In Africa, no sphere of society escapes enchantment and magic. From abandoned women resorting to love potions to football teams over-energized by spells, till even in the high instances of politics. To penetrate this strange universe, it was essential for us to work in pairs, not only to deepen our understanding of this society but also not to lose ground in the irrational. For behind the omnipresence
of the marvelous lies a more disturbing aspect: that of witchcraft. This delicate subject has become the
starting point of our film; to approach it, we decided to place ourselves on the side of the ngunzas, a brotherhood of traditional healers in Brazzaville, in charge of fighting bad spells. Thus, we met the apostle Medard who, opening his temple to our camera, became the main character of Kongo.
