Anurag Kashyap's short film which comprises of one segment in the upcoming compilation Bombay Talkies has run into trouble. Writer Nishant G. Ranjan claims that Kashyap's upcoming short film is apparently based on his work.
Nishant further claims that he had sent his story, revolving around a person who wanted to make Mr. Bachchan listen to the poems written on him, to Kashyap in 2011. However, since there was no reply form Anurag's side, Nishant forgot about it.
It was only on reading reports about Anurag's short film did Nishant realize the similarities between both the stories. On inquiring further, he figured that this was very much his own story, and he took up the case with the Film Writer's Association (Fwa).

Back in 2010, Pankh, featuring Bipasha Basu, Lilette Dubey, Mahesh Manjrekar, Ronit Roy, Sanjeeda Sheikh and newcomers Maradona Rebello and Amit Purohit, hit theatre screens across India. The film sunk without a trace, however, the writer- director Sudipto Chattopadhyay made several rounds of various film festivals with the film. Now, three years later, we hear that Sudipto is planning to take legal action against Zoya Akhtar for apparently lifting his film for her story in Bombay Talkies.
Apparently, after watching the trailer of Zoya's feature and learning about the storyline, Sudipto felt that Zoya has lifted the central idea of his film, for her upcoming Bombay Talkies. Further reiterating he says that Zoya's film is exactly what was shown in his, with almost every bit of the story line being similar. If that wasn't enough, Sudipto further claims that certain scenes have been blatantly lifted from his film without giving him credit.

John Abraham is the chosen one by Sanjay Gupta for his comeback film. The actor has been signed up for an action thriller which would be going on floors soon. This would also serve as a reunion for Sanjay Gupta and John Abraham who had last worked together in Zinda (2006). "For quite some time, Sanjay has been deciding on the starcast for his next multi-starrer. In fact this new action thriller that he would be directing is being pitched as the 'baap of all action entertainers' that have ever come out of Bollywood. It's a multi starrer and while there are number of other actors who are in the film, John is a prominent name to be on board", says a source closely attached to the film. After Zinda, Sanjay Gupta went on a sabbatical for five years and only shot for one of the short stories in Dus Kahaniyaan.

Sanjay Gupta may not really be able to bring his own life story on the big screen for wider audience with everything seemingly over for Alibaug. Launched with much fanfare almost four years back, the film is completely on the backburner, so much so that even Gupta is unsure about any further progress on it. Says a close friend of Gupta, "The film was a prestigious venture for Gupta, since it meant a diversion from the action fare being churned by his production house. He was looking at venturing into different cinema and while The Great Indian Butterfly and Pankh came in a little later, Gupta wanted Alibaug as his first take on some slice-of-life films. He was very attached to Alibaug as he wrote the film and had designed it as a quickie." However, this was the time when tragedy struck. There was rift between Sanjay Gupta and Sanjay Dutt...

Following the success of All The Best, Bipasha Basu’s fans are desperately longing to see her in Pankh, the movie in which she plays the alter-ego to Maradona Rebello and appears as in a variety of poses as a sultry seductress. Director Sudipto Chattopadhyay has modelled Bipasha on the legendary Italian actress Sophia Loren’s whose screen image he sees as eternal and with Maradona not being an established star, the film’s initial attraction is going to rest on Bips’ shoulders. "I didn't set out to project Bipasha as a fantasy in a dirty manner,” says Sudipto, “But her hot look has certainly helped us promote the film."
One of the problems being faced by Pankh, however, is that with the backlogue of movies in the can following the multiplex dispute, it’s struggling to find a release date, especially as it’s unusual plot is unlikely to have mass-market appeal,...

You probably think twelve avatars is quite an achievement for Priyanka Chopra in What’s Your Rashee? but that’s really yesterday’s thinking! In her new movie Pankh, Bipasha Basu has thirteen different avatars! She plays the imaginary alter-ego of Maradona Rebello, who plays the role of a young man who had once starred in movies as child actor Baby Kusum. Based on a real-life story, the film explores the damaged psyche of the young man and the events that lead up to his attempts to re-enter the industry.

Bipasha has done a remarkable job in the film. She walked an extra mile for it and agreed to do it in spite of it being a radical film instead of a commercial one.

Director Sudipto Chattopadhyay didn’t want the Censor Board chopping off the part where Bipasha Basu says the ‘F’ word in the film Pankh, even if it meant the film would get an A certificate. Bipasha says the word twice in the film and Sudipto was very sure that he didn’t want the Board either deleting the word or beeping it.
Some of the other characters in the film use foul language too, but those parts have been beeped. He just didn’t want Bipasha’s part to get deleted because in that scene she has a fight with Maradona, whom she stars opposite. She supports.

While Bipasha Basu is a thorough professional, she will never compromise on her health. She is known to be extremely health conscious and never smokes or drinks. She has, therefore, declined to even hold a cigarette, let alone smoke it, in her upcoming film, Pankh.
Director Sudipto Chattopadhyay wanted Bipasha to smoke on screen for an important part. But she is strictly against smoking and refused to do it. When she was given the choice of holding the cigarette, she rejected even that option. She felt that if she holds a cigarette or smokes it, she will be endorsing smoking. Finally, Sudipto came up.

"Right now I have just had a small taste of it but yes, when you do an hour-long workout like this, you actually will feel like you are flying. It's really fun," Bipasha said "There are a lot of women, and some of my friends too, who don't like to go to the gym and this kind of a workout is great fun because they will get to join a group class and there will be music."

Sanjay Gupta’s Pankh is a story of a young boy who is forced by his mother to act as a girl in the film industry. Sources say it is a very touching story and a break away from the normal, commercial film. Apparently, all the actors have put in a lot of effort for the movie. It seems while dubbing for the film Bipasha visited the Aradhna Studio for the recording. The studio seemed jinxed because whenever Bipasha would go there for dubbing, she would always have a sore throat and somehow couldn’t record. This happened around six times in a row so everyone started.

Sudipto Chattopadhyaya the director of Sanjay Gupta’s “Pankh” has really broken the shackles and gone ahead and made a bold movie. It’s a very emotional and touching movie; all the actors have put in lot of efforts for the movie.
Both Sudipto and Bipasha are Bengali’s and shared a great rapport on the sets. Both of them used to converse in Bengali on the sets leaving everyone confused about what they spoke. They shared a very good raport and friendship that Sudipto even bought Bangla food for Bipasha from home during the shoot. Both of them used to enjoy Bangla.
