Among the video game and media industries, Parsec became a known word during the height of the coronavirus pandemic when remote access to games became crucial. Games were still being rapidly made and played, and many needed to be demo-ed or previewed without people physically being in an office to connect to a workstation.
Parsec existed before Covid-19 took hold, having been co-founded by CEO Benjy Boxer and Cto Chris Dickson in 2016. “Our goal was to essentially free people up from being locked in front of their gaming PC [and] their expensive hardware, so they could have the ...

Vivica A. Fox fans can get their fix during this holiday season with Ion Television’s newly announced movie marathon “A Very Vivica Christmas.” On Tuesday, the broadcaster said it will feature an all-day slate of the actress’ recent Ion holiday flicks on December 6, leading to the premiere of her latest holiday feature Christmas Together.
The lineup includes A Wedding for Christmas, A Husband for Christmas, A Christmas Cruise and Christmas Matchmakers. Fox not only appears in the holiday titles but also produced them alongside Hybrid.
The marathon will be capped by the premiere of Christmas Together, also starring and produced by Fox. Directed by David DeCoteau and written by Jay Cipriani, it follows a brokenhearted New York painter (Anna Marie Dobbins) and a West Coast widower ( Marc Herrmann) as they find their way together for the holiday season, thanks to the latter’s young daughter (Rylie Coe) and her innocent scheme.

Captain Kronos – like the film – chronicles the adventures of the mysterious and powerful Kronos who has dedicated his life to destroying the evil vampire plague. Once a victim himself, the debonair Hunter knows the vampire’s strengths and weaknesses as well as the dangers of confronting the potent forces of darkness.
Based on the 1974 film, Captain Kronos: Vampire Hunter is the second Hammer title from Titan Comics following the success of the awesome The Mummy: Palimpsest (from Peter Milligan and Ronilson Freire). However unlike other Hammer franchises, Captain Kronos was very much about the heroics of its titular character – and this new book very much follows suit, making it different in many ways from what audiences might expect from a Hammer comic.
The art in this book reminded me very much of the classic, and controversial, British...

I must admit, I was unsure just how the Legends Of Tomorrow would work on The CW. In the comics, Rip Hunter is not a huge figure, and most of the cast of characters for the show are not either. I did not feel the show would be cohesive.
I was completely wrong. The cast has a wonderful bond, and even Mick Rory, aka Heatwave (played by Dominic Purcell), has become a redeemable character from his old ways. Yes, he holds demons in his past, as do most of the characters on the show, but at this point wouldn't you say he is at least an anti-hero?
Well today, thanks to executive producer Marc Guggenheim, it seems that the first episode of Season 3 will be based on his last wish, which is to head off to Aruba and "chill out," and the title will be "Aruba-Con." Take a look at...

I believe the first comics convention I attended was in 1967. That means I’ve been chasing these puppies for 50 years. Indeed, it often feels my entire life has been one long, never-ending comicon. Talk about getting a life – or, at least, another act.
I continue to do ‘em because I enjoy seeing my friends a hell of a lot more than I enjoy eating vulcanized chicken fingers. Better still, I enjoy meeting the fans, talking about what they like and don’t like (this is not a good time to defend the event comic), discovering new trends and talent, and blathering on and on at panels. For the past, oh, maybe two dozen years that means I’ve vastly preferred the smaller comicons; it’s hard to have meaningful conversations at the overcrowded, underoxygenated megashows such as San Diego and New York. To tell you the truth, I avoid those...

We've already seen the regular comic covers for DC Comics' upcoming Looney Tunes and DC superhero crossover event. In the series, several classic Looney Tunes characters will cross paths with DC superheroes that include Batman, Wonder Woman, Martian Manhunter, Lobo, Jonah Hex, and the Legion of Super-Heroes.
This looks like it will be a fun comic series. They all look like they will be so much fun to read. Each of the characters that cross paths in the series are perfect for each other. I included information on each of the comics below.

A couple of weeks ago some artwork surfaced teasing a DC Comics special event crossover series involving the Looney Tunes. Today we have some actual story details about the comics that will be coming out, and they sound pretty damn entertaining. The one that I'm most looking forward to reading involves Elmer Fudd stalking Batman.
The Looney Tunes characters will cross paths with DC characters that will include Batman, Wonder Woman, Martian Manhunter, Lobo, Jonah Hex, and the Legion of Super-Heroes.

It had been a long time since I was in the same room with director Michael Cimino. My first job out of Nyu Cinema Studies was in the publicity department at United Artists in New York, where I witnessed the long delays on Cimino’s follow-up to his Oscar-winning 1978 anti-war diatribe “The Deer Hunter,” the period western “Heaven’s Gate.”
The director got caught up in chasing authenticity in the myriad details of the production, training for weeks the cast led by Kris Kristofferson and Isabelle Huppert to roller-skate for one scene — and demanding endless retakes until he shot more feet of film, over 1 million, than even Francis Coppola did on another memorably out-of-control UA movie, “Apocalypse Now.” The original $11 million budget bloated to $32 million (Cimino’s figure), as recounted in Steven Bach’s “Final Cut: Art, Money and Ego in the Making of ‘Heaven’s Gate.’

There’s a lot of time travel going on in pop culture these days. The CW has DC’s Legends of Tomorrow where a rag-tag group of misfits travel around with Doctor Who, excuse me, Rip Hunter Time Master, as he tries to stop the immortal villain, Vandal Savage, from killing his family. Oh, and to prevent Savage from really messing up the world… but mostly to save his own family.
In general, I like time travel stories and have ever since I saw The Time Machine (the 1960 one with Rod Taylor, not the 2002 version with Guy Pearce). A great variation on the H.G. Wells story was Time After Time, where H.G. Wells (played by Malcolm McDowell) comes to (then) modern day San Francisco chasing Jack the Ripper (David Warner) and encounters the ever adorable Mary Steenburgen.

The events of last night’s episode of Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. certainly seemed to be setting up the Marvel’s Most Wanted spinoff show, as Agents Bobbi Morse (Adrianne Palicki) and Lance Hunter (Nick Blood) were forced to split away from their friends and teammates in an emotional farewell scene.
Now, Spoiler TV seems to have come across the first official logo for the show as well as news on a couple of new casting additions.
According to the report, both Oded Fehr (The Mummy) and Fernanda Andrade (The Devil Inside) have signed on to star in mysterious roles. No other details are provided, but there’s a pretty good chance at least one of them will be playing a villain, since we already have Morse, Hunter and Delroy Lindo’s Dominic Fortune on the side of the angels.

Jughead #2 is yet another silly, sarcastic entry in writer Chip Zdarsky and artist Erica Henderson’s surreal, slice of life series starring the Riverdale’s most non-conforming conforming teenager. This issue shows Jughead’s basically superpower of being able to skirt by the rules without breaking from getting free milkshakes from Pop’s to even avoiding detention for the most part under the draconian rule of Principal Stanger. He even has a purely metaphorical cheat code that hacks P.E. class, but Zdarsky and Henderson bring an end to his good luck with a dark and compelling cliffhanger.
One of the highlights of Jughead has been Erica Henderson’s cartoonish, yet with normal body proportions take on the Archie characters as she puts her own imprint on classic characters, like Betty, Archie, Kevin Keller...

Or do a few masterpieces lift up a year so far that whatever else happened beyond those three or four films is of no consequence? Both measures are worthy, and the winner by either of those would certainly be a year not to be sneezed at. But I contend the only true measure of a year’s...

Hollywood can destroy people. For every survivor of the Hollywood system, whether from years ago or any current actors, there are dozens of actors and other artists who crashed and burned, had serious substance abuse issues, committed suicide or never made it at all.
Just from memory I can name Barbara Payton, Jayne Mansfield, Jeanne Eagles, Marilyn Monroe, James Dean, Diana Sands and Montgomery Clift. For a complete rundown you can’t do much better than Kenneth Anger’s incredible book Hollywood Babylon and it’s even more depressing sequel Hollywood Babylon Part Two. Vincent Price called Hollywood “the most evil place on Earth!” And Vincent Price would know something about evil!

Ever since the cancellation of Justice League International in 2012, Booster Gold has remained an enigmatic figure. The annual which concluded Jli had Booster Gold encounter a future version of himself sporting and A.R.G.U.S. logo before both of them were vanished at the hand of some unseen force. Booster has been completely Mia with the exception of a guest appearance on All-Star Western. After being gone for nearly two years, Booster Gold returns under the pen of his creator, Dan Jurgens.
Unfortunately new readers will likely be turned away confused with more questions than answers unless they have a working knowledge of Booster Gold.

It may seem, given my past reviews of found footage movies, that all I do is spew bile and vitriol when it comes to a lot of these particular movies but that doesn’t mean I’m not willing to still give the genre a a fair shake. Good job too, otherwise I would have missed out on a great example of it in The Den.
The idea of using the internet (and webcams) is nothing new in horror, it’s cropped up in dozens of movies, some good, a lot bad. With the advent of webcams, CCTV and “always-connected” devices, any good horror movie villain would – given that using the net is his or her modus operandi – have almost total control over their victims lives.

With filming for Zack Snyder's follow-up to Man of Steel set to being very soon, casting for the movie has obviously been stepped up. Just now, Warner Bros. issued a press release announcing that three new actors have been cast in the movie for various roles. Come inside to check out all the details!
If you're hoping for information on who they'll be playing...you may be a little disappointed. All the press release really says is that they were cast for characters created specifically for the film. Meaning they don't already have a comic book counterpart. Either way, it's really nice to hear some sort of official information on this film, considering how quiet things have been lately on the upcoming DC Superhero flick:

HollywoodLife.com got an early look at the ‘Vampire Diaries’ season five premiere, and we’ve got five spoilers to tide you over until it airs.
Are you ready for “The Vampire Diaries: The College Years”? An all-new season of The CW’s hottest addiction begins Oct. 3, thrusting our characters into new and uncharted territory. By doing away with the Mikaelson family — don’t worry, there’ll always be The Originals – and by giving the cast a change of scene, I think Ep Julie Plec injected the show with a much-needed kick; and in typical Vampire Diaries fashion, the premiere keeps on kicking from beginning to end.
5 Spoilers From ‘The Vampire Diaries’ Season 5 Premiere
1. Damon & Elena: So Happy Together
I’ll get “Delena” out of the way first by confirming that everything you’ve heard about Damon (Ian Somerhalder) and Elena (Nina Dobrev) is true. They had a wonderful summer together,...

We’re back with another edition of the Indie Spotlight, highlighting recent independent horror news sent our way. Today’s feature includes DVD release details for Shiver, information on the Mile High Horror Film Festival, an exclusive excerpt from Dead is Only Skin Deep, a Q&A with 13-year-old Emily Diprimio for Carver, and more:
Q&A Interview with Up-and-Coming 13-Year-Old Filmmaker Emily Diprimio
by Heather Wixson
It’s not often that you run across aspiring genre directors who are still in their teens so when we discovered a brand new Kickstarter campaign for Carver, an upcoming indie slasher from the filmmaking team of Ron Diprimio and his 13-year-old daughter Emily Diprimio, we immediately took notice.
In the campaign, the Diprimios’ describe Carver as, “a throwback 80’s style slasher that follows a group of teenagers who are haunted by a despicable act they committed on Halloween when they were younger.

Here's the latest Austin and Texas film news.
The Austin Film Society announced the three jurors who will determine the recipients of this year's $116,000 Afs Grant, formerly the Texas Filmmakers' Production Fund. Jacqueline Lyanga, director of the L.A.-based American Film Institute Fest; filmmaker Ry Russo-Young, whose latest feature Nobody Walks won a special grand jury prize at last year's Sundance Film Festival; and 2010 Guggenheim Fellow Matt Wolf, who was named one of the 25 New Faces of Independent Film by Filmmaker Magazine, will be in charge of selecting the recipients of the funds, which can be used toward production, post-production and distribution of independent films. Renaissance man Ron Deutsch announced that he will teach his 20th Chef du Cinema class on Saturday, Sept. 14 at Central Market North. Students will learn to prepare a three-course menu inspired by the Oscar-nominated film, O, Brother, Where Art Thou? The adventure-comedy will be...

Houston, Texas is best known for oil and cowboys. Like most things, there is way more than meets the stereotype. My favorite Houston secret is Worldfest, a nine day international independent film festival held every April.
What is so great about it? It’s a point of pride for Houstonians because it is the oldest in the world. It was founded in August 1961 as Cinema Arts, and International Film Society. It became the international film festival it is today in April 1968. In all of this time it has been under the care of founder Hunter Todd. His goal was to create a quality film festival for independent filmmakers.
Meh, who cares how old it is. If it’s last power doesn’t impress you, here’s a short list of some of the filmmakers discovered at Worldfest:
Steven Spielberg George Lucas Ridley Scott The Coen Brothers Oliver Stone David Lynch
