Warning: Spoilers
Lana takes a beating in this episode. Clark hates her (at least for a while)! At last. Welcome to the club, Clark. We're so glad you finally decided to join us. Kidnapping that Brainiac infected woman, spying on Lex, kidnapping Lionel, falling in love with Bizarro. It's all catching up with her. So that's good. I guess I have to stop complaining about how nothing bad ever happens to Lana. Now if only they'd let Lana go bad. Good girl Lana is the most mind numbing character in the history of television.

They killed Jonathan Kent. Why can't they make Lana evil?

The story with Oliver was enjoyable. I like seeing Oliver yell at Clark about saving the world. Yes, Clark. What are you doing with your life? If I was Oliver, I'd be mad at Clark, too. Oliver gave up Lois to be a superhero, but Clark's just sitting around in his empty Smallville farmhouse getting mad at Lana for banging his twin. I wish there was more of Oliver in this show. Oliver's story lines resolve and progress. Just think how far he and Lois have come. They dated, he broke it off to be a superhero, she discovered his secret identity, etc. All in just a handful of episodes. It takes Clark a half dozen seasons to accomplish as much.

Another great episode about a future JLA member
Rcwilkinson1238 February 2008
A familiar superheroine from DC Comics lore arrives to Smallville in this terrific eleventh episode.

Chloe Sullivan has been working with Oliver Queen to locate Lex Luthor's facilities across the globe for his team of superheroes. However, Lex discovers that Chloe is working on this project. In response, he hires a swift, blond vigilante, known as the brunette Dinah Lance in her everyday life, to stop Chloe and anyone who has hired her to work on the project.

Convinced by Lex that Green Arrow is a terrorist, Dinah, in her "black canary"-like persona, tries to stop him. However, things change when Clark is able to convince her that she might not be on the right side. Meanwhile, Lois is able to see her former lover, Oliver, once again, and uncovers a startling secret about him. This causes Lois to re-evaluate several important factors in her life.

This episode is excellent for several reasons- the action scenes were superb, and even the slower moments were very pivotal and very well-acted. It was important that these slower scenes were well-played, since they played such a huge role in the development of several ongoing relationships in the show.

Lana Lang has finally won me over!
colaof6 June 2016
Warning: Spoilers
It's a shame that it took 6 seasons and 11 episodes for the character of Lana Lang to win me over, but I am happy to report that she finally has. While arguing with Clark over Bizarro and the things she's done recently, Clark does what he usually does, and tries to make her the bad guy. But Lana does one better, and throws his constant hypocrisy in his face. Lana says, "every transgression I have made you have answered with a hypocritical judgement." Nail on the head Lana. Nail on the head. She follows that up with "no one can live up to your self-righteous standards." I give this honor away more often than I should, but truer words were never spoken. Do these words get through Clark's thick skull though? Of course they don't. Lana points out how she wakes up every morning knowing that she is going to fail in the eyes of the only person she's ever really loved, and then Clark throws the fact that she fell in love with Lex and Bizarro in her face. Worst of all, this actually seems to hurt Lana, while her words seemed to fall on deaf ears. I mean, is this guy for real? What does he expect? The only reason Lana ever fell for Lex was because Clark didn't trust her. Her and Lex had that in common. And as for Bizarro, not only does he look exactly like Clark, but from what I could see he seemed to be more considerate of Lana's feelings. Bizarro had his issues, but he genuinely seemed to care for Lana. None of that should matter though, because in the end Lana chose Clark over Bizarro. Does that mean anything to Clark though? Apparently not. God, what a jerk! Lana is better off without him. Another thing that bugged me in this episode is how Clark jumped all over Oliver for getting Chloe's help. The exact same thing Clark himself does in every single episode. How many times has Clark almost got Chloe killed? Too many to count? Yeah, that's what I thought. Just because the show is all about Clark Kent shouldn't give him a pass to be a complete jerk. Why is Clark allowed to get away with everything, and yet Lex, Lana, and sometimes even Chloe get painted as the bad guys when a lot of the time, what they've done, isn't any worse than what he's done? Just once I'd like for someone to throw the truth in Clark's face, and it actually get through, but it never does. If anyone could have succeeded I would have thought it would be Lana, but not even her can get through to him. He is so freaking ignorant! As much as I enjoyed the return of Green Arrow, and the introduction of Black Canary, as usual Clark's hypocrisy is too big a hurdle for me to overcome. He tried to make up for it by admitting to Lana some of the bad things he did in Metropolis way back when he was infected with red kryptonite, but it was too little too late. Props to Lana for her earlier points, even though she ultimately backed off in the end. For that brief moment she was the one who really shined in this episode, and made it worth watching. Still only worth 6/7 stars though.

A lot of things I can't believe
Alice19407 November 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Currently binge watching all seasons again, haven't seen in years, and I can't believe Lana is even worse than I remembered, I can't believe Clark yet again got back with her and I can't believe there is a review on here actually taking her side in turning the blame on Clark this episode. This and the last episode showcase why Lana is so hated, she is horribly wrote, even the villians on the show are more likable than her, I really feel like the writers wanted us to hate her, having to sit through her and Clark's insufferable relationship for 7 seasons is painful, Clark can do and does do much better than her. She is meant to be so in love with Clark but can't tell him apart from someone wearing his face with a complete opposite personality, she even had to nerve to tell Chloe to move on from him when Chloe noticed the difference, and she doesnt even believe Clark when he tells her! My God. Then this episode she has the nerve to try to make it like it's Clarks fault that she keeps falling for men who aren't Clark and it's Clark's fault she keeps lying to him, and it's Clarks fault she couldn't tell between the man she supposedly loves from a phantom, the list goes on, I was so glad when Clark responded to her turning the blame on him by calling her out on this but then he ruined it by yet again going back to her, in fact had she ran away with Bizarro last episode I'm pretty sure everyone would have been happy, especially since they had a better relationship in half an episode than her and Clark ever did, because Lana and Clark are just not meant to be, they don't go well together, they don't understand each other or even know each other really, all they do is make each other miserable and the fact it was dragged out for 7 seasons is insane, it really drags the show down, when have they ever been happy together? All I can think of is that one episode where he was human. All of Lana's relationships are pretty bad, her first season boyfriend was probably her best, anyway Clarks relationship with Lana was terrible and would have done the show a massive favour by ending it sooner but yet again they want to continue beating a severely dead horse so he makes up with her yet again at the end of this episode, how on earth can you even come back from that? She literally couldn't tell you apart from a phantom that she was living with for weeks and even sleeping with him (her and Clark don't even sleep together), and falls more in love with him than the real Clark and to add in all the lies and secrets she has been feeding him lately, how can you pick up a relationship after that like? She literally fell more in love with someone pretending to be you than actual you, if there was ever proof needed that you don't belong together that's it, they even admit at the end that Clark is doubting that Lana is the one for him but yet still wants to get back with her, ridiculous, I want to scream everytime they're on the screen, it wasn't so bad in the first few seasons but after 7 SEASONS!!! I just can't take it anymore, Clark is a total moron for Lana, always was and god only knows why, the only thing she has going for her is her pretty face, as for the review and Lana saying Clark has hypocritical standards, how does he when he actually does for the most part live up to his own standards? And excuse Clark for actually wanting a nice girlfriend, that's all the standards he has for Lana and it's somehow Clark's fault she can no longer meet these standards. Clark isn't asking for her to be perfect, he's just asking for her not to keep falling in love with other men and lying about everything, especially after the fact he told her his big sercret of being an alien, the whole reason he came clean is so they could have trust and then she just starts lying instead of him and her lies are far less noble than Clarks were. Even what went down with Lex, she somehow got away from any blame in that too, yes what Lex did to her with the baby was horrible but it was Lana who got herself into that mess, it is Lana who slept with Lex and agreed to marry him but somehow this is forgotten just because she was going to call off the wedding after she spied on Clark to get his secret, she gets no blame in the show for anything she does, it's always someone elses fault and then with her kidnapping Lionel and pretending it's for Clark's sake LOL Lionel has been helping Clark more than Lana ever did and then her spying on lex and trying to frame him for her murder, and she fakes her own death leaving those that love her in pain thinking she is dead, just horrible and not to mention the girl she kidnapped and woudn't bring to the hospital because she wanted to monitor her, the list goes on and on but no matter what she does Clark will still go back to her and she will still recieve no blame, she has to be one of my least favourite characters ever, and this episode angered me especially after the last one.

Lana should have been gone from the show seasons ago or at least her and Clark should have stayed broken up, when she got with Lex their relationship should have ended then, she literally slept with Clark's enemy and was going to marry him, Clark should have walked away then. Or at the very least this time after Bizarro but no, and then again later this season when Lana leaves the show, they should have left it there but YET AGAIN they get back together for the few episodes next season, which i still cannot believe they actually brought her back again next season, and tried to turn them into star crossed lovers and it was ridiculous, the writers just couldn't leave them end their relationship maturely by admitting they weren't supposed to be together, no instead they had to write how they're forced apart, Lois deserved much better than that, thankfully the later seasons do develop it so well that in season 9 or 10 had Lana come back and been able to be with Clark he would not choose her over Lois at all as he has actually found the one he is meant to be with but it still is annoying what they did in season 8, Lana should never have been brought back. Basically Lana and Bizarro were a better couple than Lana and Clark lol.
