It depends for power almost wholly on the acting of one player

This is an intensely interesting picture. It depends for power almost wholly on the acting of one player (the human tigress) who capably creates the impression that if she is crossed in her purpose something very distressing indeed will happen. She does this almost wholly by facial expression. The impression is maintained with much skill, both by the actress and by the producer who arranged the lighting and accessories, especially at the climax, when the tigress, candle in hand, is taking her way from room to room towards her victim's apartment. But the denouement is quite inadequate. She sets the apartment on fire; anyone could have done as much, even with only half her capabilities. We don't see the victim die; we don't know how many victims there are. When the lover and the tigress are seen again, it is with surprise, as for a moment we thought the tigress was the other woman, who was burned, as we know later, for we are shown her grave. - The Moving Picture World, June 17, 1911
