First off, you have to admit, being in Professor Burkhart's class is an adventure. The theme is the Amazon jungle and the professor takes her class on a REAL jungle safari. How they actually get there is not explained, but who's keeping tabs? Just do it.
The story goes that Dobie has his eye on pretty student Clydene (played by Laraine Stephens), so he joins the class --along with Maynard -- and journeys to the jungle! To win over Clydene, Dobie begins searching for a genuine shrunken head! --which gets him, literally, in hot water with the local natives.
Before y'all know it, both Dobie and Maynard are in large pots and being cooked up by the natives for their next dinner! See to believe.
Somehow, someway, the cardboard jungle sets and the fake palm trees seem to make this episode even MORE fun, if not the goofy supporting cast, replete with lots of familiar bit actors who turned up in jungle films. Watch for Maynard's shrunken head! --and his full jungle costume at the end.

Look for veteran character actor Sig Ruman as Himelmayer, over the top as usual. Seen in many classic films, notably NINOTCHKA and SONG OF BERNADETTE. Nacho Golindo plays Manuel, a staple in films and tv shows with a Mexican setting, usually playing mayors, cops and, even bartenders.
