Woah!
BandSAboutMovies17 June 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Woe takes an interesting take on grief. A year after the death of their father, Charlie (Adam Halferty) has lost himself in the endless repairs to his family's house. When his sister Betty (Jessie Rabideau) sells the car that their father killed himself in, the two must come to grips with their relationship with one another. However, there's a hunchbacked monster who has been tracking them, as well as their possibly dead Uncle Pete (James Russo, who has been in everything from Once Upon a Time In America to The Ninth Gate).

Betty and her fiancee Ben (Ryan Kattner) want to invite him to their upcoming wedding, but he may have become so lost inside that unfinished house or in the loss of his father that he may never come back. Or perhaps the same demons that haunted his father, which could be emotional or straight-up supernatural, what with all of the red eyes in the paintings he left behind that match the visions in the forest surrounding the house.

Writer/director Matthew Goodhue doesn't give any simple answers here. If you're looking for a ghost story filled with jump scares, this would not be the film. It feels deeply personal and a film that may need several watches to fully comprehend. This is Goodhue's first full-length movie after creating some short films. He's smart, keeping this compact and focused.

Oh, woe is right.

This confusing as heck movie stars only 3 people, mainly. One okay girl, one incredibly awful to watch brother of hers and her awesome husband who isn't just cuuuute, but the best part of this movie. The ending sorta, kinda explains what the movie was about, but watching this awful brother throughout was enough for the title to take effect.

A must NOT watch.
LordCommandar18 June 2021
This POS film took way too damn long to get a very unequivocal nonsensical point about absolutely nothing. I swear 2021 films thus far have been nothing meh, terrible, disappointing let downs back to back. Six months in and nothing but crap. "Woe" be unto anyone who watches this crap. This is a hard must NOT watch.

The writer must hate people with sensory sensitivity
dougjmaggi15 January 2022
Long, boring, nothing interesting ever happened, and the WORST part of it all is the annoying noises, all the time... The guy never answers the phone, or people banging on his door, the flies and bees, the constant cacophony of endless, annoying, pestering noises. I didn't have a sensory issue before I watched this, I think it gave me one.

Awful....just awful. Boring and long. Awful, please stay clear of this movie! Go watch Scooby Doo Mysteries cartoons to get a thrill.

Dreadful
roninboxers-8556620 October 2022
This film was dreadful. Long, slow, boring, took forever to get nowhere... All through the movie are the over done irritating sounds, I'm sure they were intended to create some kind of atmosphere but it was just irritating and distracting. Like tinnitus. Yikes.

I watched the whole thing waiting for something to happen. Things happened. Nothing happened. The story continued to go nowhere. Just like this review which I have padded out to reach 600 words to hopefully spare someone else from watching it. (Though I would definitely watch the actor who played the husband... in something else)

The result of that is an hour and a half of my life I can't get back.

A truly boring movie. Too slow to enjoy. Characters boring, plot boring. Great movie for insomniacs.

I enjoyed this big-time. Creepy atmosphere throughout. It kept tension and dread I loved the sound design. Less is more.

Lots of tension throughout & the conclusion was wild. A few questions remain, but overall a very good & different kind of movie.

... very well crafted smart film.
contact-742-50083510 June 2021
Woe written and directed by Matthew Goodhue is a very well crafted smart film. Mr. Goodhue's choice and style to build a story around a very common situation in a very "un-common" way is brilliant filmmaking. Woe is sharp-well casted-and finds a way to stay with you long after the final credits.
