Not the Boyle I'm used to but I enjoyed it!

A lot more understated than his usual work and scaled back from his funniest work no doubt to fit in with what the bbc would be allow. That said there were some great jokes of varying offends levels which the majority worked and stranger than anything I actually learned something during most episodes. This is almost half comedy half serious travel guide so if you like the sound of some serious informative moments and other darkly comic moments or at times the two combined this is most likely for you!

Brilliant intelligent humour. However not for the feeble minded or easily offended.

A masterpiece of TV. This guy does not hold back. Did anyone at the BBC actually watch this before broadcast? The "brake cables" gag! I had to pause and realize what he had just said. The first episode was actually quite mild. I bet that was on purpose. He knew the BBC would only watch the 1st episode.

I don't have much to say other than I love Frankie Boyle and i love stand up comedy. As i am an Englishman I only watched this because of Frankie and not through any desire to see a travelogue based in Scotland. I have loved every minute of it so far though,Scotland looks pretty and Frankie is hilarious as usual. I think it's harsh that a previous reviewer gave the show one star based on Frankie's 'potty mouthed night-club routine'. He's Frankie Boyle!Potty mouthed stand up comic. He's not the Krankies. It's a bit naive to expect anything else. Just watch all of it before complaining, you might enjoy some of it.

Disappointing beginning

I have a Scottish background so when I discovered this mini series I was delighted. However, instead of touring Scotland Mr Boyle starts with his potty-mouthed night club routine.

I may be more prudish than most, and we've come to expect bad language in many of our dramas, but when you watch a documentary you expect a higher level of presentation than Glasgow street language.

So, we stopped watching before we got to the travelogue. It's likely we missed a good show, but I don't need to be subjected to night club humour when I want to watch a documentary.
