So many times, when a character gets their own show/movie, the character suddenly gets flattened and less interesting, such that the story happens around them, rather than that character remaining a compelling, fleshed-out catalyst. Loki and Black Panther are two prime examples.
But here we see Hawkeye, and the new antagonist and protagonist alike, all three getting appropriate depth, nuance, and narrative time. I say bravo, Hawkeye. And that opening sequence moved me just as much as UP's did.
And while the action sequences felt very made-for-TV, I loved them. The camera work, choreography, special effects and directorship all came together with such force and beauty. That alone makes me want to watch the episode again, and I can't remember the last time an action sequence made me say that.
Can't wait to see what happens with the mother, with pizza dog, with the mysterious uncle, and of course Natasha's sister.
