Si and Dave start their journey in Chicago learning about some of the migrants and cuisines drawn to the city. The pair receive an invitation to cook with the Amish before crossing the Mississippi and visiting St Louis.
The 2nd leg of their trip takes the boys through 3 states. They go fishing, visit the oldest continuously operating grocery store on the route, learn about the Tulsa Race Massacre and cook with members of the Cherokee nation.
The 3rd leg of the trip sees the boys on the trail of Oklahoma's famous beef. In Oklahoma City a T-bone steak is followed by pho. They try an onion burger in El Reno and make sweet potato brownies before meeting some cowboys.
Dave and Si ride from Texas into New Mexico on the 4th leg of their trip. Along the way they visit small, independently owned food businesses and cook some real favourites.
The duo cross Arizona in search of the Wild West. Along the way they enjoy a traditional Navajo barbecue, visit a cattle market, meet some African killer bees and talk to the man who saved Route 66.
For the last leg of their odyssey, the bikers head west to California. First, they make a small detour to Las Vegas, where they learn how to make the best mashed potato in the world.
