In light of Supernatural’s traumatic season 9 finale, which [spoiler alert] saw the death — and demon-izing — of Dean Winchester, EW staffers Sandra Gonzalez and Samantha Highfill ranked the Winchester brothers’ top 10 deaths.
Yes, the boys have died a lot.
10. Sam Struck By Lightning (season 4, episode 8)
Sandra: I honestly didn’t remember this as a “death” until you brought it up, and I think it’s because it was played for laughs.
Sam: I know. I forgot about it until I googled deaths. I don’t even remember how he “came back to life.” Clearly it didn’t impact me.

Brutal slavery movie marks another collaboration between this news cameraman turned cinematographer and the Turner Prize-winning artist and film-maker Steve McQueen
"The beauty about Steve McQueen," says Sean Bobbitt, "is his collaboration. He picks people who he respects and trust; he briefs them very clearly and let's them get on with it. That's for every department, from cinematography to hair and makeup. In all these things he has the final say, but he lets you go. Because of that, working with him is incredibly rewarding. When you are allowed to be brave, it is so exciting."
Bobbitt, we can assume, knows whereof he speaks: he has shot all three of McQueen's features – Hunger, Shame and now 12 Years a Slave – as well as five of McQueen's gallery shorts, dating back to 2002's Western Deep, shot in South Africa inside the world's deepest gold mine. He is clear that it is McQueen's...

Animal lovers and anyone with half a heart aren't the only people who have been traumatized by Sarah McLachlan's devastating ads for the Spca. Despite the singer's desire to help the organization and its fight against animal cruelty, she found the ads themselves quite hard to do.
"Honestly, those Spca ads? Brutal for me, because it was so far out of my comfort zone, asking for money like that. It made me so uncomfortable," McLachlan tells Huffington Post Music Canada. "Even though, boy, those ads worked like a hot damn!"
Although she's happy with the success of those ads, her current efforts with the new charity single "Find Your Voice" in support of The Sarah McLachlan School Of Music are far more her style.
Co-written with longtime collaborator Pierre Marchand and recorded with members of the school's choir and percussion ensemble, the inspirational Christmas song is available as a...

Kristen Stewart got more mega high praise for brutal Breaking Dawn 1 & 2 performances. According to a new report from Hollywood Life, Twilight Saga movie director Bill Condon recently chatted it up with their sister site movieline.com,and just didn't have enough good things to say about his star actress Kristen Stewart's performances in both Breaking Dawn part 1 and 2. Apparently, he thinks she totally owned it,and more. Bill told them, "I really do think that Kristen Stewart is amazing, but I feel like in terms of this series she doesn’t get credit for how much she accomplishes. I think if someone were to sit and watch these two movies that we made together at the same time and realize that Kristen shot that all together, it’s just another level of her gift. She was stepping out of her comfort zone, because there was so much Kristen in...

So... all That happened on The Vampire Diaries last night.
Katherine made her presence felt, Stefan was outed for still loving Elena, Damon sort of killed Alaric and Anna communicated with Jeremy from beyond. With so many happenings, there's no time to waste for Round Table panelists Matt Richenthal, Steve Marsi and Dan Forcella. Let's get right to it!
-------------------------------------------
What was your favorite scene from the episode?
Matt: Rebekah's speech to Stefan about how, deep inside, Klaus is actually jealous of him due to Stefan's devotion to family. Leave it to The Vampire Diaries to craft a layered, sensitive villain, even as he slurps the blood from one innocent victim after another.
Steve: Rebecca seeing through Stefan's probing questions and outing him to Klaus. The tension of not knowing how this dangerous loose cannon is going to react, and how much he instinctively knows in a situation like that,...

On the second day of Sarah Palin's family vacation/testing the waters bus tour, the former Alaska governor offered some hints about what her potential campaign might look like-and kept reporters scrambling to catch up.
Greeting supporters, touring the country in a bus, jabbing at your opponent, jousting with reporters, and taking unexpected questions from people on rope lines: These things are all part of a presidential campaign. On Day 2 of Sarah Palin's bus tour she did all of that and still stayed coy about whether she would run.

Let’s face it… Special Makeup FX are the backbone of the horror genre. As engaging as storylines can be, as believable as acting is, and as competent as directing and cinematography are, fans pay money and put their asses in those seats or buy those DVDs and Blu-rays because they love the creatures.
Back in the 1980s FX artists were like rock stars. Names like Savini, Bottin, and Baker were spoken in revered tones. People went to see films because of who was doing the FX. As the years progressed, FX artists refined techniques, CG was introduced, new materials were brought into play, and what was once a discipline soon became an art form.
One FX artist who’s recently been helping elevate that art form to new heights is Vincent J. Guastini. His contributions to such films as Requiem for a Dream, Flags of our Fathers/Letters from Iwo Jima,...

Welcome to the tenth installment of Fangoria Musick's Lists Of Doom, our new column where we'll be catching up with some of our favorite bands and giving them a place to talk horror. Since this is Fangoria, we're gonna pick these musician's brains to find out what scares them.
For number ten, we caught up Stephan Gebedi (guitars) and Ed Warby (drums) from Hail of Bullets, European purveyors of "Death Metal Supreme" - both huge horror fans with some great taste in genre films, and their love for some Goblin scores.
Ed - I'm a huge horror nut, so here goes...
1. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (Tobe Hooper's terrifying original, that is)
Easily the scariest and most intense movie ever made, and it earns this title without shedding more than a few drops of blood. Must've seen it 100 times at least and it still packs a huge sledgehammer blow to the nuts.
