The name Kelly Blatz might not ring a bell, but the actor who starred in the TV series "Aaron Stone" and the thriller "Prom Night" is moving on up with TBS' new series "Glory Daze." The hourlong comedy (Blatz says it's similar to "The Hangover") centers on a dysfunctional frat foursome experiencing the hilarities—and pressures—of being college students in the 1980s. Also starring Matt Bush, Drew Seeley, and Hartley Sawyer, the show is loosely based on a 1995 film that starred Ben Affleck and Sam Rockwell.Blatz took time out of filming the ninth episode to talk about what he has learned, why taking general meetings is never a bad idea, and three directors he's dying to work with.Back Stage: How has your experience been, shooting with this young cast? Kelly Blatz: It's like we're all going to college and in a fraternity. It's a very...

Mark-Paul Gosselaar is lawyering up again at TNT, playing one of the title characters in a new series called "Franklin & Bash."
The cable channel announced the series pickup on Friday (May 14), while its sister network TBS has ordered a comedy about college life in the 1980s called "Glory Daze."
Both shows were originally developed for TBS, which is looking to add a couple of hour-long comedies to its roster of original shows. But "Franklin & Bash" was deemed a better fit at TNT, where it has a 10-episode order.
The show stars Breckin Meyer as Jared Franklin and Gosselaar, late of TNT's "Raising the Bar," as Steven Bash, a pair of street lawyers who are hired by a prestigious firm; culture clash ensues. The series will also feature Malcolm McDowell as the head of the firm, along with Dana Davis ("Heroes"), Reed Diamond ("Dollhouse"), Garcelle Beauvais ("NYPD Blue") and Kumail Nanjiani...

The Los Angeles Mission will make a difference for the homeless this Easter – with a little help from celebrity friends.
The Mission will serve 3,000 meals, provide Easter baskets with toys for children, and wash the feet of the homeless on Good Friday. Why feet washing? Easter Week foot washing is a Christian tradition – memorializing that Jesus washed the feet of his disciples the night before he was crucified. Many who are on the streets seldom have normal loving human contact – and this outreach of food, foot washing with podiatric care and new shoes is a way of inviting them to learn about the Mission’s services, including its long term program of restoration – in order to get off the streets permanently. The Los Angeles Christian Health Center uses this opportunity to address the foot problems suffered by many on the streets of Skid Row.

Toronto -- Cookie Jar Entertainment has tapped Bruce Kalish ("Power Rangers") to show-run its hybrid tween series "Mudpit" for the indie Canadian producer's teen and adult label, The Jar.
Production on 26 half-hours of "Mudpit" will start in April.
Kalish most recently created, wrote and executive produced the Disney Xd live action series "Aaron Stone," which was shot in Toronto.
"Mudpit," a blended live action and animated comedy, portrays four teens in a virtual band called Mudpit that are forced by a sudden hit single to balance their off-line teen lives with their virtual world stardom.
Kalish was hired by Burbank-based Tom Mazza, executive vp and head of worldwide TV, who was brought in last year to broaden Cookie Jar's programming into U.S. network series and syndicated fare after the Toronto-based producer acquired the global brand management group Dic Entertainment for $83 million in 2008.

Just call Kelly Blatz the go-to guy for Disney Xd.
When the Mouse repackaged its Toon Disney channel as a one-stop shop for tween and teen boys earlier this year, its first effort was the techno-laden adventure series Aaron Stone, which stars Blatz as a teen who divides his time between being a mild-mannered student and the titular planetary defender, equipped with the latest high-tech gadgets to fight off evil.
After Stone became a rock-solid hit, Disney Xd tapped Blatz to help it break into the realm of original movies with Skyrunners, premiering Nov. 27. Blatz plays Nick, who along with younger brother Tyler (newcomer Joey Pollari) discovers a UFO that has crashed to Earth. The spaceship has an effect on Tyler, who starts to develop superhuman abilities. It also helps the boys uncover a fiendish alien plot to take over the Earth. Disney is high on Kelly Blatz.
The actor has landed a starring role in his second live-action pilot for Jetix, the action-adventure programming block that airs on Toon Disney. Just last month, he was tapped to star on Aaron Stone.
Blatz now has been cast in Sky Runners, from executive producer/writer Rick Okie. The half-hour comedy, described as a modern-day Odd Couple with a UFO twist, revolves around two brothers, Tyler and Big Brother Nick (Blatz), who encounter a UFO one night after football practice. While they are divided on what to do with the UFO at first, they end up keeping it after learning that their new "toy" can fly them anywhere they want.
Peter Bray is producing, while Ralph Hemecker is set to direct the pilot, which begins shooting this week.
In Stone, Blatz stars as an ordinary 16-year-old whose life is altered when a rich recluse wants him to take his video game alter ego on for real because he believes that Charlie has what it takes to save the world.
