- After Beth saves him, Mick tries to avoid her. Beth investigates the murder of an escort, while Mick locates a couple's estranged daughter. The two cases are related so they have to work together, a new development in their relationship.
- Since returning from their desert experience during which Beth saved Mick's "life" by letting him feed on her blood, the two of them have gone their separate ways. Beth has been planning a dinner party for her one year anniversary with Josh Lindsey while pursuing a story about a possible serial murderer of internet escort girls. Mick has been hired to locate a couple's daughter who went missing not long after she and her friend Natalie moved to L.A. to seek their fortunes. Mom and Dad's only knowledge of their daughter's whereabouts is from an internet escort site bearing her picture and the name "Cherish."
In his search for "Cherish," Mick consults his vampire friend Josef, who introduces him to computer maestro Rider England who, in just a few minutes, has found Cherish's website and tracked down her home address. When Mick visits her apartment, however, he learns that she has been murdered, and his nose tells him that a vampire was involved. Meanwhile, Beth's dinner party is interrupted by a call from her contact at the morgue. If she hurries on down, she can view the badly-bitten body of the murdered escort girl.
Beth arrives at the morgue just minutes before Mick and his clients arrive to identify the body. While Beth hides in the next room, Mom and Dad take one look and realize that it's not their daughter. When everyone has left, Mick confronts Beth. After realizing that they are looking for different girls but wound up together again (fate?), Beth forces Mick to admit that something happened between them when he drank her blood. Mick also confirms that a vampire appears to have been involved in the murder, and Beth offers to help Mick find his missing girl if he will help her find the vampire that killed her. They agree to meet later at Josef's apartment.
Mineo was turned when he was only 16 years old. Now, 197-1/2 years later, he's still in his pimply, sexually-frustrated, 16-year old body, and the only way he can find girls is by getting internet escorts to go out with him. After feeding on and killing "Cherish", who actually turned out to be Cherish's ex-roommate Natalie Hall, Mineo has found the real Cherish's phone number from Jazzmyn's address book and arranged a meeting that afternoon at Greene's Bar.
Meanwhile, Rider has identified the murder victim as Natalie "Jazzmyn" Hall and come up with a list of all the telephone calls she received during the 24 hours preceding her death on the assumption that one of them is probably the killer. When Beth arrives at Josef's apartment, she gets busy calling each number, pretending to be Jazzmyn and looking for the one guy who is surprised that Jazzmyn is still alive. It is the call to Mineo that surprises them when he identifies Beth as "Cherish" and reminds her, in his young teenager voice, about their date at Greene's. Rider traces the call and gets Mineo's address, so Mick and Beth pay him a visit. Unfortunately, the FBI have also located Mineo's apartment. When Beth and Mick show up, they are temporarily detained. The FBI has profiled Mineo as a "38-45 year old loner," but Mick sees acne cream and a photo that confirms Mineo may be a teenage vampire. Beth pockets Jazzmyn's address book and, when she looks through it, she finds a photo of Jazzmyn and Cherish together. Mick recognizes Cherish as the missing daughter. Beth calls the phone number on the back of the photo, but Cherish doesn't answer.
Knowing who they are looking for now, Mick and Beth head over to Greene's Bar on the Pacific Park amusement pier, where Cherish is already beginning to rue making a date with this horny teen. Beth tries once again to phone Cherish. This time Cherish answers, but she drops the phone when Mineo grabs her arm. Mick takes the phone and tries to talk with Mineo, telling him that he is also a vampire and understands what Mineo is going through. However, Mineo drops the phone and leads Cherish out onto the pier. Mick follows him to a photobooth, but Mineo frees Cherish and runs away. Mick follows him out on the pier but looses him when Mineo hides under it. Hours later, after the park closes, Mineo comes out of hiding only to find Mick waiting for him. Mineo tries to escape by climbing on the rides, but a roller coaster hits and beheads him.
Mick reunites Cherish with her parents then heads out to his car. Beth follows. "You could at least have said 'Goodbye'," she says. "Good...," Mick starts to say, but Beth stops him with a kiss. "...bye," he finishes. They kiss again. Beth turns away. Mick smiles.
