Writer/Director Alex Chung cites
Christopher Nolan's
Memento (2000) as an obvious influence but wanted to apply the formula to a fight scene, showing the outcome first then treading backwards to reveal the set-up. Appropriately, the big reveal in the story is that the whole thing was itself a set-up.
