The newfound love towards TV shows that revolve around a specific profession is easily understandable: the viewers find it quite interesting to dive deeper into the world of professionals mastering their jobs and becoming praised by those around them.
There are many crime dramas or police procedurals that captivate the viewers with the complex stories, but the genre that really became one of the most favorite among the viewers is medical drama.
And while there are a lot of them, the most intriguing ones are those with quirky main characters, like The Good Doctor that follows the brilliant autistic surgeon Shaun Murphy. As the show nears its finale, it seems like the right time to find a replacement.
Here are 5 shows we think you’ll love if you are a fan of The Good Doctor in any of its aspects.

Tulsa King season 2 has now started shooting, and Deadline reports that Craig Zisk (Weeds) has signed on to direct and executive produce the Paramount+ series.
It was reported last year that showrunner Terence Winter would be stepping down from the series following some creative differences with creator Taylor Sheridan. However, he decided to come back as a writer for the second season, which would keep his interactions with Sheridan at a minimum.
While Winter is still involved as an executive producer, he will primarily focus on writing for the show as well as working closely with Sylvester Stallone. “He loves these characters and loved working with Sly and was glad his post-strike schedule allowed him to return to write but not run the show,” a source said. Instead of bringing in another showrunner, the production decided to follow in the footsteps of the other shows produced by Sheridan’s 101 Studios...

When you begin watching Palm Royale on Apple TV+ tomorrow, you'll be whisked back to the lively and colorful Palm Beach of the late 1960s courtesy of Abe Sylvia, whose creative mind brought it all together.
Sylvia created, writes, and directs Palm Royale, which almost defies genres. It's a comedic period piece starring Kristen Wiig as Maxine Simmons, a woman who takes her future into her own hands, desperate to cross the line between the haves and have-nots.
As Maxine brings her daring plan to extraordinary life, she discovers that the lives she wants to crash aren't all they're cracked up to be.
Sylvia has an unusual heroine in Maxine, who is as aggravating as she is understandable, and he's ensconced her in high society with many vibrant and sly women and men eager to both embrace Maxine and hold her at a distance, depending on their needs at the moment.

Seven years ago, Donald Glover won his first two Emmys, Best Comedy Actor and Best Comedy Directing for “Atlanta.” While he missed out on nominations last year for the final season of his FX series — he did receive a writing bid for “Swarm” — Glover is back in the hunt this cycle with “Mr. & Mrs. Smith.” Inspired by the Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie film of the same name, the spy series is competing in drama, which means Glover could become just the second man and third person to win lead Emmys in comedy and drama.
Carroll O’Connor is thus far the only male performer to have achieved this, having pocketed a record-setting four Best Comedy Actor Emmys for “All in the Family” in 1972 and three in a row from 1977-79 before adding a Best Drama Actor statuette for “In the Heat of the Night” in 1989. The flight was bombed 38 minutes after take-off, exploding over Lockerbie, Scotland, and killing all 243 passengers and 16 crew members.
“It was the worst-ever terror attack on British soil and the first major one on U.S. citizens,” Netflix and the BBC explained in a press release.
The outlets went on to reveal that the series will center around the attack and the ensuing investigation, a collaborative effort between American and Scottish intelligence agencies.

Sofie Gråbøl in the Danish TV hospital drama “The Shift.” Courtesy of MHz Choice
The Danish TV hospital drama “The Shift (originally Dag & Nat)”offers some interesting contrasts with our domestic fare. Ella (Sofie Grabol) stars as the chief midwife for the highest-rated maternity ward in the city. She’s single, in her 40s and besieged by problems on all fronts. The worst of them is the hospital’s money guy who consistently ignores her pleas and arguments to add staff for the sake of her overburdened crew and their patients. Several of the midwives and aides present an assortment of personal and professional issues to manage. She’s boinking a married doctor (Pal Sverre Hagen) on the down-low, and constantly worried about her public facility that serves the underclass losing colleagues to upscale private hospitals and clinics catering to the wealthy. Those places can pay more while working them less.

CBS has handed a straight-to-series order to Watson, from writer Craig Sweeny (Elementary), Aaron Kaplan’s Kapital Entertainment and CBS Studios, for the 2024-25 broadcast season. Morris Chestnut is set to play the title role and executive produce the medical drama inspired by the characters from Arthur Conan Doyle’s Sherlock Holmes mysteries.
Last January, CBS ordered two drama pilots, Elsbeth starring Carrie Preston and Matlock starring Kathy Bates, as well as writers rooms for two medical drama projects, Watson and The Pact.
In anticipation of a series pickup, CBS and CBS Studios recently attached Chestnut as the lead and Larry Teng as director and executive producer of the first episode, paving the way to a formal greenlight.

When filmmaker Catherine Hardwicke got the first draft of Twilight, she knew there was a problem. The script depicted Bella as a superstar athlete and ended with her in a chase with the FBI (on jet skis). “It had just gone out of control,” says Hardwicke. “I’m like, ‘No, no, no, that’s not what the book’s about. It’s about this incredible, impossible love and this yearning.”
Hardwicke wanted to ditch the script and get closer to the book by author Stephenie Meyer. Those instincts proved right. Fifteen years ago, on Nov. 21, 2008, Twilight became a surprise hit for low-key studio Summit Entertainment, grossing $408.4 million worldwide and instantly turning stars Kristen Stewart (Bella Swan) and Robert Pattinson (Edward Cullen) into global stars. It would spawn four sequels, with a TV reboot on the way.

If the long-gestating Weeds Revival gets the green light, another original star is interested in stepping back into the world of Nancy Botwin.
Elizabeth Perkins appeared in five of eight seasons during the show's initial run on Showtime.
In an interview with Variety, Perkins stressed that the new project was very much "talk" at this early stage in development.
The Afterparty Season 2 star admitted she would be ecstatic to get the opportunity to work with her former co-stars.
"I loved working with Mary-Louise Parker," she added.
"I love those two characters together, Nancy and Celia!"
Indeed, fans would be interested in checking back in with Celia, who was missing from the show's final three seasons.
By the end of Weeds' eight-season run, the series had changed so much that many of the original elements of the show were missing.

Although Edie Falco’s Emmy Awards history began with a successful Best Drama Actress bid for “The Sopranos” in 1999, she has since racked up more comedy nominations than drama ones. After receiving a comedy guest notice for “30 Rock” in 2008, she earned half a dozen lead ones for “Nurse Jackie” between 2010 and 2015, the first of which led to a win. Now, as a Best Comedy Supporting Actress contender for Peacock’s “Bupkis,” she could become the eighth entrant on the list of women who have earned recognition in every possible comedy Emmy category.
After “Nurse Jackie,” “Bupkis” is only the second comedy series on which Falco has played a regular role. Her character, Amy Davidson, is a fictionalized version of series star Pete Davidson’s own mother, who raised him and his younger sister as a single parent after her husband died during the 9/11 attack on the World Trade Center.

Bet you wouldn’t have picked BET as Paramount Global’s hottest commodity of 2023.
A few months ago, we all nearly performed a spit-take on our laptop screens upon learning that Paramount had rejected a $3 billion bid for Showtime. These days, bids rolling in for another Paramount Global brand, BET, started at — and have since eclipsed — that price point, a person with knowledge of the negotiations told IndieWire.
Paramount is actively soliciting bids for its BET group in what our source described as an organized multi-round auction process. Participants get access to each of the brand’s (otherwise undisclosed) revenue and earnings, apply their own multiples, and arrive at an independent value. The data is considered privileged and the potential buyers must sign non-disclosure agreements (NDAs).

Paramount+ and Showtime are coming together precisely one quarter earlier than expected. Paramount+ with Showtime will launch on June 27, Paramount Global said on Monday. Previously, the timing for the combination and rebrand was end of September — or the end of Q3, not Q2.
How much is one quarter worth? Well, in the first quarter of 2023 alone, this merger of services cost Paramount Global nearly $1.7 billion. In other words, it could be quite meaningful.
The Showtime Ott (over-the-top) app will be shuttered by the end of the year, Paramount said this afternoon. The linear channel will wait for that timing to rebrand with the same — though more confusing for the format — name: Paramount+ with Showtime.
As previously reported, Paramount+ with Showtime will cost $11.99 per month, up $2 from the tier’s prior pricing. The Paramount+ “Essential” plan (without Showtime) will go up $1 per month from $4.99 to $5.99.
“This summer, Paramount+ will officially become the streaming home for Showtime,...

Sequels, reboots, and revivals, oh my. Deadline has reported that Showtime is developing sequel series to Nurse Jackie and Weeds, which were once crown jewels of the network.
The sequels to Nurse Jackie and Weeds are still in the early stages of development, but Deadline hears that the prospective leads of each original series, Edie Falco and Mary-Louise Parker, are attached to star and executive produce the follow-ups. The original Weeds series starred Parker as a widowed mother who starts selling marijuana to support her family following the death of her husband. Nurse Jackie featured Falco as a pill-popping ER nurse and mother.
The Weeds sequel series would be written and executive produced by Christian Torpe, with the new story featuring Mary-Louise Parker’s character in Copenhagen. As for the Nurse Jackie sequel, it would be written and executive produced by Abe Sylvia and Liz Flahive, who worked on the original.

Showtime‘s new direction of spinoffs and revivals is underway as a Nurse Jackie and Weeds sequel is now in the works from Lionsgate Television. According to network reps, both series are in early development, with the original leads, Edie Falco and Mary-Louise Parker, set to reprise their starring roles with executive producer credits. Although the projects are still being negotiated, Nurse Jackie will be written and executive produced by Abe Sylvia and Liz Flahive, respectively, reenlisted from the original show. Meanwhile, Weeds will be written and executive produced by Christian Torpe, creator of the popular Danish series Rita, featuring the main character Nancy (Parker) in Copenhagen. A continuation of Weeds has been in the works for years, with a follow-up series previously announced in 2019 by writer Victoria Morrow. It was set to pick up with the Botwin family ten years after the events of the original series in an era of marijuana legalization.

Although her acting on her eponymous 11-season variety show was consistently overlooked by the TV academy, Carol Burnett has still racked up two dozen Emmy nominations and six wins over the course of six decades. Having just reached the age of 90, she is now on the verge of earning her first Best Drama Supporting Actress notice for AMC’s “Better Call Saul,” which would also be her first for a supporting or lead role on a non-sketch series. If she succeeds on this possible bid, she will set a new precedent as the first nonagenarian to ever win an acting Emmy.

Patricia Arquette is an Emmy favorite nowadays, and she’s not even “High Desert’s” most decorated performer. Between her, Brad Garrett (“Everybody Loves Raymond”), Rupert Friend (“Homeland”) and Bernadette Peters (“Ally McBeal”), the main cast of Apple TV+’s upcoming comedy series from “Miss Congeniality” writer Katie Ford and creative partners Nancy Fichman and Jennifer Hoppe-House has a total of 16 acting nominations and five wins.
Set in Yucca Valley, California, “High Desert” follows addict and former dealer Peggy Newman (Arquette), who decides to become a private investigator following her mother’s (Peters) death. Along Peggy’s hazardous journey toward self-discovery, she meets the uptight business owner who hires her (Garrett) and an anchorman-turned-desert-shaman (Friend). Other characters include her on-and-off parolee lover (Matt Dillon), best friend (Weruche Opia) and sister (Christine Taylor).

Edie Falco loves being a mom. The "Nurse Jackie" star has two kids - a son named Anderson and a daughter named Macy - whom she adopted in 2005 and 2008, respectively. While appearing on "Anderson" in April 2012, Falco said she felt an instant connection with her children when she first met them. "The second you are handed a newborn, it is yours," she said. "It doesn't matter what body it came out of. I've never felt more strongly about anything in my life."
In March 2018, she told Vulture that the urge to start a family came after being in a few serious relationships. "We were looking at marriage and then we were looking at kids, and then the relationship fell apart," she said. "If you're with someone you love and the idea of raising kids together feels fantastic, it starts to take root. So once the relationships ended, that was still alive in me.

Rick Cleveland is a successful and decorated longtime writer and producer who understands both sides of the WGA walkout that began Tuesday. He won an Emmy as a writer on “The West Wing” in 2000 and WGA Awards for “West Wing,” “Mad Men” and “House of Cards” in 2001, 2009 and 2014, respectively.
Cleveland took to Facebook yesterday to carefully explain, from his educated perspective, what’s behind and what’s at stake in the writers strike.
Seewga strikes for the first time in streaming era
“I worked on Netflix’s ‘House Of Cards’ in its first season as a writer and co-executive producer,” his Facebook post began. “This was after winning an Emmy for ‘The West Wing’ (shared with Aaron Sorkin) and working a series-long stint on ‘Six Feet Under’ and a two-year stint on ‘Nurse Jackie.’ The first offer from Netflix that came through my agent was for less money than I...

You may not readily group Cheryl Strayed with Elizabeth II, Elvis Presley or Annie Wilkes, but the self-help author could soon have at least one thing in common with them. If Kathryn Hahn (“Tiny Beautiful Things”) receives an Emmy nomination for playing a version of the role that nabbed Reese Witherspoon (“Wild”) an Oscar bid in 2015, Strayed will join that list of real and fictional personas whose depictions have garnered multiple actors awards recognition across media.
Two-time Emmy winner Merritt Wever could also crash the Best Movie/Limited Series Supporting Actress race for playing Strayed’s mother, a role that earned Laura Dern her second Oscar nomination. According to Gold Derby’s Emmy odds, the two are safer bets than the show itself, which has yet to crack the Limited Series top 10.
