Sex & Nudity

  • Students take their shirts off in PE for the skins team. Meanwhile, Fregley (not on the skins team) lifts up his shirt to show off his "secret freckle" which can gross viewers out a bit.
  • During a Gym wrestling match, Greg Heffley says "She's a girl, where do I grab her?!".
  • There is a scene when the boys get in the eldest brother's room and see an adult magazine with a woman wearing very revealing clothes sitting on a motorcycle in a suggestive way.
  • Same magazine mentioned before is shown a number of times for around 1 min when mother confronts the eldest son
  • There is a scene where Manny is on the potty while on he eats. No nudity is shown, however Greg looks at him and we hear him peeing for a second.
  • We see a few shots of middle school kids sitting on toilets
  • A classroom full of kids sing "Greg and Rowley sitting in a tree"
  • A character says in a fake language "I think Shelly is looking hot today"
  • The protaganist is seen wearing only his boxer brief in the opening of the flim.

Violence & Gore

  • In the Wizard of Oz play, the actors are seen throwing apples at each other.
  • Mild comedic violence.

Profanity

  • No swear words, mainly namecalling and mild words.
  • Crap is used twice. Rodrick uses it when asking Greg how his first day went (In the TV edit, it is replaced with "Queasy"), and is used by Greg in the beginning of the Halloween scene when he describes his thoughts on Candy Corn.
  • A little bit of name calling, some of it is played for comedic effect and it also remains mild at its worst, so nothing to actually be worried about here.
  • Freaking is used once
  • God is used three times
  • Shut up is used once
  • Idiot is used once. Moron is used a few times.

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • Sort of implied that multiple characters are high throughout the movie.
  • None

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • The lights turn off as Rodrick makes up a story in an attempt to scare kids about the "Devil Worshipper Woods". As well as the scene where Greg and Rowley cross through the woods at night and are frightened by an approaching shadow, which happens to just be their classmate as they run away. This is all played for comedic effect but could possibly be a bit frightening to some young viewers.
  • A group of teen misfits intimidate and chase Greg and Rowley.

Spoilers

The Parents Guide items below may give away important plot points.

Profanity

  • Towards the end of the movie, someone says, "You're so freakin' dead."
  • Some mild themes of bullying; a group of teenagers are rude to Greg and Rowley in one scene they spray them with water and chase them and in another they demand Rowley to eat a moldy piece of cheese off the ground, which he does. Also a couple other characters may seem to be portrayed somewhat as bullys.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • At the end is a somewhat-intense moment where a group of teen misfits force Rowley to pick up the moldy slice of cheese and EAT IT. He does so as Greg watches in disgust. Yep
  • In the dramatic sequence, Chirag talks about how people get "cheese touch". It shows a boy who touch the cheese, causing the middle school students panic and running for their lives.
