Masterfully told. This story is beautiful, immersive, and thought-provoking. As I went on this journey with the Nomad, I couldn't help but feel empathy. The medium this story is told in creates an experience that you can typically only experience by traveling. This was an unexpected result for me. During a year when international travel has been halted, this film took me somewhere and showed me a place, a culture, and a person.
I have been so fortunate to have traveled and what I am always so surprised by is how much I connect with the people I visit. My worldview expands, and I feel empathy toward people I otherwise may not even know exist. Taking those experiences with me has only made me a more balanced global citizen - giving me more compassion and understanding of people locally or domestically. This film accomplished the same effect on me - it has broadened my mind and shown me people I may not otherwise know. No travel required, I went there.
Whether this was the storyteller's intention or not, it certainly was my experience. I feel like I was there. I feel I know the characters. In some way, silently observing in the room, in the same space as the Nomad, I think that I know him and understand him. I was so immersed at one point, I even reached out to touch elements in front of me as if I was truly standing there.
I think people should watch this story because of how beautifully it was told, and how it transports you to a place that is thought provoking and authentic - but I also believe it should be required viewing for anyone who is interested in VR, so they may understand what this medium can accomplish.
