not as great as the title suggest!
ottoRivers13 August 2008
I totally agree with the other reviewers, it's still a fun film to watch if like school girls, T&A, gore and craziness but the script is so disjointed and illogical that it stopped it in it's tracks many times. It's just like if the makers had some few good ideas and they try to make an entire film around them, it's bring us to the old Roger Corman times when they first find a tittle and a poster and then try to make something of it, with most the of the time deceptive results. There are so many school girls horror films from japan than this one is far to be the best one but you can take some guilty pleasure in some scenes anyway, just don't expect too much.

Smile at the boobs, yawn at the gore.
ElijahCSkuggs3 July 2008
Lately I've been watching some movies with some great titles: The Boy Who Cried Bitch, Chafed Elbows and Human Snot Tissue. But they may have all been bested by the one I saw last night. The Girl Rebel Force of Competitive Swimmers. A mouthful, but also a great damn name for a movie. Too bad that the name and some nudity is the only thing going for it.

The story revolves around a virus of sorts that is turning all the non-swimmers at the school into zombies. Some talkative, some not. Actually, the teachers talk and the students don't, when they're zombified. Anywho, throw in a mysterious new girl and a back-story with her and some mad doctor and you have the flick.

The story doesn't sound that bad right? Well, the story isn't the bad part, it's pretty creative. But damn, like Chaos's review asks, how on Earth can they screw this type of movie up? I was expecting at least something on the level of Wild Zero/Meatball Machine type production values. But it's really just a completely amateurish flick. And surprisingly what hurt it most was the gore. It just sucked. Like the films I just mentioned, those flicks were weird/silly flicks but the gore looked good and you were amped to see more. But with this, I really didn't even want to watch any more scenes of gore. Because it looked that weak. I think they showed the same, awful-looking severed arm on three separate occasions. The writing and gore were just too damn amateurish to be given a pass.

Though, the flick wasn't all bad, it had some nice nudity by the lead actress. She was very, very good looking and looked fantastic in even a one piece swimsuit. And her boobs, which I'd assume are fake (rare for Japanese girls) were really great looking. And the lesbo scene between her another swimmer was definitely attention worthy. Ahhhhtennnnhut!!

Overall this flick was really a let-down. With a great title, some great shots of hot Asian chicks swimming it up, some lovely Japanese breasts and butt and a more than capable story, the film definitely had potential. But with such a strong amateurish feel, some bad writing (far too much melodrama) and completely unimpressive gore effects the movie relies solely on scenes of nudity. Which isn't good if you're watching a flick called The Girl REBEL FORCE of Competitive Swimmers. Look instead for Machine Girl or the highly anticipated Tokyo Gore Police for some whacked out Asian craziness.

If you like zombies and cute girls and nothing else this movie is for you
dbborroughs2 September 2008
Warning: Spoilers
Shot on video film about a girls swim team that is forced to battle flesh eating zombies when a new "popular" virus that is spread by people who don't wash their hands begins running rampant in the school.

This is nothing but zombies and cute Japanese girls in and out of swimsuits. There is a great deal of blood, violence and gratuitous nudity and very little in the way of plot. I dare you to try to come up with anything to say about it other than it is exactly what it is, there is no attempt to be deep and meaningful just chicks and chomps. I think I've found one of the few films that defies criticism except if you're offended by this sort of thing. I don't know if its good or if its bad, but it as niche as you can go.

Memorable for all the wrong reasons
thedevilyouknow002 October 2009
I'm kind of ashamed to be writing this because it means I took the time to watch it. And it gets worse when you realize I'm taking more time to comment on it. Oh well, can't say you weren't warned. If the other reviews didn't slap some sense into you and cause you watch something useful like CITIZEN KANE or porn, then I've no sympathy for you. Normally, I would express my admiration of the nudity, attractive girls, gore, overall trashiness, nudity, callous and gleeful disdain of reality and nudity that a movie with a title of ATTACK GIRLS' SWIM TEAM might engender. Except... this movie may possess such attributes, but it's not done very well. An equivalent effect might be that of watching your parents dry-humping while talking dirty to each other (or so I'd assume- I've no experience to draw from, readers feel free to correct me at your leisure). You can't really discuss plot or characterization, except to say that the aforementioned undead or zombies don't appear until far too late and when they do, there's only about four or five. And they're in an all too brief scene of bloodletting... okay I'm bored with the zombies... but there is nudity! And a faux lesbian scene with incestuous undertones which would be worth a quick fast-forward to... but really, once that's done, it's a pretty dreary affair. The idea of 'so bad it's good' is always a dicey proposition to a viewer, but it never reaches the outlandish depths non-quality needs to be entertaining. It's just bad. It can't even muster the necessary 'movie magic' required to make you believe the whole production wasn't shot at an abandoned building with a couple of non-professionals on their lunch hour. And for all the hype of the title, the 'Swim Team' doesn't form until way too late and it then doesn't even do that much. Blaming this as an amateur effort seems overly cruel and is inaccurate- amateurs are at least striving. This thing is lazy. Kids, don't waste your time. Find something else. You're reading this on the internet. Something better is a click away.

Amateurish exploitation film from Japan; almost worthless
Andy-29623 November 2013
This, direct to video, amateurish Japanese exploitation film is sloppy, ridiculous and almost worthless. There is some gore (for those who are into that) and some soft core nudity of its attractive actresses (including a very steamy scene in which one of them masturbates off-camera other girl, for which I'll give the film a couple of stars instead of zero ones), but the plot makes no sense and the acting in it is atrocious. Basically, as far as one can discern, some zombies attack a girl's high school, but somehow the girls in the swimming team are immune to the attacks (it must be something in the water of the swimming pool) so it is up to them to counterattack. Even those who like exploitation films, want to have some decent plot in it to make sense.

Is it Delicious? Is it?
oooMILESooo17 May 2009
Even though this film's production vales are low and you can see it's failures clear as day- It somehow engages you in a way that you want to see where this all goes.

This film is somewhat a softcore porno that is doubling as a Zombie Horror. It delivers on NEITHER of these areas, leaving you feel a bit glass half empty after watching, not knowing if you should go all out in one direction.

This movie is dull and slow, but it has heart as well a lot more body. If you have Nothing, and I mean NOTHING to do-This is Perfect viewing for you!!!

OK I guess
lazarillo10 March 2010
As the English title suggests this is a movie about a girls' swim team fighting undead zombies. The zombies are the result of a plague that has taken over a school, but one which the girls' swim team is somehow immune to as the result of spending a lot of time in a chlorinated pool. It also helps that the new girl and latest swim-team member is an orphan who has been trained as a spy and a martial arts expert (at least when her horny sensei/mad scientist wasn't busy playing the flute or having boob-bouncing sex with her).

I'm actually not a fan of modern-day sex films because they just have too much sex in them. I'm also not fan of modern-day zombie films because there are just too damn many of them. Both "genres" today are more often than not shot on digital video, which doesn't always look bad, but has one very major drawback--any idiot can do it (and it's usually idiots that DO do it). This SOV zombie-sex movie seemingly has three strikes against it from the get-go, but it's not THAT bad. First off, the sex and zombie elements may not entirely work together, but the gory zombie stuff does serve to make this less boring than your typical straight sex movie, and all the naked and nubile Japanese girls do serve to make this more enjoyable than your usual inept SOV zombie movie. I think low-budget American filmmakers (or, um, video-makers) are actually beginning to catch on to this Japanese extreme sex-and-violence hybrid formula with recent movies like "Bad Biology" and "Black Devil Doll".

This movie also has a few funny sequences like the zombified math teacher who babbles some word problem about apples and then cuts off the head of a student with a samurai sword when he doesn't like her answer. And the girls are all very cute and they spend most of the movie dressed in butt-hugging one-piece swimsuits (when they're not actually naked, that is). This okay I guess.

Pretty much what everyone else says
rpannier27 January 2009
Warning: Spoilers
If you love movies with bizarre scripts, zombies, some nudity, a weak lesbian love scene, a girls swim team and a guy who plays a flute while a girl fondles herself and then gets raped by him -- This is the movie for you.

The high school has been infected by a 'popular' virus as opposed to those unpopular viruses nobody likes. The antidote is brought by a medical team-- which is really the evil master looking for his trainee that has escaped his clutches. There is a serum for the students and there is a special vial for the teachers.

Everyone takes the serum, except the two main girls. Then everyone starts to become zombies, except the two girls and the swim team -- the disinfectant in the pool (chlorine???) has made them immune to the zombie-virus.

While hiding from the zombies, the two girls start talking about the swim competition that's tomorrow. I know when I'm being hunted by zombies, I often talk about sporting events that are coming up. Then they have lesbian-sex. I know that when I'm being hunted by zombies I have...wait...I'm a guy, never mind.

The scene in the classroom where the math teacher slices up his non-zombie students with meter sticks, while his zombie students feed upon the non-zombie students is just too weird. The zombie female teacher who speaks some English is also just too weird as she kills with a machete.

The main character is a water warrior master who has escaped her master so that she can live a life like all high school seniors her age. We learn she is a new student at the school about 10 minutes into the movie, which makes the ending even more confusing.

The scene with the rape-master and his flute is laughable. He plays his flute while his 'slave' fondles her genitals...she does moan and squeal well, but that's about it. Then he has sex with her.

If you think this review was disjointed, the movie is 100x more so. It's funny in places and just twisted and bizarre in others. There's enough to laugh at and enough to say "What?" and "Huh?" to make it better than 2 stars

is it good? no not really
movieman_kev5 February 2009
Warning: Spoilers
Aki arrives at a new school on the same day as a new zombie virus outbreak is starting due to a faulty vaccination. She must save the school. OK, not really that much of a story to this one, but you get a boatload of ultra-gore (even if it's very cheesy and fake looking), frequent nudity, lesbianism & a laser vagina, what more can you expect from a Japanese film with this title?? Not really a good film by even the most lenient of traditional standards, however I found myself having fun with it (to an extent). On the downside, even at less then an hour & a half, it does seem to go on a bit too long Eye Candy: Sasa Handa frequently shows T&A; 2 other shows tits My Grade: D+ DVD Extras:the Region 1 DVD has no extras

low for Japanese standards
trashgang13 September 2012
There are so many flicks coming from Japan lately and all do they have girls dressed as students, you know, short skirts and panties just to the knees. A lot of them do contain gore and do have nudity. But still that doesn't make a movie, you also need a good script.

The script here looked fine but it doesn't work flawless on screen. Some parts are a bit boring but the nudity makes it all up. It do contains a lot of red stuff and here and there we do have a bit of gory scene's but for Japanese standards it's low and most of the slashing or killings are done off-screen. The acting didn't provided any extra. You don't watch those movies for the acting. But being low on the gore site there are much better flicks out.

But if you are into those typical Japanese flicks with student look-a-likes then this is one to see. Of course it sometimes goes over the top with the sputtering of blood and some girls really get covered with the red stuff. The end is also over the top with a girl having extra powers coming out of her, well, you can guess it.

It's not all that bad but as I said, there's better to catch.

Entertaining and funny
ebiros231 May 2011
This is a low budget movie done well. A vaccination turns all girls school students and teachers into zombies, but only the swim team is unaffected. The reason turns out to be surprisingly simple.

Aki (Sasa Handa) is a transfer student into an all girls high school. She meets Sayaka who recruits her into the swimming team. Sayaka has rather persuasive method, so she joins the swim team. She soon finds out that the everyone is turning into zombies but for some reason only the swim team is unaffected. They form rebel force of their own to combat the zombies.

There are gratuitous lesbian scenes and nude scenes all over this movie. It's hard to judge if this movie was made to show the naked bodies or tell the story. Maybe it's useless to try and figure out which is which, but one thing this movie doesn't fail is to entertain. The girls are beautiful, and the comedy is superb. There are bit of a gore also, but you can easily tell that it's fake.

IMO this is the best movie Sasa Handa has starred in. It's a unique mixture of sex, gore, and high school girls in a story unlike any other I've seen.

This is an uniquely entertaining movie coming from Japan, and is highly recommended.

Attack Girls' Team vs. the Undead
Scarecrow-8818 November 2010
Warning: Spoilers
Aki is a new student at the school where this movie takes place. She meets another student who has similar body marks as she does(a bruise above the breast, a mole behind the ear)and the two become fast friends. There's supposedly a virus outbreak and the students(and faculty)are being injected with what they were told to be a vaccination, which turns out to be anything but. Essentially, ATTACK GIRLS' TEAM VS. THE UNDEAD is a "rabid virus let loose inside a school" flick where those infected go berserk attacking the ones who haven't been subjected to the effects this plague entails. The usual hacked off limbs, blood spray, and butchery occur as the viral humans go on a killing spree. Toes are cut away with scissors, rulers(a math teacher goes to town on his class)chop off body parts, a skull is stabbed into with the brain removed, a chainsaw burrowing through a student, etc.

For some reason the swim team isn't infected and it might have something to do with the pool. We learn that not only does Aki have an aversion towards water(and the reasons why are elaborated on), she was trained as an assassin by a mad scientist known for his skills at creating viruses and human modification experiments..the movie that keeps on giving!

While as a horror movie(or zombie action comedy, if you prefer)I wasn't exactly blown away, as a piece of erotica, it worked exceptionally well because ATTACK GIRLS' TEAM VS. THE UNDEAD's lead, Sasa Handa, is a Japanese bombshell. There's a shower scene that had my heart beating a mile a minute, and this incredible masturbation sequence where she can not contain her orgasmic reaction towards flute music is just dandy. But it's Handa's lesbian scene with Yuria Hidaka, and the little moments which lead up to it, that really sent yours truly into harmonious bliss. There's also included a passionate sex scene where Aki calls for the mad scientist to pop her cherry after the flute music has her wrapped in a frenzy. Either naked or in a "speeda" swim suit, Handa is a masturbatory maiden worthy of my drooling gaze. This movie is certainly what I'd call "titillation material". The violence(the gore)is rather disappointing, cheap, with the director forced into pulling away when a blade is slicing flesh or a cinder block bashes which bashes a face in. Director Kôji Kawano tries to make up for the film's shortcomings with camera angles shooting up school girls' dresses, peeping upward at white panties.
