Good idea, lots of plot holes
MagicMurderFan9 June 2020
Warning: Spoilers
1. Could they not leave in the car? I felt like the boundary was implied, but maybe I missed it? 2. Who did they rent from? Do they not check the house? 3. Do they not have family? Other friends that would look for them? 4. Who's paying for the water and electric? 5. If you don't want the creepy ginger hipster looking at you, don't walk around in a towel with the bathroom door open. 6. Refer to 5, why did no one kill him first? He was annoying. 7. If "Annie" is dead, at least have the actress hold her breath for the close up. I know it's low budget, but try not to take heaving breaths, while playing dead. 8. Why is everyone scared of the man-bun ginger? Refer to 5. He was inquiring if food was organic and locally sourced, chances are you can kick his a$& girls. Cheap shot to the back of the head with an axe, does not a man make. 9. Does the cabin reset, when one person is left? 10. Where did the bodies go?

More Than Bad
RedQueenIMDB23 March 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Poor, poor, poor quality all around. Another amateur low budget that has an interesting idea and no clue what to do with it, but they make a 'movie' anyway, complete with annoying camera filters and horrible soundtrack.

Five boring characters never do anything after they find themselves trapped by a portal outside that keeps zapping them back inside the house. Interesting premise, taken nowhere. Nothing else interesting happens. They don't even try to find out what's causing the phenomenon, or any historical clues about it, or even how to escape. Doesn't even have an ending at all. Not kidding.

Walk away...from this movie
johnbamber-543-39050521 October 2022
This movie is, in a word: cheesy. The plot is interesting, I'll give it that, but it's predictable, and the cinematography is beyond amateur. There were blatantly obvious drone shots, or shots done with a really bad gimbal and no image stabilization. Some of the establishing shots are way too long, there are bizarre transitions, and apart from all of the technical issues, the dialogue and acting is so bland. Some scenes are overacted, some are grossly underacted, but there is a distinct lack of chemistry between all of the actors. I will admit, this definitely was one of those movies where it was "so bad but I kept watching to see what happened next." There were pointless closeups of insects, and the music score was disturbing and distracting.

Absolutely horrible!
zamboni-3663330 November 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I don't know where to start. The plot is a simple one. Five people go to a cabin and find they can't leave. They just physically can't leave. Too bad they couldn't find a decent story to go along with the idea. Days go by. Months go by. I would be constantly freaking out after the first hour. And no one is looking for these people? Are they in a different dimension? Bad things happen. But, you don't care. The blood looks like strawberry jam. I kid you not. When Alice dies, she keeps breathing. I seriously thought she had gone into a coma because I could see her breathing. The ending was absurd. That's it? Just "walk away." Don't see this turkey. It's not even worth watching to laugh at it.

You can do better
mikebre-2240922 June 2020
Walk Away is not just the title but it also foreshadows what I should have done prior to starting this. I get what the movie was trying to accomplish but just failed to hit its mark. The acting is bad, effects look terrible (especially the blood), music is hard to listen to and decisions made are just absurd. If I ever get caught in some kind of parallel universe unable to leave I hope I have more of a reaction than any of these guys. This is a hard pass

Seemingly Pointless....
wandernn1-81-68327422 June 2020
-1 Star as We Begin with 1 guy with a manbun. Sorry but we don't do 'manbuns'.

-1 Star For The Towel Wearing Scene from the shower... like what woman does that, only brings a towel to the shower to change into when she's done in a house full of strangers ...okay yeah dumb!!!

Of Course it was MANBUN who short circuited!!!!!! Total Proof that we just should never do MANBUNS!!!

Then of course the GINGER snaps.....

-1 For a Useless Pointless Ending and an end to a Useless Pointless Movie....

Hard to find much redeeming quality about it at all.

My 1st 100% negative review/ITS THAT BAD
xxhorrorcreepxx29 June 2020
I've watched a million+ horror & thriller movies, none as bad as this. You get everything you need to know about the movie based on the trailer. It COULD'VE been decent (good even), however the way this movie unfolded was a regretful waste of film & time. I finished it hoping for a redeeming ending...but instead, as the credits rolled, I felt nothing but regret for wasting my time. I give 2 thumbs down & a rating of zero. This was a bomb for sure.

Almost a total waste of time (spoiler alert!)
romneymeredith16 June 2020
Warning: Spoilers
First off, the ending is a total letdown. I thought they'd give us some understanding of why they couldn't get out but oh no, after there's only one person left alive suddenly her cell phone rings and she somehow determines this means she can escape so she walks out successfully and runs on down the road out of sight. The End. WTH??? No explanation whatsoever. Zilch. Nada. I still have no clue why the fridge would refill with the food that was removed from it.

Second, and this is a doozy, somehow the utilities remain on for months and months without ANYONE checking in on them. Someone rented the cabin to them so why didn't they check on them when the rental period was up? And you know that the loved ones and friends of these people who knew where they were going would have already the police, but literally no one comes by.

The stupidity of the final survivor was impressive - she'd gotten into a fight with a woman who is apparently going crazy and has killed a guy, so she rigs a board with sharp objects and places it where people are materialized to when they attempt to leave the area, then goes out of the cabin and is chased by the nutball. After they resolve their differences the survivor somehow doesn't warn the nutball of the danger if she strays out of the area, so the next morning that's exactly what happens before she can stop her.

I will say this - I watched the whole thing because the premise was interesting and I wanted the mystery to be solved but the execution left a lot to be desired, there were too many plot holes and the bungled ending has me wishing I had never seen this movie.

Better than expected
Phoeniloculus1 June 2020
I was browsing through Amazon video when I stumbled across Walk Away. I didn't have high expectations, in fact they were rather low. I was surprised of how well the film turned out. The acting wasn't the best nor was it terrible. The performances overall were mediocre, but had good moments. Especially during the climax. Dialogue didn't feel forced, a couple of moments felt odd, but were executed well. The cinematography and editing were good, but was slightly annoyed by the lens glare effects; although I'm not sure if it was unintentional or not. The blood effects at some moments looked a little unnatural and a bit pink, but the rest of it was pretty fine.

The writing is what surprised me the most. I was expecting it to be some cookie cutter, by the book horror. It wasn't. At first glance it may seem cliche, but it's a unique story line. I'm glad it was very psychological. Psychological horror can be hard to pull off, yet Walk Away did it well. It's much better than the lazy slasher rip-off garbage that screams, "I killed the kids next door after set the neighborhood drug addict on fire". In other words, it wasn't predictable and I'm happy to see that.

The soundtrack was definitely good and really well composed for the film. The audio editing was very good as well.

It may not be the best, but I recommend watching Walk Away if you're able to. I'd actually watch it again.

Warning: Spoilers
Well, I thought I would give this a go. I regret it now. Very average acting, paper thin plot and alot of things that just had me NOT believing this movie. They didn't seem to be that concerned that they were suck in the cabin at all. The larger guy was even happy to be there until he got dead. If you land in the same spot over and over and over again, wouldn't you put a mattress or something there for a softer landing, or is that just a insane person thinking? Camera glare was very annoying and I'm not sure what the purpose of it was. Terrible ending! What was it ? Why were they trapped? Was it aliens? A Russian teleportation zone??? Who knows!!! Very average movie, but still not as bad as "terror at bigfoot pond" Which should be a minus 16!!

Better than expected
valenta_ivan22 June 2020
Warning: Spoilers
*******Warning!! Massive spoilers!!******************************

Found this while browsing through Amazon and thought the premise seemed like a good one. I really enjoyed it, I'm not sure why it's getting so much hate. No, this is not your typical horror/slasher movie with a crazed maniac terrorizing a group of friends. Instead, this is a slow-burn psychological horror that gets inside your head.

The cast is basically a bunch of beginners that don't have much experience, but the most of the conversations seem somewhat natural and how a group of friends would talk to each other. We see each one's descent into a sort of madness that is different for all of them. The kills aren't explicit or gory and bloody, which I think is a turn off for a lot of horror fans who enjoy those types of kills. However, the way they were done was effective. The first one with the axe showed just enough of the guys skull and the blood splatter that you knew what happened without being overly gory. Another great one was when Rachel stabbed Eli because he wouldn't take the sleeping pills. It is shown in an almost dream-like way, with the repeated stabbing/ Rachel saying "Take the pills" this really shows you the headspace Rachel was in at the time. She even says she hadn't slept in a long time up to that point, and it had driven her insane.

Someone mentioned the cinematography and how the movie was filmed. It does seem bizarre when it starts, but it also gives you a sense of their isolation along with how much time has passed. Since there is nothing that says how long they have been there, but at the beginning when they realize they are trapped, they talk about how they don't have enough supplies/toiletries to last very long. When they first get there and they have plenty and you see the full toothpaste tube and toilet paper, then subsequent shots show less and less as more and more time passes. It was sort a cool way to show how long they had been there without actually saying it. This was especially effective with relating to the characters because they didn't really know either. Also, the shots of nature and the trees showed you how isolated they were as well. At one point after they began to figure out they couldn't leave, the camera pulls out from the house to the tops of the trees to give a sense of that isolation as they are deep in the woods. I know many people didn't like the ending because they didn't explain it to you and wrap everything up with a neat little bow. YOU have figure out what was going on and why they were there and being kept there. Obviously someone owns the house and knew what was happening there, at one point Sam finds a bunch of pictures of other guests along with maps of the boundary similar to the one they had made meaning there had others there before that had gone through the same thing. However, it's not explained to the viewer which most psuedo-horror fans won't like because they lack the imagination to figure out for themselves what was happening.

There was also a mention of why they couldn't just take their car, they didn't have it. At the very beginning, when they are driving up, there was a large tree limb across the road so they couldn't drive any farther. They decided to go ahead and unload and walk the rest of the way, planning to come back for it later, but when Mike and Eli went to move it later on is when they discovered the boundary. Sam had gone first, while she was trying to get a signal, then suddenly ended up in the attic. Then when Eli and Mike went to move the car, Mike came running back screaming because Eli disappeared, only for him it also re-emerge into the attic. They couldn't get back to their car since it was on the other side of the boundary.

Keep in mind, this was done with a minuscule budget of $45,000. It relied on the psychological aspects rather than bog it down with CGI and special effects. For a low-budget horror movie, this was a pretty good one. I would definitely recommend it, as long as you know it's not going to explain everything to you and you have to use your own imagination and intelligence to really appreciate it.

Better than I thought it'd be
isaacrosario3 July 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Picked at random-ish.. definitely worth one watch.. sure there are some holes, mainly for me is how no one looked behind the bookshelf for months and the lack of panic. I enjoyed the movie though. Anyone have thoughts on how insects/bugs may play into the plot? There are a few random shots of insects in the movie and a few times where the camera angle made it look like the characters were tiny (as insects) walking through blades of grass. And there seemed to be a glare throughout the house where it could have been them being seen through a magnifying glass (like kids do to ants)..

A perfect waste of time
ritchie-9425124 July 2020
The start of the move left you feeling you walked half way into a conversation, there was no beginning as such - straight into a "horror" that had some suspense, but did not follow through.

I did spend the 90 minutes in suspense, then the ending happened, all foreplay and no climax!

The only redeeming aspect of this movie is the appreciation of a good one - when it comes along.

Amateur Hour
gezford9 December 2020
Everything about this film was terrible. The acting, the cinematography, the plot, the execution, all horrible. All of the "characters" had the personality of a used tea bag. The so called actors were stumbling over almost every line which had me shouting at the screen. And don't get me started on the ending. Oh the ending!! Avoid like the plague.

Total garbage

I could spend all day explaining why this film is total garbage but I won't. I will say the story is good but the constant drawn out scenes were way too long and redundant and the movie felt like an overall waste of time.

Starts out well, but fizzles a bit
johnhsmith-0005628 June 2020
The premise is interesting, and for all those people here complaining about it - I am not aware of any other movie with this same plot.

The only thing that bothers me is that there were still a lot of things that the people in the cabin could try in order to leave but they didn't. They didn't even discuss many obvious strategies. Instead the film was more focused on their fears in the situation. That's fine, but I wanted a bit more. And the ending leaves open too many questions.

What would you do??
Tat2dGothic2 December 2023
Warning: Spoilers
This one was actaully better than I thought it would be but it fizzles out towards the end and there was no explanation to why they couldn't leave. It started out strong but about halfway through it started fizzling out and left some seriously unanswered questions. Why was the cabin still available after other people had been through the same thing??? Why was this happening in the first place?? How long were they actually there before the last one could leave?? I really had high hopes and don't get me wrong, it was way better than I had hoped but there were still so many unanswered question that I just couldn't look passed them and give it a better rating.

Couldn't stop laughing
ordinarywonder-986678 March 2024
This movie is awful. As others have said, these actors are unconvincing and stumbling over their lines. The gore is unconvincing also and the acting is absolutely terrible. I actually laughed more for this movie than I have her a lot of comedies. The concept of the movie isn't bad it was just the execution of it. And for people who are stuck in a cabin with each other their behavior was not very realistic in terms of what was actually going on. I really wish this could have gone somewhere but dude with a man bun was so terrible that it was laughable. I was watching it at a friend's house and I didn't even want to watch the end.
