The logline is being kept under wraps.
Although Skydance has been developing “Bermuda” for a while, the current version is still in its initial stages, and no writer is currently attached to it until the WGA strike ends. Webb will consult on the script, but it is not expected to take up co-writing duties.
David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, Don Granger will produce for Skydance. Aimee Rivera will oversee the project for Skydance.
Coming off the hugely successful “Top Gun: Maverick” and “Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One,” Skydance’s live-action film slate includes “Heart of Stone,” “Spy Kids: Armageddon” and “The Old Guard 2” for Netflix as well as “The Family Plan,” “The Gorge,” and “Mayday” for Apple TV+ and “Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part Two.

In 1998, Glen Salzman and Katherine Buck launched Montreal-based Cineflix Media with one of its first series, “Dogs with Jobs.” Unable to secure Canadian financing, they pitched the series at the Banff World Media Festival to international broadcasters during a market simulation session.
From there, the company produced five seasons of the factual series, which continues to sell internationally. More impressively, it was the beginning of Cineflix growing from a company with three factual shows into one of Canada’s largest independent producers, with creative, production and distribution arms in Montreal, Toronto, New York, London and Dublin.
Over the years, Cineflix has brought marquee talent and shows like “Property Brothers,” “American Pickers” and “Mayday: Air Disaster” to global audiences. Today, the group includes Cineflix Productions, Cineflix Rights, and Cineflix Studios, as well as joint venture companies Buccaneer, Connect3 Media, Husk Media and Shiny Screens Entertainment.

Riding high on the success of Dungeons & Dragons: Honour Among Thieves, writer/directors John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein are ready to put their next project into motion, action-adventure film Mayday. And from the sounds of it, they're gathering quite the cast, as Ryan Reynolds and Kenneth Branagh are the first to sign up.
Apple and Skydance are producing this one, which according to Deadline has a plot that is being kept quiet for now. Do we conjecture from the title that it'll involve someone being rescued? That remains to be seen.
The script for this one is reportedly finished, so even with the ongoing writers' strike, there's a chance it could shoot this year, after Reynolds is finished with Deadpool 3. Branagh, meanwhile, will be out and about later this year promoting his latest turn as director and star of a Poirot film, A Haunting In Venice, which...

Actors Ryan Reynolds and Kenneth Branagh are teaming up to star in ‘Mayday’, an action adventure film helmed by ‘Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves’ directors Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley.
The script was penned by the duo and was completed before the WGA strike that is currently going on in the US, reported the entertainment news magazine Deadline.
While the details for the feature have been almost entirely under wraps, the idea had apparently been germinating prior to Apple’s involvement.
Once Reynolds showed interest in joining the project this April, the development of the project started picking pace.
While the start date is still not determined, it seems very likely that this could be the next thing Reynolds shoots.
‘Mayday’ will be produced by Skydance Media CEO David Ellison alongside Skydance executive producers Dana Goldberg and Don Granger.

Mel Gibson is not producing a four-part documentary centered on child sex trafficking, TheWrap has confirmed.
False reports of the Oscar-winning actor and filmmaker’s involvement in the project’s development with Operation Underground Railroad began circulating this week, leading Gibson’s publicist and the nonprofit organization’s founder Tim Ballard to release statements debunking the claims.
“Mel deserves all the credit for taking the initiative to further the critical work that we do,” Ballard said in a statement Thursday. “I am personally grateful for his support as we worked on this documentary, however reports this four-part series is actually being produced by Mr. Gibson are not accurate. It’s being produced by Nick Nanton of DNA Films and includes several executive producers such as Kyle Cease, Tony and Sage Robbins and other wonderful and talented people.”

As the upcoming "Ahsoka" live-action series hovers on the horizon, the recent Star Wars Celebration announcement of Lars Mikkelsen taking up the blue make-up to reprise his legendary animated voice role in the full-bodied flesh sent waves of excitement through Star Wars fans. A main baddie for the final half of the "Star Wars Rebels" animated series created by Dave Filoni (showrunning again for "Ahsoka"), the ice-blue Chiss Admiral proved to be a formidable and terrifying threat to the Ghost crew. Mitth'raw'nuruodo's (Thrawn's Chiss name) epic (re)entrance into the public consciousness provided fond memories for Celebration attendees back in 2016, especially for the generation who grew up with the Legends novels that started with Timothy Zahn's 1991 "Heir to the Empire." That book kicked off an enduring Legends reign for Thrawn as an intelligent Imperial tactician who had no nonsense for Imperial stupidity.

Mark Cuban and Todd Wagner’s Magnolia Pictures has hired investment bank Stephens to explore selling the company.
Content is currently in high demand and Magnolia, a leading independent film distributor for two decades, has a substantial library of about 500 titles.
“We went through this process 8-10 years ago and did not sell it then, and we may not sell this time. But the climate this time is strong and we have done extraordinarily well,” president and co-founder Eamonn Bowles tells Deadline — including during the pandemic, with the library throwing off more cash than ever. “We have these ten year old films making more than in their third year,” he said.
A deal would follow hookups between Amazon-MGM (still pending) and the acquisition of Reese Witherspoon’s media company Hello Sunshine by a new Blackstone-backed group led by Kevin Mayer and Tom Staggs for a sum said to be about $900 million.

Indian film producers have set release dates for long-delayed Bollywood films that star the cream of the industry and have blockbuster potential.
The moves follow an announcement by authorities in the state of Maharashtra, India’s biggest box office territory, that cinemas can re-open on Oct. 22 as the pandemic dies down.

Visual effects and animation studio Dneg, whose credits include “Dune” and “No Time to Die,” will pay enhanced overtime to its U.K. employees.
From October, Dneg will pay overtime at 1.5x rate to all U.K. staff in non-management positions for all incremental time that they are asked to work beyond the standard 40-hour week. The move will bring Dneg’s U.K. overtime policy in line with its studios in North America and applies across its film and episodic visual effects, Dneg Animation and ReDefine operations, including its artist, production, technology and support teams.
The decision is a departure from the existing U.K. industry norm, where employees are compensated for overtime with paid time off after a project is completed.
Dneg has won multiple awards over the years. In 2021 alone, the company won the visual effects BAFTA and Oscar for Christopher Nolan‘s “Tenet.”

Heads-up on a movie that should be on your radars if it isn't already -- I saw director Karen Cinorre's debut film Mayday at Sundance back in February, and it's a fascinating feminist spin on the War Film starring a slew of super up-and-comer actresses, including personal beloveds Grace Van Patten (so great on Nine Perfect Strangers right now) and Mia Goth (oh how we love Mia Goth). Oh and Juliette Lewis is there too? Indeed she is! Here's a little of what I said about Mayday in February:
"Mayday... is plenty aware of... the limitations in adopting masculine ideas of violence and revenge. But unlike something like Zack Snyder's Sucker Punch, which Mayday feels like an explicit rebuke of, there's no fetishization of girls play-acting tough guy roles -- their past wounds don't become level-up Barbie-costumes that wrap their sexual assaults in pleather bustier pseudo-feminist bullshit.
