So great. Quibi keeps delivering quality shows
iamkeysersoze-1322829 April 2020
Warning: Spoilers
#Freerayshawn is the kind of show or movie you get a couple of times every year. They usually either are really great or bad and are just there to raise a stupid message in the worst possible way. Thankfully this is the former.

For the kind of story the show is telling. It never really feels that repetitive. It's a thrill ride and intense to watch at times. It does have its twists and turns and the ending works really well. It was somewhat of a surprise. It does keep you on the edge of your seat. It's intense at times and thanks to a strong cast and script. However there are small things which for plot sake is there to just delay the inevitable from happening, (solving the crisis)

The characters are great. Stephan James is really good here. Both him and Laurence Fishburne carry this show. They work extremely well together. They have both are seriously likeable characters who you root for. There are few small performances which aren't that great but Skeet Ulrich was really good here as well.

Overall it's a solid show. It takes a generic plot and doesn't take the subject matter jokingly or to raise a message in the worst way possible. It's definitely worth watching.

Best show on Quibi
nate_stuff21 April 2020
Jumped into Quibi last night. Some shows I didn't finish, some I finished to give it a fair shake. This was the first show that I couldn't turn off. Only knock is the acting isn't great at times.

Who are We?
billybadson12 June 2020
The backdrop of this series and the timing of this release is brutally numbing. #Freerayshawn examines how policing in this country has become far more tactical than resolution based. The pursuit of justice is aggressive; the enforcement is aggressive and the response is even more aggressive. #Freerayshawn examines that line and illustrates just how thin it is. Right or wrong the beauty of cinema is sometimes the canvas of conversation. Don't judge the content but the thought-provoking conversation you should have with yourself after. Is the system Broken? #Freerayshawn

The whiteness of the writer shows
Bluemelon2631 August 2020
First I'll say that Seith Mann is a genius Director. But it's interesting that white men (the writer is white - big mistake) can only imagine a world where Black men lose everything and are always somewhat guilty. Black victims of police malevolence are innocent full stop. The whiteness of the writer shows.

As usual the actors were phenomenal with what little they were given. Laurence Fishburne is a national treasure. Stephan James is amazing. Jasmine Cephas Jones equally amazing. The little boy - beautiful and heartbreaking. The writing just sucked. They all deserved better.

I can't wait to see real Black liberation on screen. Now that will be epic... and it is coming

Bold Statement, great production
kairoljohnson13 July 2020
Warning: Spoilers
The show offers a great idea of how easy it is for a black man to be killed in America. The acting is great, especially in Lawrence Fishburns array

It's just not good enough
sprathore20 August 2020
The drama isn't worth 2 ads every 5 mins. This format of short 6-10 min segments of shows is not going to be successful without amazing shows. The production values of the show is good but the story isn't well thought out. Some major flaws in the story. 1. Why wouldn't he tell his side of the story to his own wife. I understand they want the mystery but that can be done by him telling his wife but viewers not listening in. 2. Why would he go to his own wife and son and put them in danger. Then won't send them out as soon as he can. 3. Why would he shoot at the police. As if he shoots or kills a police officer that's another crime and this time he wouldn't be considered innocent. 4. Why did he run in the first place and in the process kill the police officer. He could have just dropped the gun from his lap and that's that. 5. Show is too slow to be an action drama. They could have just made it drama. But this is mish-mash of both.

This is the third show I have watched (endured) on Quibi. I just say they are all the same. Over promising and under delivering. The premise is good, the production quality is great but there are gaping holes in the stories.

Darkness does not fear unlit candles
barrelhousegutboy21 August 2020
This was pitched to me as pro BLM but after watching it, whether intentional or not, illustrates how quick people are to jump to conclusions and how social media capitalizes on it. It also hammers some facts of life that people haven't been paying attention to lately. This would be awesome to show in a classroom to dissect and discuss. If you an adrenaline junkie and just like to be entertained I can recommend a dozen or so movies with the same basic plot you'll like better. If you like movies that challenge a narrative or morality then I would say this is absolutely one to watch. However I will add the caveat that its power in this regard is tied to current events and may lose some zest as it ages. They cite a few 'facts' along the way that compels me to add one as well. The creation of SWAT was the state response to the Watts riots in the 60's. Just FYI for those who think rioting is the way to 'demilitarize' the police.

Give this a pass!
doug-7142323 May 2021
I only watched up to Episode 7 because of Laurence Fishburne and I just couldn't justify wasting any more time. The plot has more holes than Swiss cheese! Other reviewers have provided details so I won't bother repeating the obvious. Even though the episodes are only 7 minutes long I hit the fast forward button several times! Save yourself some time and give this a pass.

Chilling..

Warning: Spoilers
Like watching a dissected car crash scene__and you know this won't end well. A slow burning, numbing, punch in the gut. But then again very relevant of whats going on in our country at this moment with policing practices.

After 2 episodes
Armin2017 August 2020
8 minutes of this and 30 seconds of what happened before = 120 minutes. This we got a new series for you sucks with 8 minutes. Stop it!. Giving this a 1 because of that. If you cant make a movie, don't make it to a series.

Nice
campbizziecom21 February 2023
Really showing the truth. Some people not going like it because it was fast. And some won't like the narrative but it will make you think it's based on a true story. I wanted more.

Sooooo slow
philipryburn8 May 2020
For a premise about cops, hostages, guns, family... this is painfully slow. Literally skipped the show ahead more times than I can remember.

Could have been over in an hour. Unnecessarily drug out.

Could have been better
cennetimturkiyem1 September 2021
Was good but could have been better. There is not a single white person in the show who supports blacks and all whites were cruel. It could have been little better but other than that, it was good to watch it.

Horrible show with a hidden agenda and terrible execution
WatchAndSmile2 September 2020
Seems like the whole agenda of the tv show( a movie split into tiny scenes, yes, not very smart and nobody likes that) is to show how cops are bad and black lives matter. It is very questionable in terms of the concept and it was horribly executed by a great cast of good actors. What is the point? More violence??

Cast was great but it is a 1/10 star script that often didn't make any sense. Characters acted in a dumb way with 0 common sense and all I thought, why would you do this, why would you say this, why would you act like this. It also doesn't explain most of the stuff. It's a 15-minute show, squeezed into 5x and fails to explain 80% of the stuff. I can't go into details without spoiling, but you will see it when you watch it. By the end, you are still left with ALL of your questions unanswered.

The producers also have 0 knowledge how police operate and show them as dumb and/or crazy and/or cold-blooded killers with only 1 agenda. This show should be labeled as Sci-Fi as it exactly what it is.. And you don't have to be a police officer to know it is not true for 99%. Just like not all Muslims are terrorists, not all black people are criminals, not all cops are racist killers - I hope that makes sense because any diversion of this creates racism and hatred and that's what this movie is implying.

To IMDB. Kindly, do not delete the review. It complies with your TOS 100%. It wasn't nice or professional you've done it when I left the initial review a week ago.
