Avengelyne may be flying to Warner Bros., with the studio in early talks to acquire the comic book package that hit earlier this month.
Don’t Worry Darling filmmaker Olivia Wilde is attached to direct the feature, with Barbie team Margot Robbie, Tom Ackerley and Josey McNamara of LuckyChap producing. The banner has a first-look deal with Warners, which made the studio the first stop for the package, which has added screenwriter Tony McNamara to the mix. Longtime X-Men producer Simon Kinberg is also producing.
Avengelyne launched in 1995 and centered on a fallen angel cast to Earth. The hero is entrusted to find and protect The One, a person who is the key to protecting humanity from demons and other monsters. Liefeld co-created the character with Cathy Christian and Tony Lobito. Liefeld, meanwhile, has Deadpool & Wolverine due out in July from Marvel Studios.

Over the weekend, Universal Pictures released Dev Patel's action flick "Monkey Man" in theaters, while 20th Century Studios unleashed the horror prequel "The First Omen" on audiences. Both were competing against "Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire" in its second weekend and, frankly, they never stood a chance. But they also weren't necessarily gunning for the top spot as these were more counterprogramming moves from both studios. Be that as it may, both films came in on the lower end of expectations, which shaped the narrative around their performance to something akin to "bad." I'm here to offer the other perspective which is more akin to "good."
"Monkey Man" debuted at number two on the charts with a $10.1 million opening. The film, which serves as Patel's feature directorial debut, had been expected to pull in anywhere between $16 and $25 million on the more optimistic side of things That obviously didn't come to pass.

In a letter announcing her third album, Don’t Forget Me, singer-songwriter Maggie Rogers says she got inspired for her latest project by creating a “younger Thelma & Louise,” using that storytelling vessel to navigate difficult personal truths of her own. Such self-exploring wanderlust has been a common theme for Rogers, an artist who proclaimed “I found myself when I was going everywhere” on her first LP. This time out, she’s taking a metaphorical road trip through her own past as a means of escaping her disconcerting present.

The third installment of the ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ was released on May 5th, 2023, after ‘Quantumania’ was deemed a commercial and critical failure, the movie was a much-needed success for the studio.
Gunn initially shared ideas for a third and final film in November 2014, then confirmed his return as writer and director in April 2017. However, Disney fired him from the project in July 2018 due to controversial Twitter (now X) posts. Gunn was reinstated by October of the same year. His return was made public in March 2019, and production resumed after his work on DC’s ‘The Suicide Squad’ and ‘Peacemaker’ series was over. Despite the movie being a success, Gunn never planned on staying with the MCU as at that point he was already named co-chairman and co-ceo of DC Studios and was about to start work on a new and rebooted Dcu, replacing Dceu.

We can now rule out two things when it comes to Kara Killmer’s forthcoming exit from Chicago Fire: Wednesday’s Season 12 premiere (NBC, 9/8c) will not be the actress’ final episode, and her swan-song arc as Sylvie Brett will not go according to the paramedic’s plan.
Last we saw Brett, she was on the cusp of adopting baby Julia and was being proposed to by on-and-off ex-boyfriend Matt Casey (played by Jesse Spencer), who got down on bended knee, diamond ring in hand. “Sylvie Brett, we were meant to be. Will you make me and three kids...

Los Angeles, Nov 19 (Ians) Grammy-winning singer Pink said she will hand out banned books in the state’s schools when she plays in her Florida gig.
“Books have held a special joy for me from the time I was a child. That’s why I am unwilling to stand by and watch while books are banned by schools,” Pink said.
Florida has become the centre of the book-banning debate and Pink’s plan has been formed with the national free speech group Pen America.
They have chosen four titles to give away to fans – Toni Morrison’s ‘Beloved’, Todd Parr’s ‘The Family Book’, Stacia Deutsch’s ‘Girls who Code’, and the poem recited by Amanda Gorman at Joe Biden’s presidential inauguration in January 2021 titled ‘The Hill We Climb’, reports aceshowbiz.com.
Pen America’s database of censored tomes lodged 3,362 book bans in US public schools in the 2022 to 2023 school year.

Sweetening the deal of every re-recorded Taylor Swift album is the promise of hearing new vault tracks. These previously unreleased songs, which were written during their assigned eras, flesh out the diaristic narratives Swift laid out on their respective albums — and they also give us a glimpse into how her own songwriting has been changing and growing.
1989 (Taylor’s Version) is no different. In fact, these may be her best vault tracks yet, showcasing a fearless Swift charging into her pop sound at full-force with the help of her then-new collaborative partner Jack Antonoff.

Cinephiles tend to be reluctant to call a new movie a favorite, instead favoring tried and true paradigms, but It Follows is a rare contemporary film that immediately struck a wide swath of viewers — myself included — as a modern classic upon its release in 2014. Comfortingly familiar yet invigoratingly fresh, I’ve only come to appreciate it more since, and Second Sight Films’ new 4K Ultra HD edition proves it hasn’t lost any staying power after nearly a decade.
The plot is deceptively simple: after a sexual encounter, 19-year-old Jay begins being followed by… something. The supernatural force takes a human form but never sticks to one for long; it could be a familiar face, an obscene stranger, or anyone in between. The only recourse seems to be passing it on to someone else via sexual intercourse. Otherwise, it will kill her, then the person who gave it to her,...

Elvis Presley loved one of his songs that was written specifically for him. Despite this, the tune isn’t famous today. It might surprise the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll‘s fans to know it was a No. 1 hit for five weeks.

Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller were a famous pair of songwriters known for penning Elvis hits such as “Jailhouse Rock,” “Hound Dog,” and “Don’t.” During a 2020 interview with Elvis Australia, Stoller revealed the origin of “Don’t.” “‘Don’t’ was written for him by request,” he said. “One afternoon, it was a Friday, while we were doing the filming [of Jailhouse Rock], a lot of which is ‘Hurry up and wait’, he said, ‘Hey Mike, why don’t you write me a real pretty ballad?’

Elvis Presley was one of the most charismatic performers in the early days of rock and roll. His performances elicited a response from fans never seen before in the genre and rocketed him to superstardom rather quickly. However, for Priscilla Presley, the fan who would eventually become his wife, Elvis had one unique talent. It drew her in even before she saw him perform for the first time.
Priscilla Presley said that one of Elvis Presley’s special talents initially drew her in
In a 2017 interview with Variety, Priscilla Presley said when she first learned of Elvis Presley, he had one special talent that drew her in. This element is also historically the same for many of Elvis’ fans.
“His voice. Before I even saw Elvis, I was attracted to ‘Jailhouse Rock’ and ‘I Met a Woman,'” Priscilla revealed.
“Even in the song ‘Don’t,’ I was attracted really by his voice.

Andy Serkis has a strange relationship with the “Star Wars” franchise. Originally, he was brought on to play the voice and motion capture for the new big-bad of the film franchise, Snoke. However, that character was (controversially) killed in the second film of the sequel trilogy. The following article contains major spoilers for "Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse."
"Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse" took us back into the multiverse, starting with Gwen Stacy (Hailee Steinfeld) visiting Miles Morales (Shameik Moore) in the Brooklyn of Earth-1610. She then takes him to the Spider-Society, where Spider-Beings from all over the multiverse converge and help each other out.
Over the course of the film, Miles finds out that he wasn't ever supposed to be Spider-Man and, because of that, the universe of Earth-42 doesn't have one. Wha's more, he ends up having to evade the Spider-Beings who want to stop him from preventing a "canon event," as in something that must happen to create our web-slinging superheroes. As a result, Miles eventually makes his way to Earth-42, a place where his uncle Aaron (Mahershala Ali) is still alive, his dad is dead, and another version of Miles (Jharrel Jerome) has become...

Though Olivia Wilde has had a few major long-term romances - including with ex-fiancé Jason Sudeikis and ex-husband Tao Ruspoli - none have been quite as high-profile as her romance with Harry Styles.
Styles and Wilde were first linked in 2021 while they were working together on the film "Don't Worry Darling," which Wilde directed and Styles starred in. The two initially attempted to keep their romance low-key, but after it went public, their relationship wound up being a major topic of conversation in the buildup to "Don't Worry Darling"'s release. Styles and Wilde reportedly split in November 2022, though it seems some aspects of their relationship have remained intact - including a possible tattoo Styles may have gotten in honor of Wilde, which fans spotted in photos shared on July 31.
Prior to Wilde, Styles was linked to the likes of Taylor Swift and Kendall Jenner, though most of those relationships were kept relatively private.

Kylie Jenner has confirmed she has had a boob job despite years of denying surgery rumours.
The mom-of-two, 25, was chatting to Anastasia “Stassie” Karanikolaou about some of the rumours that have surrounded her, before she asked her Bff if she remembered her having her “boobs done,” Et reported.
Jenner recalled on Thursday’s season finale of “The Kardashians” how she had the op months before she ended up getting pregnant with her eldest child, daughter Stormi, in 2017.

Ron DeSantis has been having a hard time out on the campaign trail lately convincing Republican voters that he should be their presidential nominee, and the Walt Disney Company isn’t about to make things any easier for the Florida governor.
As dictated by federal court schedules, the Bob Iger-run media conglomerate filed its response today to DeSantis’ June 26 motion to toss out the Mouse House’s retaliation and free speech suit against the ambitious so-called anti-woke politician.
And Disney didn’t mince words.
“This case presents the fundamental question whether the Governor and the State can escape accountability for their open defiance of our Nation’s most cherished liberties,” Disney said Wednesday in its opposition to state defendants’ motion to dismiss (read it here).
“The Governor seeks to evade responsibility for his actions on a narrower ground, asserting that a governor cannot be held officially liable for implementing,...

Bob Odenkirk told TheWrap that actors should not be asking for waivers to promote their movies during the SAG-AFTRA strike, as “Mission: Impossible” star Tom Cruise was reported to have requested earlier this week.
“Don’t,” the “Better Call Saul” Emmy nominee said succinctly outside Paramount studios on Wednesday. “It’s a strike. Strike. You lose. We lose. Everybody loses. That’s tough s–t.”
SAG-AFTRA has asked members not to do interviews or any other form of promotion until the strike is resolved, which is why the cast of “Oppenheimer” walked out of the premiere once the strike became official.
