Two federal lawmakers have sent a letter to the chief executives at Fox Corporation, the Walt Disney Company and Warner Bros Discovery (Wbd) expressing concern over their organization of a joint venture that is tasked with developing a sports-centric streaming service.
The letter, sent by Representatives Jerrold Nadler of New York and Joaquin Castro of Texas, included nearly two dozen questions exploring whether the proposed project tentatively called Raptor would benefit the three broadcasters over cable, satellite and streaming TV distributors.
As designed, Raptor will carry sports-inclusive broadcast and cable channels owned by the programmers when it launches later this year, including Fox, ABC, ESPN, Fox Sports 1, TBS, TNT and Tru TV. Absent from the service are ancillary entertainment and news channels like Fox News, CNN, Disney and FX, which carry little to no sports programming throughout the year.

Frightfest pick The Invisible Raptor Photo: Frightfest
The line-up for this year's Glasgow Frightfest was announced this week. Opening with Josiah Allen and Indianna Bell's psychological mystery You'll Never Find Me, which sees a request for shelter on a dark and stormy night turn into something much more unsettling, it will close with Alan Scott Neal and Taylor Sardoni's tale of small town desperation, The Last Straw. Brazilian newcomer Tiago Teixeira delivers paranoid erotic in Custom and Ireland's Paul Duane explores the ethics of ethnology and the power of music in All You Need Is Death, one of the most talked-about horror films of the year to date.
Other highlights include Wake Up, an environmental slasher from Turbo Kid team Rkss, and Mike Hermosa’s joyously silly splatterfest The Invisible Raptor.

Chilean filmmaker Felipe Gálvez, whose debut feature “The Settlers” premiered at this year’s Cannes Film Festival, has signed with CAA for representation.
Set in 1901, “The Settlers” centers on Segundo, a mixed-race Chilean, who rides south on an expedition led by a former Boer War English captain and an American mercenary to fence off land granted to Spanish landowner José Menéndez. Their mission soon turns into a “civilizing” raid. Based on true events, the Western exposes a particularly brutal period of Chile’s colonial history and the genocide of Indigenous tribes.
“I love to be controversial,” Gálvez told Variety about the uncomfortable questions the film poses about his country’s past. “If something is controversial, it’s a good sign. It means it’s interesting. I am trying to provoke with my film, because this conversation is far from over.”
Gálvez directed and co-wrote the film with Antonia Girardi, in collaboration with Mariano Llinás,...

HBO Max To Build ‘The Bridge’ In Hungary
HBO Max’s Hungarian arm will run a local version of Banijay survival format The Bridge. The format tasks bringing contestants together to build a 250-metre-long bridge to an island for the chance to win a large cash prize, and this latest deal marks its sixth international adaptation. Presented by Csaba Magyarósi, The Bridge Hungary is produced locally by Free Monkeys Production, based on the original Spanish format. Production took place neat Lake Belis in Romania, near the Hungarian border. Deadline understands it was given the greenlight before HBO Max stopped commissioning in the Cee region. Most production staff in Europe have now been let go, as Deadline revealed last month.

“Life finds a way.” Those famous words from Jeff Goldblum’s Ian Malcolm in the original Jurassic Park have been quoted, paraphrased, and meme-ified ad infinitum. But they take on a new ominous meaning in the first full trailer for this summer’s anticipated Jurassic World: Dominion.
Heralded as the “epic conclusion of the Jurassic era,” the trailer nonetheless appears to tease a whole new era for this franchise that’s ready to begin as soon as we meet everyone’s favorite velociraptor: Blue. The carnivorous dinosaur won hearts and minds for a species of predators that was the essential villain in the 1993 classic movie which started it all. But the determined pluck and loyalty of Blue, the biggest raptor raised from birth by gamesman Owen Grady (Chris Pratt), won folks over—especially after she teamed up with Owen and no less than a T. Rex (the raptors’ mortal enemy...

Stars: Chynna Walker, Richard Rennie, Mel Mede, Ken ’Gabby’ Mertz, Allen Lyster | Written by Gerald Rascionato, Joel Hogan | Directed by Gerald Rascionato
Claw, the latest film from director Gerald Rascionato and co-writer Joel Hogan has a bit of an identity crisis. The trailer promises a straightforward creature feature but the film’s tagline, “Do you think he-saurus? screams comedy, it’s even stolen from a joke told in Jurassic Park. The truth is, it’s an uneven mix of both.
Julia (Chynna Walker; Seven Short Films About (Our) Marriage) and Kyle (Richard Rennie; The Truth of It) are on their way to LA where she has a showcase performance for her standup routine. However when a coyote, probably chasing a roadrunner, runs in front of them they end up stranded in the middle of nowhere with a flat tire and have to spend the night in a ghost town with it’s only inhabitant,...

This is a busy week full of premieres, and at a time the world is crumbling, well, we need premieres!
And just to ensure that politics are never far out of reach, these premieres run the gambit of the political spectrum.
There is a documentary about fake news, alternate history addressing the treatment of Jews in America, a culture clash between two mothers, and even a line of female witches answering the call of duty to protect their motherland. Check it out!
Sunday, March 15
8/7c When Calls the Heart (Hallmark)
If you think Coronavirus is a big deal, then let it settle in that once upon a time, measles and chickenpox were catastrophic.
And on Wcth this week, Elizabeth, Carson, and Faith deal an outbreak of chickenpox, and Rosemary falls ill! Scary stuff.
And if that's not enough, things heat up as Nathan and Lucas stop hiding their feelings for the "town.
