Speaking about the works of Vladimir Popov in general and about the animation "Bobik visiting Barbos," in particular, cinema expert Sergey Kapkov noted that they "are solved in a humorous way, they are distinguished by fascinating scenes, juicy characters, light, bright drawings, musicality".
In 2005, the animation was included in the cartoon collection "The Watchdog and Company", published on DVD by the Soyuzmultfilm studio.
In the 1990s, an audio fairy tale based on the animation with the text of Aleksandr Pozharov was released on audio cassettes by Twic Lyrec.
