A great melancholy and sentimental short film, as the movie title implies.

It's like looking through a keyhole and seeing parts of the life of the main character Albert. Man embarks on a emotional journey full of ups and downs whose end is unknown. 'Melancholie' shows how life looks when you have chosen a certain path. However, the question is raised whether it would have been better chosen a different way.

The location for this story offers the city of Gelsenkirchen, in the heart of the Ruhr area. The structural change in this area has left its scars, just like in Alberts heart. This change also leaves losers, possibly Albert is one of them. The photos remind him of his past, also ensure the forgotten one is again aware, even if it's only good memories. And good memories can in wrong moments or situations in life, hurt you anyway.

The story leaves a thoughtful back, perhaps even emotionally taken in one or the other. The film is not a call to change something, but you will think about, if you have ever decide for the right in your own life.
