori Petty is so dreadful, you may be amazed she ever had a high-profile career.) The quality of the non-name performances is easier to explain--one of the hammiest is by the screenwriter, who gave himself a big role.

It's all so stupid at times I wondered if it was actually some sort of deliberate camp exercise. But if that was the intention, the filmmakers left it waaaaaay too easy to mistake their pileup of absurdities and ineptitude for the real thing, as opposed to any kind of sendup.

Adding insult to injury, this atmosphere-free tale of demonic possession or something in a blandly over-lit suburban community is nearly 100 minutes long. This is one of those movies so hapless and yet mediocre that it could only be rendered truly watchable by an accompanying drinking game (a shot for every cheesy "apparition" appearance? a beer every time Petty mooches for beer?), or by MST3K commentary. In excerpt it might cough up some unintentional laughs, but actually watching more than a few minutes of the whole thing gets dull really fast. You've been warned.

It's awful. Juvenile dialog. Overacting. Implausible decisions. High School Drama class special effects. On top of an incredibly loose and silly plot line.

Maybe I wasn't paying close enough attention, but the plot of this film came across as nonsensical cult-worship garbage. The make-up effects were horrible enough for me to comment, and Lori Petty's career belongs consigned to the dust bin of history. (Maybe it already is and that's why she's in this film.) Likewise Judd Hirsch and Corbin Bernsen ham it up past the point of believability.

I've seen many, many worse movies, which is why this one doesn't get a 1 star review, but that's literally the only reason. I can't think of anything even remotely redeemable or interesting about this film. The movie's ridiculous ending is merely the icing on the cake.

Normally do not leave reviews. But I rented this movie on Prime. Bad idea. Utter garbage and poor acting. Only other real review is the one that mentions this movie is garbage. Viewer Beware!!!!!

Horrible... I tried twice to watch this movie... only made it to 35 minutes... annoying and terrible acting.... where did they find these people????

Can't believe Corbin Bernsen and Judd Hirsch were in this joke of a movie. Terrible acting all around. Couldn't finish it. Totally unworth the time.

I had high expectations for this film. It ended up not even reaching "so bad it's good," potential, but just plain bad. The storyline was so confusing, I literally thought maybe I wasn't paying attention. Man, it even felt like the creators couldn't decide what they were making.

The writing was absolute trash, as was the acting. This is not a case of "it's so bad it's good". If the prior two sentences aren't enough of a warning then you have my pity.

My wife and I saw this film last night, and had a lot of fun watching it. There are some big names attached to the film, and do more than just shoot a quick scene for a paycheck. As others have noted, there's not a lot of gore in the film (although there is some), and the cast seems to be having a good time acting in it. Lori Petty is an absolute riot, although most people would recognize her from some of her more famous roles (A League of Their Own, Point Break). This isn't high drama, but rather a pleasant way to spend a late summer night.

Grab some popcorn (and a beer!), park yourself on the couch, and enjoy the film!

Top billed cast! (Doesnt equate with a stellar story line though, hmmmmm) Quite a creepy crawly of a legend! Its a bit of dark and light humor, spinning a very dark ghost story of a mound and a lake? A bit silly if ya ask me, which is it? A mound or a lake? Kind of both actually. That's what is is so fun about this B grade shlock film, its all over the place. Wait till you meet the beer lady! Are we sure that this abomination isn't one of those terrible Saturday afternoon "original" stinkers that the SyFy channel used to produce and foist on us?

The coverage from the Johnny Depp V Amber Heard court case is scarier, atmospheric, better acted and much more entertaining than any part of this film . It also has a better plot line. If you have over an hour of your life you're happy to never get back then watch it, if not then give it a miss. Think bad horror movie on you tube and this sums it up. It's not even so bad it's good. It's just bad.

I don't know what to say about this train wreck of a film. Overall the acting is pretty bad. The story itself didn't really make complete sense either, a lot of loose ends and smaller things within the movie that were never explained or resolved. It's a lot like watching a 1980's cheesy horror in a 2020 setting.

Only reason why I gave this movie a 5 is because it reminded me of an actress in my all time favorite Horror movie, Halloween. ( The original) who I actually met at a Chiller Convention in the ladies room. Not the worse movie in the world, a bit entertaining, just a bit.

Such inconsistencies, I can only assume the edit jumbled everything up as its a mess. Coupled with the god awefull acting, story, makeup, sound. Why do they have to make a really loud noise ever time something happens, quite irritating., not even scary. The brightness is ok, but I can get that right on a smart phone. Location is OK, nice for rest, got nothing for the story. Utter dribble. Wife forced me to watch it as she likes rubbish films, for me it was slow and boring. Wrote this 15m from the end. I suppose it gives you time to check your email whilst watching it, you know, read your spam or something.

Great watch for the horror geeks. Although I though some of the established actors called it in, performances from Kristen Anne Ferraro, and Tatiana Szpur were top notch. Jean Tree and Eric Wolf also showed some great horror chops for this film. Fun to watch.

Nobody should claim that "A Deadly Legend" is a great horror movie. Clunky script, some wooden acting, dodgy editing, and a mish-mash of plot points that don't come together as an effective whole.

That said, "A Deadly Legend" is a style of low budget genre movie that I like. Without knowing anything about the history of its making, I would bet a big molasses cookie that the idea for this movie started far outside the movie industry. One or two or three people with an idea and a lot of passion. Somehow the money came together, a story grew, and a cast and crew put together. During shooting there were probably some days where people thought, what the heck are we doing? But, I'd bet that mostly people had fun with the project of taking creativity from idea to realization.

There seems nothing cynical about "A Deadly Legend," either its energy or its story. I like that. The creators, if they still have that passion for movie-form story-telling, should keep going. Learn from making this movie, keep creating, become better at it.

One call out: Lori Petty is amazing in this. In a movie where the acting ranges from flat to over-the-top, Petty's Wanda is in a class all her own. Without the character and Petty's spin on it, "A Deadly Legend" would have been far less enjoyable. At worst, we needed a scene that better establishes the relationship between Wanda and Mike, and Wanda and the rest of the central characters.

That's a fault throughout the movie. People show up, things happen, and we're left much of the time to piece together the relationships, the dynamics, and fit all of it within the context of the story. It seems like the creator(s) compromised tight story-telling in trying to feature as much of the ensemble cast as possible. The movie suffers for that compromise. Next time the creator(s) will do better, I'm sure.

A great horror movie? No. A project that shows some inherent skills and hints at potential greatness? Yes.

I found it to be different. Made you wonder who was good or evil. Lori Petty was really good & funny. Made me want a beer. Guy who played Mike did a great job of looking evil. Have to see it to see for yourself.

A Deadly Legend is a campy horror flick with a story to follow and just enough startling/scary moments to keep you on the edge of your seat (maybe covering your eyes). The acting is good from both established actors and newcomers alike. It is worth a watch or two if you dare.

Spooky, creepy, and gory- what a true horror flick should be.

We bought it on Friday and watched it Saturday night...and again Sunday morning! Great film. Good scenes, Great casting. Easy to follow storyline. No spoiler here, but we need the sequel.

Great campy low budget horror film!!! Fun fun! Great acting from first time actor Eric Wolf and great fun acting from Kristen Ferraro!!! Loved seeing some of my favorite actors in this movie also!!! I'm ready for part two!!! Bring it on!!!!
