Via Entertainment Weekly it was reported that the crown falling off Viserys' head was an accident while shooting. "Matt just picked it up and we just kept going", "This felt like the turning point in their relationship". They liked the take so much that it made its way into the episode.
When Viserys is informed that his youngest grandson is also named Viserys, he says "A name fit for a king." This is a bit of a foreshadowing: Rhaenyra's son Viserys will eventually, many years later, become a king.
This is not the first time that Ty Tennant and Tom Glynn-Carney play the same character: in House of the Dragon (2022), they both play Aegon, with Ty playing the younger version and Tom playing the older version. They have done this before for the movie Tolkien (2019), where they both play the character Christopher Wiseman.
The title of the episode refers to the title given to Corlys Velaryon, who is in control of the royal navy on the Small Council.
When Alicent leaves the small council to greet Rhaenyra, she is intercepted and talks with Ser Erryk (Cargyll), mistaking him for his twin brother Ser Arryk (Cargyll), foreshadowing how identical they are, and their fight later on. In the books, when the fighting begins, they are divided: Erryk with Rhaenyra, and Arryk to Alicent. And later they fight each other on opposing sides, dying in their arms. The singers in Westeros supposedly wrote a song of this duel.
