There's no screenplay credit listed on "Camgirl", probably a wise decision given that some serious writing mistakes mar this otherwise fairly effective Wicked release from Brad Armstrong.
Not one of his so-called "blockbuster" projects, it is a smaller-scale story of single mom and college student Kristen Scott struggling to make ends meet by doing XXX webcasts in the title role. She has a kindly landlady/babysitter very well played by the great Veronica Hart, and Brad himself has a fine little turn as her dad.
After some crowd-pleasing sex footage of her highly personal webcasts, including a showstopper Sapphic sex scene in which she shows wannabe Angela White how it's done, story turns toward melodrama as her hissable boyfriend Lucas Frost turns against her when his pals show him taped webcasts of her in action, blowing Scott's cover.
He finks on her to daddy, and gets his comeuppance at the hands of thuggish friends of Kristen's pal Honey Gold.
The final reels mix bad behavior, revenge and sentimentality in an unconvincing manner, spoiling the movie. Especially glaring is Scott's sudden seduction of one of the thugs (Small Hands) for no conceivable reason, other than providing sex filler that halts the movie's momentum.
Scott is a talented actress and hot in her XXX scenes as well, and deserved a better script.
