Life and work in a factory

Warning: Spoilers
"Fabrika" or "Factory" is a half hour documentary from Russia released in 2004, so this one has its 15th anniversary next year and it is among the more known works by writer and director Sergei Loznitsa and also one of his earlier, but not earliest career efforts. The title says it all pretty well what this is about. You won't need any subtitles here as there is no spoken language in here, no narrator, no interviews with the factory workers and the only thing Russian-language here are the closing credits, so don't be confused by the language listed here on imdb being Russian. Instead all you gonna hear in here are the mechanical, sometimes screeching and rusty sounds from the machines. Factories were a common subject already back in the days of the very early silent films and here they are again. The somewhat silent approach here reminds me of some recent Austrian documentaries (by Wagenhofer I believe), who gave it the same atmospheric take. All in all, maybe a bit too long at 30 minutes already and I cannot say I liked this one too much or was entertained by it. So I have to give this one a thumbs-down as a whole. Not recommended.
