The series stars Lovie Simone and Michael Cooper Jr. and hails from creator Mara Brock Akil. The official logline states the series is “an epic love story of two Black teens exploring romance and their identities through the awkward journey of being each other’s firsts, set in Los Angeles, 2018.”
Hemingway will direct four episodes in total — the second and third as well as the seventh and eighth episodes, specifically. He will also now serve as an executive producer on the series. It was previously announced that Regina King would be directing the pilot and executive producing the series as well.

When the news came that Power Book II: Ghost was ending, I'll admit it floored me.
Since the ending of the original Power, the continued universe has seen much success. Still, being the first and a direct continuation of the original, Power Ghost has probably amassed the greatest popularity.
But they say all good things must come to an end, and the end of Ghost has me wondering what happens next for the longstanding franchise.
We know that another Power spinoff is coming; this one is a starter story for Ghost and Tommy.
Power Book III: Raising Kanan has proven to be a compelling and worthwhile look into Kanan Stark's upbringing, and considering the franchise's track record, there's no reason to believe the Ghost and Tommy spinoff will be any different.
Everything started with that duo, and it feels like a no-brainer to explore their beginnings and expand things through their backstory.

The longtime rapper and music producer saw his Miami and LA homes raided by federal agents in connection to sexual assault allegations and the solicitation and distribution of illegal narcotics and firearms.

Set in the summer of 1986, The 4:30 Movie is a coming-of-age story about three sixteen-year-old friends who spend their Saturdays sneaking into movies at the local multiplex. But when one of the guys also invites the girl of his dreams (Siena Agudong) to see the latest comedy, each of the teens will learn something serious about life and love before the credits roll.
Set in the mobile phoneless, social media-free era of the ’80s, Smith shot The 4:30 Movie at his Smodcastle Cinemas in New Jersey—the same movie theater he haunted every weekend as a teenager. Two years ago, Smith and his co-owners saved the century-old Atlantic Highlands bijou from demolition, renaming it after his podcast theater.

The Power universe expanded considerably following the demise of the original series in 2020.
After the news that Power Book II: Ghost would conclude with its forthcoming fourth season, there were questions about what that meant for Power Book III: Raising Kanan.

The news dropped while production on Power Book III: Raising Kanan Season 4 was underway, meaning that fans still have at least two seasons of the show to look forward to.

The third Power spinoff will outlive the second.
Starz has renewed Power Book III: Raising Kanan for a fifth season, with the pickup for the spinoff starring Mekai Curtis coming as the fourth cycle of the show is in production in New York. Creator Sascha Penn will return as showrunner and exec producer.
The renewal means Raising Kanan will officially outlive Power Book II: Ghost, as the latter series will conclude with its upcoming fourth season. When Power touched down on Starz 10 years ago, it was clear the premium cabler had found a big hit.
After a decade on the air, the main show is over, three spinoffs are on the air, and a fourth is on the way.
Power: Origins scored a formal pickup this week, and the concept is sure to get fans talking.
The series delves into the earlier years of Ghost and Tommy, played by Omari Hardwick and Joseph Sikora in the original series.
Hardwick’s journey as Ghost concluded in 2020 with the end of the original series, while Sikora continues to play Tommy in the sequel series Power Book IV: Force.
It’s unclear at this stage whether Hardwick and Sikora are involved in the prequel in any capacity, but we would certainly enjoy their narration if the story allows for it.

Just one day after Deadline reported that Starz boss Jeff Hirsch's plan with the network is to end costly series after about four seasons while still keeping franchises alive, news hit that Power Book II: Ghost Season 4 will be its last.
But with the bad news comes the good. Ghost will not be gone forever, as Origins will be a prequel about Tommy and Ghost before they were the men we've come to know.
In the meantime, we've also got a trailer for Ghost and thoughts about it winding down.
For someone who’s fought every comparison to his father, Tariq is certainly looking a lot like his not-so-dearly departed father.
Coming hot off the heels of the Starz announcement that the Power universe is expanding yet again in the form of a Ghost and Tommy-centric spinoff, we got the sad news that the Og spinoff will be saying goodbye.

Fans of the Power franchise are losing Ghost again — but this time, it’s the series.
Starz has canceled Power Book II: Ghost, with the show’s fourth season to serve as its last. It will be broken into two parts, premiering June 7 and September 6. Watch the teaser above.
The move was prefaced by Starz CEO Jeffrey Hirsch this week when he revealed plans to contain content costs by developing more new shows versus sustaining series longer as they become more expensive.
Using the Power franchise as an example, he said: “You look at the [Power] map and say, ‘Ok, if I take one of those characters out and spin one of those out, I can bring that on to replace the Power show at half the cost.’ Now I’m putting a lot of money right to the bottom line. And I’m really not losing anything in terms of acquisition costs and subscriber viewership,...

Ghost and Tommy are getting their own “Power” origins story. As Starz continues to span the “Power” universe into multiple series, the network is ready to announce the official fourth spinoff. The network confirmed Wednesday that it is developing the “Power” prequel series “Origins,” which will follow the beginning story of characters Ghost and Tommy, played in the original “Power” by Omari Hardwick and Joseph Sikora.
Sascha Penn (“Power Book III: Raising Kanan”) will serve as the executive producer for “Origins,” which comes from Lionsgate TV. (It’s unclear whether it will actually be called “Power Book V: Origins.”)
The first “Power,” which debuted in 2014, starred Hardwick as James St. Patrick, a nightlife entrepreneur who is also a massively successful cocaine distributor known on the streets as “Ghost.” He rules that empore alongside his childhood friend Tommy, played by Sikora.

“Gary has been a major creative force in the ‘Power’ universe,” said Kevin Beggs, Lionsgate Television Group chair and chief creative officer. “We look forward to extending our partnership as we collaborate with Starz to create new and unexpected franchise extensions for ‘Power’ fans.”
Lennon previously worked on “Power” during the show’s six-season run at Starz. He has also worked on the Starz/Lionsgate shows “Hightown” and “P-Valley,” as well as the Netflix series “Orange Is the New Black,” which was produced by Lionsgate Television.
“Lionsgate Television has been the ideal production partner,” said Lennon.

Starz's Power Universe has been responsible for a lot of great things over the years: iconic characters, explosive spinoffs (and a prequel), and one of the most captivating franchises in television history. Perhaps the best of them all is the friendship it birthed between two of its biggest stars: Michael Rainey Jr. and Gianni Paolo.
The "Power Book II: Ghost" actors first met during season five filming of their parent series, a crime drama about a man living a double life as a businessman and drug dealer. The Starz staple ran for six seasons before Rainey Jr. and Paolo were tapped to lead the franchise's first spinoff. As the two have previously recalled, their "Power" friendship wasn't instantaneous at all. In fact, they barely spoke on their first day on set together outside of their scenes. But as they tell Popsugar, something truly "organic" followed suit shortly thereafter.

Sza’s new music video for her hit “Snooze” will keep you awake: It features cameo appearances by Justin Bieber, Beef actor Young Mazino, Power Book II: Ghost star Woody McClain and songwriter-producer Benny Blanco.
Sza released the video Friday, which features the famous men playing her love interests. The pairs are shown doing everything from lying on the grass in the park and rolling a joint in bed to feeding horses and arguing with her man (McClain) while he plays video games. Sza directed the clip with Bradley J. Calder.
Sza and Bieber have yet to collaborate musically, but the singer and wife Hailey Bieber enjoyed a date night in March at Sza’s Los Angeles concert. Mazino is a rising star who recently earned an Emmy nomination for outstanding supporting actor in a limited or anthology series or movie for Beef, while McClain’s credits include The Harder They Fall,...

Exclusive: M88 on Tuesday announced its signing of Andrew Lopez, a fast-rising multi-hyphenate who, with appearances on Apple TV+’s Platonic and FX’s The Bear, has made his mark on two of the most buzzy series in recent memory.
An accomplished writer, director, and stand-up currently enjoying a breakout moment on the acting front, Lopez found his most substantial role to date opposite Seth Rogen and Rose Byrne on Platonic, the comedy series from Nicholas Stoller and Francesca Delbanco, which debuted on Apple’s streamer in May. The show centered on Rogen’s brewer Will and Byrne’s stay-at-home mother Sylvia — a pair of longtime friends reconnecting as adults, after some time apart — has Lopez playing Reggie, the brother of the former’s ex-wife, who butts heads with him as a co-investor in his bar.
