Possibly the worst film ever made
davidsbuckle11124 October 2019
This is the first review I've ever written. I felt obligated to write a review to protect other potential viewers. This film is possibly the worst film ever made. Here's just a few points...

  • the film appears to be filmed on a phone.
  • there doesn't seem to be any explanation as to why a new ice age occurred.
  • there's generally no sorry line.
  • I've watched primary school plays with better acting.

I could go on, but save yourself 90 minutes and watch paint dry instead. Far more entertaining.

You should be ashamed of yourselves! Too many Cinema Sins in this one.

Warning: Spoilers
I just watched this on Amazon Prime Video. When I tell you this movie was the worst. I already went in with low expectations but wow! In one scene when the mother and daughter left the father to fend for himself in a brawl inside the facility the women find what looks like a 2016 Lexus RX450h behind a garage door then they all hop in and they start driving down the mountain pass; the car changes to a 2014 Dodge Caravan, then the scene cuts and it changes to a 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee then changes back to the Dodge Caravan. Then there was the towing scene earlier...omg. The man and his wife were in a Ford F150 super crew cab then they see a black van stuck in a ditch on the side of the road. They reverse to go help tow it out but the car in the ditch turns into a silver van and while they are towing it the silver van turns into a white four door sedan!!! And I'm sure everyone saw the camera man in the reflection while the man was talking in the F150 with his door open. Oh and when the lady was trying to get inside the college the solid ice walls were moving as she tried to slip through...you can tell it was spray painted cardboard using white truck bed coating. The wolf chase scene in the college...The wolf had black fur and then it turned white in another scene then black again. No that's unacceptable...you can't sell that to people. I'd give 0 stars if I could! Crooks looking for a quick buck!

Terrible CGI and poor acting along with a disgracefully bad story make this one to skip.

Hardly an apocalypse...
paul_haakonsen22 May 2020
Right, well I must start by saying that I didn't have much of any expectations for the 2019 disaster movie titled "Arctic Apocalypse". And why is that? Well, simply because of the title for starters. Plus, most disaster movies being made are exactly that; disaster movies.

Turned out that "Arctic Apocalypse" wasn't a deviation from this unfortunate prediction. The storyline was bland and generic, to the point where it was actually being pointless. Yeah, that is how I actually felt about the movie, that it was pointless and a waste of time.

The characters were equally bland and pointless. And in fact, it is characters so mundane that you don't really care about them, much less being left with any lasting impression of who they were or what their motivations were when the movie has ended. Chances are that you don't even remember their names when you've seen another movie - that is what happened for me.

The acting in the movie was adequate, taking into consideration the limitations imposed on the actors and actresses in terms of having a weak storyline and script to work with, and by having bland and indistinguishable characters to portray.

A disaster movie is usually heavily dependent on having proper special effects and CGI that are bedazzling and look realistic, giving the audience a sense of impending destruction and feeling like they are right there in the mayhem. This wasn't the case for "Arctic Apocalypse". At best it was just stock footage of the arctic being used.

The movie's cover/poster even brandish "the day after tomorrow is today". Yeah, well this 2019 movie "Arctic Apocalypse" doesn't even reach the 2004 movie "The Day After Tomorrow" to its ankles.

Writer Bill Hanstock may have had an interesting vision for something that sounded and seemed good on paper, but directors Eric Paul Erickson and Jon Kondelik didn't exactly manage to make it an outstanding movie.

My rating of "Arctic Apocalypse" lands on a very generous two out of ten stars. There really isn't any need for you to spend your time, money or effort on this 2019 movie. Some of us suffered through it so you don't have to.

This is so bad its good
alanfisher200121 December 2020
Warning: Spoilers
I started watching it then had to call my wife in to help me as it was so bad. We started to look for goofs and poor scenes it was a riot. The cars kept changing, the guy starts to change a wheel, but rather than waste time actually filming him removing a wheel, they just show a picture of a tyre in the snow ( without a wheel inside!) what is he going to do with a tyre?. The earthquakes consist of people just throwing themselves around whilst someone jiggles a camera. The towing scene consists of a couple of shots of a spinning wheel with no cars moving. The walls in the ice crack move as they are cardboard. The guy in the school gets a gun, but never thinks to use it on the wolf. The woman running from the wolf in the school decides to hide in the corridor crouching with a bright light, if you are running from a wolf, yes its best to crouch with your face to it's level of its jaws with a light on. They seem determined to send some data about the weather ,as if it that causes it all to stop with some handheld device that appears to be a tablet with a sewing bobbin glued to it. Then the young girl loses her fiance of 5 hours down a hole, then is laughing with her parents an hour later? You have to watch it, you will not be dissapointed. It cheered up our lockdown no end.

Sheer Genius! This Apocalypse has been severely under-rated!
hughaubyn4 September 2019
A magnificent example of the dying art of the B-movie. About as much fun as a person can have on a late Sunday afternoon; and you're saving the planet. Especially if you share this because it's exactly what happens when you don't recycle climate change. And don't carry spare batteries. And give your children foreign and unique names like 'Roger' which are clearly a nightmare to pronounce... The effects are splendid, especially the opening storm scenes. I defy anyone to do better on their phone....Or to keep their hair as well groomed during the end of the world. But you know, priorities, right?

The story line....if you want to call it that was what's completely stupid but the "special effects" made it comical.....

Horrible movie
qponfreak13 June 2020
Warning: Spoilers
No intro as to why there's an arctic apocalypse...it just happens. Cheesy acting...forced lines. The entire movie is basically these parents trying to get to their daughter so they can get some weather data using her "special" device. They get to an anomaly to gather those readings and the movie ends. Waste of time,

Cheese fest
Leofwine_draca22 March 2021
Warning: Spoilers
A typical cheese-fest from the infamous combination of The Asylum and the SyFy Channel. ARCTIC APOCALYPSE once again features a story in which the world is assailed by a natural disaster and a single family are forced to flee cross-country while trying to evade things trying to kill them associated with said disaster. Here it's lots of snow and ice and even a few wolves and human psychos for good mix. It's bottom of the barrel stuff, largely uninteresting unless you have a real soft spot for such fare.

The worst !!!! DONT WATCH
dnicolle-9842812 February 2020
The graphics were far from realistic ! The cars they drive were constantly changing! When the fiancé fell into the hole in ground it was gone in the next scene! Whoever made this movie you owe me my money back! I wasted time watching an awful movie! The frustration my boyfriend and I had while watching this movie drove us crazy.

Never seen such a poor quality film in my short 22 years on the planet. Storyline was all over the place. Actors must have only just scraped a btec. Better special effects from a ps1 game

Definitely one of the worst movies I've ever seen. The acting is pathetic and the effects are even worse. Doesn't even fall into the category "it's so bad, it's good"!! Do yourself a favour and avoid this at all costs.

This movie was awful. We rented it on demand for 5.99. I wish I would have read these reviews prior to ordering this movie. The only good thing I can say is my husband and I had a Good laugh over how ridiculous it was.

Amazing!
lerxstdawg2 May 2020
Possibly the greatest movie ever made! No-one should miss this film. Acting, effects, script and direction are truly profound. This movie has the ability to solve the climate change issue and feed every single human on the face of the planet. I will not rest until this film sweeps the academy awards. It helped my find true love as well.

adventuristic, survivalistic, but not the best
NijazBaBs21 October 2019
I liked this movie for having so much about survival and adventure. Meaning we could see airplanes, migs, avalanches, storms, wolves, criminals...which is all fun. Also very real, if not for the scifi or bit extreme reality part, then at least for realistic relationships, and devices. Wolf not scenting humans from the close up was a bit fake, and too sudden and extreme storm appearing so quickly without good and slow enough intro and details. But considering that it at least has better ending, and not so annoying...but enough amount of action and talking. Positive ending. Bit negative but realistic, better than positive but fake.
