- Jolene Spivey escorts her two daughters to a room and tells them to keep quiet, and that she'll be right back. She hears someone moving and goes to confront them, and finds her husband Keith Spivey going through a desk drawer. Jolene asks what he's looking for, and where he's been. Spivey stops what he's doing, turns to his wife, and says that he's been "away". When Jolene says that the police were there looking for him, thinking he helped the two patients escape, Spivey goes back to looking through the drawer.
When Jolene asks if it's true, begging him to tell her what's going on, he finds a badge in the drawer and pins it to his shirt. He walks to Jolene, grabs her, and kisses her. Jolene moans in pain and shock as he bites her lower lip, Spivey then walks out of the house, gets into the car, and drives off with Father Crow as his children watch from a window.
At St. Theresa, Ana sits with Chris in his cell and they eat some of his food that she's brought in. She says that she told their boss Derrick that Chris is occupied for 24 hours, so they wouldn't have anyone looking for Chris. She asks what the Keeper said to him, and Chris tells her that he can't remember, and that it felt like it wanted him to kill Victoria. Chris points out that she's always hated Victoria, and she "ugly cried" about the foster homes Ana went through.
Chris assures Ana that it's okay to miss Victoria, and Ana says that she doesn't want to be lectured about her mother. Ana agrees to see Victoria if it will shut Chris up on the topic, and notices Chris unconsciously scratching at the bandage covering the fang bite marks where the skull bit him. She goes and Chris tries to leave with her, and Ana tells him that he's staying there. Chris insists that he's fine, and Ana shoves him to the floor when he tries to leave, and walks out closing the cell door behind her. As Ana goes, she tells the guard Ellis to let her and Hastings know if Chris continues to make a fuss.
At the Blood hotel, Daimon covers over the bodies, goes to the office where Gabriella is packing up files, and says that Caretaker still isn't picking up his phone. Gabriella figures Hastings never told Daimon about the hotel because he'd want to shut it down, and Daimon tells her that she did the right thing bringing him there. The novitiate says that she should have told him sooner, and they should give the dead Blood operatives a proper burial. She asks if Daimon thinks that Father did it, and Daimon figures that whoever did the killing wasn't as "chaotic" as a demon would have been. He doesn't want to know what the killer would want with the missing patients, and says that they should go.
As Daimon and Gabriella go, they find someone, a patient, waiting for them down the hallway. They approach the emaciated patient, who approaches them and then drops to her knees. Daimon realizes that the woman, Yessenia Flores, is dying and prepares to exorcise the demon from her. Gabriella asks to perform last rites first, and when she does so, Yessenia glows with demonic energy and collapses. Yessenia mutters her name and dies, clear of the demonic influence. Damian says an "amen" over her body.
As Ana buys food in the cafeteria, Hastings looks on and asks why Ana hasn't visited Victoria. Ana claims that she thought Daimon would be with him, and Hastings explains that Daimon is checking out the hotel and what happened there. The younger woman figures that Daimon believes Father was responsible, and tries to call Caretaker to get his input about the Blood. Hastings notes that Caretaker's voicemail is full and he isn't responding, and asks Ana to stay with Victoria while they wait for Daimon to get back. Hastings insists that Victoria is fighting to be with Ana, but Ana doesn't believe it.
As Ana walks off, Hastings tells her that it's easy to confront a monster than a human being. She advises Ana to stop taking whatever time she can have with Victoria for granted. Ana abruptly agrees, and says that she won't mention the missing patients or the dead Blood operatives.
Ana goes to Victoria's cell, and finds her contemplating the skull. Victoria says that the Keeper is keeping Kthara at bay, and Victoria needs to keep it close. They talk briefly about Chris, and Ana insists that he's fine. Victoria wonders where Ana is living, and Ana says San Francisco. Ana has time for no small talk, and finally asks Victoria if she knew her husband was a serial killer. Victoria denies it, but Ana asks if Victoria was willfully ignorant or just stupid.
Victoria admits that she doesn't know which she was, or if she was both. She says that she was overwhelmed by Father's presence, and was blind to who he really was. Victoria says that whenever she saw a flicker of darkness, her husband transformed into the person she married. Then he got overconfident and started giving her "gifts" from the women he killed. Eventually Victoria accepted the truth, Ana asks why her mother didn't stop him, or take the children and run. Victoria says that he didn't make mistakes, and Father only let Victoria see what she wanted to. He wanted Victoria to experience every moment of his cruelty. Ana switches the conversation to the cell's décor, and says that they should change things up a bit.
As Daimon and Gabriela drive back, Gabriela speeds up and says that they need to get Daimon to St. Theresa's in case Father shows up. Daimon suggests that they try and find Yessenia's family, but Gabriella figures they can't tell them the truth. He doesn't know where to start with asking Victoria what she went through possessed by Kthara for decades, and Gabriella tells him he can start wherever he wants
Gabriella tells Daimon that she's read all of his files, and tries to tell him there was nothing he could do as a 12-year-old. Daimon doesn't believe he could only have had Victoria committed, and Gabriella advises him to have some patience with himself.
The car hits something and a tire blows out. She admits that the tire that blew out was her spare, and they continue on to the next gas station. A mechanic comes out and offers to get them a replacement tire in 20 minutes. Daimon agrees and steps aside to call Hastings. She says that Caretaker hasn't called back yet, and is worried whoever killed the Blood operatives got to Caretaker as well. Daimon explains about their flat and says that they'll be at St. Theresa's as soon as they can, and Hastings says that Ana is with Victoria. Once Hastings hangs up, Daimon goes inside the station with Gabriella.
Spivey uses his badge to get into St. Theresa's. When Ellis spots and recognizes him, he tries to call an alarm but Spivey viciously beats him unconscious. Spivey then goes to Victoria's cell but finds it empty.
Ana takes Victoria out to the courtyard in the latter's wheelchair. Victoria talks about Ana's childhood, and Ana finally says that she hated Father's "gifts". Once, Victoria slapped them out of Ana's hands, but she couldn't tell Ana why. Ana wonders why Father gave her to them, and Victoria says that he thought his children were like him. She says that when Father forgot that Ana is as much Victoria's as Father's.
Thinking back, Ana talks about how they went to the zoo together Ana suggests that they go back in, and Victoria says that she wishes Daimon had found a life like Ana did, and should have left St. Theresa's a long time ago.
At the station, Daimon and Gabriella notices that there's no cashier there. Daimon figures something is going on, and they go outside. He tells Gabriella to get into the car and lock the door, and she does so as Daimon goes into the garage, and calls out that they're going to get a tow. He finds the mechanic lying under a car, a tool driven into his ear. One of the missing coma patients, Naren, is there and greets Daimon. and says that he didn't mean to hurt the mechanic but restraint was never his strong suit. Naren says that Father had hoped they could keep Daimon "engaged".
Gabriella finally goes in to investigate, and a demon-possessed patient grabs her from behind, covering her mouth.
Naren says that he's not impressed with Daimon, despite Daimon's bloodline. Daimon telekinetically slams him into a nearby car.
Another missing patient, Jeff, drags Gabriella away.
Naren recovers and Daimon telekinetically drops a rack of tires on him.
Gabriella bites Jeff's hand, breaking his grip, and he takes out a knife and kneels down to cut her. Before he can, his shirt ignites and Jeff burns completely as Damion comes out and concentrates on him. Daimon drops to his knees from the effort, and Gabriella comes to him and assures him that he didn't have any choice but to kill the possessed man.
Ana takes Victoria back to her cell, and Ana remembers Father abducting her. She tells Victoria about Father's activities, and admits that he might be coming there. Victoria wonders how they kill him, and Ana says that she doesn't know. She tells Victoria to not lose sight of the Keeper no matter what.
Hastings goes to her office and finds Ellis propped in her visitor's chair, beaten to death. She goes to her safe and gets a baton, then goes to a guard and tells him to lock up the ward.
As the guards lock down the ward, Ana notices. Hastings finds Ana and Victoria, and Hastings tell them that someone is there. Ana release Victoria's straps, saying that if anything happens to her then her mother deserves a fighting chance. She asks where Daimon is, and a guard arrives to tell Hastings that someone has locked them in just as the power goes out.
Spivey, Crow, and another possessed person take Dr. Lawrence prisoner. He begs them not to kill him, and Spivey puts a mark of possession on Lawrence. A demon then possesses Lawrence.
The patients pound on their cell doors.
As Daimon and Gabriella drive to St. Theresa's in a "borrowed" truck from the station, Daimon calls Ana and says that Father set the whole thing up. He figures that Spivey and the other demons are on the way to St. Theresa's. Ana tells her brother that they're already there.
Hastings leads Ana and Victoria to her office. Lawrence is there and says that he's been waiting for them. He telekinetically grabs the skull and runs out, and Ana goes after him telling Hastings that the Keeper is the only way to stop Father. Hastings warns Ana that Father will kill her, just as the other demons open all the cell doors by remote.
Chris leaves his cell, goes to the lower level, and grabs a fire axe.
Daimon and Gabriella pull up to the asylum, and Gabriella insists on going in with Daimon. Daimon telekinetically breaks the chains that the demons used to lock the front door, and the pair go in.
Ana and Hastings find the patients in the mess room, and using a combination of brute force, persuasion, and sedatives, get the non-violent patients to calm down and go back to their cells. When Ana tells Hastings to go to Victoria because she'll slow Ana down, Hastings refuses until Daimon arrives. The doctor then apologizes for not taking Ana in when she was a child, because she didn't think she was strong enough. Hastings says that she was wrong, and Ana just tells her to try not to get killed before continuing on.
Going down to the lower level, Ana continues exploring. One of the demon-possessed women attacks her, and Ana telekinetically throws her back. She recovers and attacks Ana, while Crow arrives and says that Father said they could have her. Hastings arrives and attacks the woman, while Ana fights Crow. Ana grabs both of them by the throat, and after a moment they collapse. Ana helps Hastings up and says that her two attackers are just asleep.
Ana crouches in the surveillance room, and one of the demons stares up at her on a surveillance camera. Once he walks away, Victoria goes to the door. The patient bursts in, but then Daimon telekinetically throws him down the hallway and comes in with Gabrielle. Mother and son hug, and he introduces Gabriella and asks where the Keeper is.
Lawrence sits in a room and contemplates the skull, and says that once Father arrives he'll smash it apart. Chris comes in and kills Lawrence. Chris then sits with the skull and holds it in his hands. Ana and Hastings arrive, and Chris tells Ana that he had to get the Keeper for her. He tells Ana that she can use it to stop Father. He refuses to hand it over, and Ana tells him that he was right earlier and she did miss Victoria. Convinced, Chris gives her the skull and Ana thanks him. She then leaves, telling Hastings and Chris to follow her.
The two groups meet up, and Daimon says that they need to get Victoria out of there. Ana figures they can lock up Father, then lock Victoria up until they figure out a way to get Kthara out of her. Victoria speaks up, saying that her only job was to keep her children safe and she failed. She wishes Father had taken her instead of Ana, and wishes she could absorb all of Ana's pain. Victoria says that she's proud of Daimon, and says that they have to end it there as a family.
A nearby elevator door opens, but nobody is inside. Spivey comes in on the opposite side, knocks the others aside, grabs Victoria by the throat, and goes into the elevator with her. The doors close before Daimon can get to them. Ana grabs the skull and say that they can take the stairs, and Daimon goes with her as the others recover.
Daimon and Ana go to the loading dock where Spivey took Victoria. Ana realizes that the Keeper is eating away at Spivey's body, and she taunts Spivey to draw her attention while Daimon flanks the demon. Spivey attacks Ana, knocking her into a windshield. She drops the skull and it rolls beneath a car.
Getting to Victoria, Daimon tells Spivey that he'll never hurt Victoria again and telekinetically attacks him. Spivey smashes the first attack with his bare hands and dodges the second, and Damian physically attacks him. As they fight, a dazed Ana wakes up and Victoria searches for the skull. Daimon tells Spivey that he can never break their family, and the Father demon rips itself out of Spivey's chest.
Victoria manages to grab the skull, and it weakens Father enough that Ana grabs it and jams it into the demon's mouth. Spivey screams in pain and collapses, while Ana helps Daimon away. They watch as Spivey's body ignites and burns, then dissolves into ash. What's left of Spivey tries to crawl away, and Ana tells Father that it must have been confusing for him how she would never fall in line. Ana says that she is nothing like him and never will be.
Damion and Ana realize that Victoria has disappeared. Spivey grabs Victoria's ankle and laughs. and then Victoria telekinetically pulls him across the floor to where she's standing inside a nearby truck. Kthara speaks to them, saying that she's hopes they said their goodbyes to Victoria. The cargo door of the truck closes, and Crow drives it away.
When Damion says that they'll find Father and get Victoria back, Ana tells him that the entity inside of Victoria wasn't Father.
