The hottest new reality show can be found on YouTube. That’s where the Sidemen have dropped five episodes of Inside, which combines the energy of Love Island with the setting of Big Brother and the brisk pace of creator content.
Inside features a cast of characters that ranges from social media stars to traditional TV celebrities. The players — including creators like Joe Weller and Fanum and reality vets like Love Island‘s Chloe Burrows — live with one another in a house set and compete in regular challenges. Depending on how the group performs in the challenges, money is subtracted from a prize pool that begins at £1 million (approximately $1.27 million). By “buying” luxuries like hot showers, tea, and snacks, the contestants take even more money away from the ultimate prize.
The first episode of Inside hit the main Sidemen YouTube channel on June 2. Like most videos published by the U.

MrBeast has brought his brand into another video game. The YouTube star’s latest partnership is a deal with Zynga‘s Socialpoint studio centered around the mobile game Top Troops.
Top Troops is a strategy game launched last year by Socialpoint, the studio acquired by Take-Two in 2017. (Take-Two became Zynga’s parent company after closing a $12.7 billion deal in 2022.) Top Troops players who download the game on either iOS or Android devices can now take part in the MrBeast Battle Challenge, which was designed in tandem with the titular creator (whose real name is Jimmy Donaldson.)
The MrBeast Battle Challenge is a 14-day gauntlet filled with challenges that look like they came out of a MrBeast video. The creation of “MrBeast-themed obstacles” is nothing new for North Carolina-based Donaldson. Last year, he jumped into another casual game when he designed levels and characters for Scopely’s Stumble Guys.

This week, a trickshot channel caught our attention, but the channels at the front of the U.S. Top 50 didn’t need any tricks to reach the summit of our ranking. The top five chart leaders all pulled in at least 400 million weekly views.
Four of the top five finishers in the U.S. Top 50 also reached those heights last week, but there’s a new #1 atop the heap.

MrBeast moved up two spots to claim the #1 spot in the U.S. Top 50. Jimmy Donaldson‘s primary YouTube channel typically experiences viewership surges in the days that follow new video releases, and the first week of April was no exception.

Younger audiences flock to social media platforms like YouTube and TikTok, and stars of those services could find themselves with streaming deals soon.
MrBeast is officially coming to Prime Video. On March 18, Amazon announced a new output deal with YouTube star Jimmy Donaldson. Better known by his moniker of MrBeast, Donaldson is the owner of the second largest viewer base on YouTube with over 247 million subscribers, second only to Indian record label T-Series. Donaldson’s deal with Amazon will see his hugely popular “Beast Games” YouTube series become the biggest reality TV competition in history. For younger generations, social media and creator-distributed content far surpass traditional linear and streaming video consumption, so this deal shows that streaming providers are keeping a watchful eye on the viewing habits of younger generations. It still remains to be seen

Jimmy Donaldson is getting more shine from traditional media. Nearly two years after he graced the cover of Rolling Stone‘s first Creator Issue, the man known as MrBeast has hit the front page of another magazine: Time. The 101-year-old news publication featured Donaldson in a story about his “swift rise” on YouTube and his status as “the most-watched person in the world.”

YouTube is not officially available in China, but that’s not stopping YouTube’s biggest star from establishing himself in the Chinese market. MrBeast (real name Jimmy Donaldson) received millions of views on his first BiliBili upload after joining the social video service on January 22.
On his BiliBili account, Donaldson will share the big-budget spectacles that regularly reel in hundreds of millions of views on YouTube. To kick things off, the man known as MrBeast introduced himself to Chinese viewers and prompted them to “subscribe for a dumpling.”
Donaldson is making a play for Chinese viewership in partnership with Eyal Baumel and Yoola. Baumel, who is known for working with creators like Rebecca Zamolo and Nastya Radzinskaya, is the former President of Yoola and an expert in content globalization. He has discussed localization at events like VidSummit, which counts MrBeast as one of its owners). He is now helping Donaldson...

Amazon Studios is getting into business with YouTube personality MrBeast.
The 25-year-old comedian, né Jimmy Donaldson, who has over 230M subscribers on the Google-owned platform, is nearing a deal with the streamer for an unscripted competition series.
Details about the series are still under wraps and Amazon declined comment.
MrBeast is the most-subscribed individual and second-most subscribed account overall on YouTube. His social media career began when he first posted on the platform at 13, though he rose to fame in 2017 when a video of MrBeast counting to 100,000 went viral.
He also has a number of other business interests including food company Feastables, which launched his own line of chocolate bars and launched a Fast channel on Roku last year.
He was also a judge on Fox’s Gordon Ramsay’s Food Stars last May.
The news was first reported by Puck.

MrBeast is playing Santa with the Shop app.
His latest video–where two people tried to stay for 100 days instead a specially built isolation chamber to win $500K–is sponsored by Shop, an ecommerce app owned by frequent MrBeast partner Shopify.
And, in typical MrBeast fashion, the sponsorship comes with a giveaway. Anyone (in certain regions) who goes to the MrBeast store in the Shop app can request a holiday gift from him. He throws out a couple suggestions: a Tesla, Yu-Gi-Oh! cards, Feastables.

Back in September, Shopify put out a call: It would give up its ad slot in one upcoming MrBeast video to a small business that could use the exposure.
That small business ended up being Kanga Coolers.
“Kanga Coolers started as a project for an entrepreneurship class at Clemson University in South Carolina. It could have stopped there, but the founders didn’t give up on their idea,” Shopify–a longtime partner of MrBeast–wrote in a LinkedIn post.
It added that “So many” businesses responded to its giveaway, but Kanga was the one that “came out on top.”
Kanga Coolers was invented by classmates Logan Lamance, Austin Maxwell, and Ryan Frazier in 2017. The three were tired of warm beer, so invented a soft case that fits around a small case of beer and, they say, keeps it cold for up to seven hours without the use of ice.

There wasn’t much movement at the front of the Global Top 50 this week. The channels with the highest seven-day view counts on YouTube have stayed relatively consistent since the start of October.
India is the most-represented country in the Global Top 50 with 18 entrants, but the returning chart leader hails from the other side of the world.

Shares of Roku soared 12 percent in after hours trading Wednesday after the company beat Wall Street revenue expectations and saw improvements in its advertising business.
The company reported total net revenue of $912 million, up 20 percent year-over-year. Platform revenue at Roku, which is primarily generated from ads, has also been increasing, reaching $787 million, up 18% year-over-year, the company says, thanks to “diversifying demand sources of advertisers” on the platform, as well as expanding the number of partnerships with companies such as Spotify and Walmart.
“In Q3, the macro environment continued to pressure the overall U.S. advertising market, with ad spend on traditional linear TV down 12% YoY, and traditional TV ad scatter down 27% YoY (according to Smi). Conversely, we saw continued signs of rebound: In Q3, the YoY growth of video advertising on the Roku platform outperformed both the overall ad market and the linear TV ad market in the U.S,...

If there were such a thing as a “Misinterpreting the Message of Your Own TV Show Contest”, Netflix would be winning it in a walk when it comes to Squid Game. The Korean series created by Hwang Dong-hyuk is both a survival drama and scathing critique of a late capitalistic hellscape in which engaging in a 456-player battle to the death for ₩45.6 billion is preferable to trying to make it in the dismal real world.
Since the massively successful series first premiered on Netflix in late 2021, the streamer has responded to its anti-capitalistic themes by: underpaying its creator, having Netflix’s millionaire CEO dress up as one of the desperately poor contestants during an earnings call, and most glaringly: commissioning a reality competition based on the show’s deadly games. Of all the ways in which Netflix has terminally missed the mark on its own creation, it’s undoubtedly that...

On TikTok, some viewers recently saw an ad in which MrBeast offered a deal that seemed too good to be true. It was.
In the spot, MrBeast (whose real name is Jimmy Donaldson) promised to give away 10,000 iPhone 15 Pro devices for just $2 apiece. But days after the promotion went live, the real Jimmy Donaldson took to X to tell viewers that he did not film the ad himself. The character seen in the video was nothing more than an AI-generated deepfake designed to resemble the 25-year-old creator.
“Lots of people are getting this deepfake scam ad of me…are social media platforms ready to handle the rise of AI deepfakes?” Donaldson wrote. “This is a serious problem.”

As he expands his Feastables brand beyond candy bars, Jimmy Donaldson is working with one of his long-time collaborators. The man known as MrBeast has introduced Karl’s Gummies, a sweet treat that features Karl Jacobs‘ face on its packaging.
Donaldson and Jacobs introduced Karl’s Gummies in early April, when the duo starred in an out-of-this-world video for Feastables’ social accounts. Jacobs, dressed as an astronaut, creates an interstellar, apple-flavored explosion. He ends up marooned, but he at least gets a tasty treat to snack on while he floats through space.

As MrBeast fans have gotten their hands on the latest Feastables product, they’ve offered their reviews across social media. Two Walmart employees gave the gummies positive...

You don’t rack up 140 million YouTube subscribers without winning yourself some toxic fans. Jimmy Donaldson — a.k.a. MrBeast — has his share despite a personal brand built around positivity, as well as goofy, expensive stunts.
One of the most-watched creators online, Donaldson styles his MrBeast channel as an institution of philanthropic fun, staging massive cash giveaway competitions that double as viral videos. But all the money in the world can’t shield you from the culture wars, and now MrBeast fans are split regarding his friend and collaborator Chris Tyson.

This week, the leading channels in our U.S. Top 50 widened the gap between themselves and the competition. Only six U.S.-based channels received at least 300 million weekly views.
The #1 channel in the chart didn’t just reach that benchmark. It nearly doubled it.

Cocomelon – Nursery Rhymes may soon give up its 10-week streak at the front of our Global Top 50, but a c-c-c-combo breaker in the U.S. Top 50 seems much farther away. As the calendar turned over to April, Cocomelon continued to upload about three new videos per week, and that volume was high...

YouTube is making it much easier for creators to reach audiences in multiple languages.
Up till now, if a creator wanted a particular video to be accessible to viewers in another language, they would have to create a separate upload of that video, often on a separate channel, with a dubbed-over voice track. And if that sounds like a pain, remember this separate upload was just for one language. Imagine if a creator wanted their videos to be accessible in two, or three, or five, or ten different languages, to reach as many potential viewers as possible.
MrBeast doesn’t have to imagine: For years, he uploaded dubbed-over versions of his main channel’s English-language videos to nearly a dozen side channels targeted at international audiences. The whole process was, he said, “a lot more work.”
YouTube hopes its new feature for creators will lessen that workload.
