HOW TO BE UNPOPULAR -- TELL THE TRUTH!
tcchelsey10 February 2024
This is all Maynard's show, due to the fact that Dobie is home sick. It's also a funny showcase for Maynard, kind of following him around on his own odyssey of adventures.

The theme here is to simply tell the truth, which Maynard fails to do when it comes to doing his homework for Mr. Pomfritt. So Maynard turns over a new leaf and decides to clean the slate; ALWAYS tell the truth --to everybody.

In fact, Maynard sets out to improve the lives of those around him, exposing their faults, beginning with Mr. Pomfritt, who he claims lectures too much and doesn't listen. Next it's Zelda, caught cheating on Dobie and trying to "kiss up" to a new student, called Nate (played by BG Norman). He tells Zelda she's smart in one way, but dumb in the other, especially the way she treats guys!

Lastly, it's Herb, who Maynard accuses of being cheap and not appreciating his kindly wife, and as for Mrs G, she lets Herb walk all over her. What a scandal! Naturally, Maynard becomes extremely unpopular in about two seconds, until... everybody in question does a self evaluation and admits he's absolutely right. A series first!

Don't miss Maynard's "suitcase of goodies," which he takes with him to see a triple horror movie feature.

Popular juvenile actor BG Norman makes a second appearance on the show, who began his career in some classic movies (THE BIG CLOCK) in the 1940s, later a member of the MICKEY MOUSE CLUB. BG became a successful financial advisor in the 70s. This was the only episode written by Henry Sharp, who was series writer for DONNA REED, later the WILD, WILD WEST. Henry lived to 106, the oldest living writer in Hollywood.

For all us Bob Denver fans. SEASON 3 EPISODE 26 remastered.
