Creative idea for a music video, decent execution

In the title here "Benny Blanco & Juice WRLD: Graduation" you can read the name of the singers as well as what their song is called from this little music video. Director is Jake Schreier, prolific with music video, but has also worked on some fairly famous films already. Anyway, for this 2019 music video he got a pretty decent cast together. We'll get to the names later. First I would like to say that this is indeed a cover of the Vitamin C song that has the same name and that I really love beyond what words can express. I am glad it is seen as a classic these days by some and if this cover here directs some people's attention back to the original I will not say anything negative. Still it took me one minute or one and a half minutes to get used to a male voice performing this song. Besides, I love Hailee Steinfeld in terms of both looks and acting and boy has she grown into a stunning young woman. Can't believe True Grit is already about a decade old. As for the rest of the list, I will not go into detail about the names, but you can check the list for yourself, no A-listers, but some familiar names and faces. One mention I do wanna give though to Maddie Ziegler and it was pretty hilarious how they joked about her magnificent dancing talent here. Brief scene only. Blink and it's gone. So better don't blink. It was a nice little idea that basically the entire music video is a post-credit sequence showing us what happened afterwards to the characters of a movie that never existed. The robot wars or what it was called references made me think with Steinfeld that this was linked to Bumblebee, but looking at the cast list and that nobody else seemingly from the cast here was in that film, this is not it. It is entirely original and without connection to other works it seems, even if they mention Steinfeld's Oscar nomination at the end. Pity she didn't win. But I think I would watch the film that came before this music video, even if it will never exist. Anyway, cool song and nice little idea here. Maybe you'll like it less than I did if you don't have the connection with Steinfeld or the Vitamin C song, but I give this one a maybe slightly generous 3 stars out of 5 and recommend checking it out.
