Back in 2022, we got word that Thor: Love and Thunder director Taika Waititi and frequent collaborator Jemaine Clement were in the process of developing a reimagining of Terry Gilliam's '80s sci-fi classic Time Bandits for Apple TV+ with Friends alum Lisa Kudrow set to star.
Now, we finally have a first look at the series thanks to EW's summer TV preview.
Kudrow will lead a cast that also includes Kal-El Tuck (Unseeing Evil), Charlyne Yi (Knocked Up), Tadhg Murphy (Conversations With Friends), Roger Jean Nsengiyumva (You Don’t Know Me), Rune Temte (Eddie the Eagle), Kiera Thompson (Martyrs Lane) and Rachel House (Heartbreak High).
Though specific plot details are still under wraps, the series is described as "a comedic journey through time and space with a ragtag group of thieves and their newest recruit: an eleven-year-old history nerd."

Following the success of their feature debut, the horror film Talk to Me, the directing duo of Danny and Michael Philippou signed on to make a new film adaptation of the Street Fighter video game franchise, started developing a Talk to Me sequel titled Talk 2 Me, and let it be known that they had already shot some sort of Talk to Me prequel (but it’s not clear if or when we’ll get to see that footage), had an action drama project they’d like to make, and also had a horror script called Bring Her Back that they wanted to get into production. Now Deadline has confirmed that Bring Her Back is heading into production and will be made before Talk 2 Me or Street Fighter, with two-time Oscar nominee Sally Hawkins of The Shape of Water and Blue Jasmine signed on to star in the film.

[This story contains spoilers from season seven, episode five of 9-1-1, “You Don’t Know Me.”]
A couple of months ago, 9-1-1 co-creator and showrunner Tim Minear reached out to actor Lou Ferrigno Jr. — who had guest-starred in three flashback episodes of the second season — about reprising his role as firefighter Tommy Kinard in the seventh season of the hit Fox-turned-abc first-responder drama.
Ferrigno Jr., who says he had nothing but fond memories of working with the writer and producer years ago, was instantly intrigued to learn that Minear was in the early stages of writing a multi-episode arc that would allow viewers to check back in with Tommy in the present. That storyline, as it turns out, would involve Evan “Buck” Buckley (Oliver Stark), the ostensibly straight character who would navigate his newfound attraction to Tommy in the landmark 100th episode, which aired last Thursday.

Jeremiah Duggar and his wife, Hannah, have welcomed their second baby. The couple, whose social media presence is fairly sparse, returned to Instagram earlier this week to announce the arrival of a baby girl. The announcement excluded details of their child’s birth. Still, it hints at the couple’s naming theme. Both of their children have names that start with B. They would only be the second Duggar couple, excluding Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar, to choose a specific letter as a name theme.
Jeremiah and Hannah Duggar announce the birth of their second daughter
Hannah announced her second pregnancy on Instagram in November 2023, just a month before her first child turned a year old. Unlike her first pregnancy, she waited until the third trimester to make the big announcement. She and Jeremiah opted not to share the gender of their second child with the world ahead of time.

In a recent YouTube video, Joy-Anna Forsyth opened up about her first kiss. Her thoughts on her altar smooch might surprise you.

The Australian horror film Talk to Me has already managed to become one of the most popular genre releases of the year. It has made almost $50 million at the global box office, generated a lot of positive word-of-mouth, and gotten praise from the likes of Steven Spielberg, Jordan Peele, and Peter Jackson. Bob Dylan is an excellent songwriter whose intimate and introspective lyrics managed to capture the hearts and minds of his audience. His ability to relate to any demographic allows him to translate other people’s lyrics and discern their true meaning. He said one song he enjoys covering has a troubling psychological truth, as he believes it could belong to a “serial killer.”
Bob Dylan said ‘You Don’t Know Me’ sounds like it’s a song about a ‘serial killer’
In Bob Dylan’s book The Philosophy of Modern Song, the American folk singer discusses the works of many other artists. One song he discussed is “You Don’t Know Me”, written by Eddie Arnold and Cindy Walker. Dylan started his discussion of the song by analyzing the track’s main character and the lyrics.

Whoopi Goldberg may be finding herself in more hot water on “The View”.
“The Color Purple” actress, 67, received backlash for branding “American Idol” as “the downfall of society” before retracting her statement amid a tense exchange with a “View” producer.
Goldberg and panel discussed the new Netflix documentary about Anna Nicole Smith, “You Don’t Know Me”, which analyzes the inner workings of the Playboy model’s life. Goldberg concluded that “people like to be judgey.”
“You have ‘Basketball Wives,’ you have the ‘Housewives’ of whatever, all the Bravo shows, giving you the impression that you’re doing something wrong because you’re living your life,” she further asserted.

“This may say a lot about our current culture of celebrity and media these days: all the major cable news networks switched over to non-stop live coverage this afternoon when word arrived that Anna Nicole Smith had died,” we hear an archival Brian Williams report in the opening segment of Anna Nicole Smith: You Don’t Know Me. The tabloid sensation died at age 39 on Feb. 8, 2007. Williams’ implication persists 15 years later, evolving still as new players enter the scene. All the same, Anna Nicole Smith remains a modern icon. She weaved a life’s tapestry that became a blueprint for celebrity fame in the early 21st century. She was also one of the first superstar casualties of the 24-hour news cycle.
It was Anna Nicole’s job to be iconic. That’s why her Guess? Jeans image persists to this day. Smith captured the mood of the 1990s. That 1993 Miami photoshoot...

Over the last several years, the documentary space has increasingly explored a topic that director Ursula Macfarlane and producer Alexandra Lacey say it never would have even just 10 years ago: wronged women.
“This film wouldn’t have been made in this way even five years ago — certainly, not 10 years ago,” doc director Ursula Macfarlane tells The Hollywood Reporter.
But for the new Netflix documentary, Anna Nicole Smith: You Don’t Know Me, she and producer Alexandra Lacey weren’t necessarily aiming to redeem a woman who had been wronged by the media and society. “It was important for us to show that it wasn’t a redemption story. It’s much more complicated than that,” the director explains. “She had agency, but it wasn’t straightforward.”
Instead, the film — which dropped May 16 on the streamer — interrogates Smith and her journey from Houston to the arms of billionaire J. Howard Marshall...

Onyx Collective has boarded Candice Carty-Williams’ buzzy British drama series Queenie.
Disney Entertainment’s brand has joined Channel 4 in the UK on the show, which the British network ordered back in August 2021. Onyx Collective curates global stories from artists of color with a culturally specific point of view, which aligns with Carty-Williams’ story.
Queenie will air in the UK and Ireland on Channel 4 and stream exclusively on Hulu in the U.S., Star+ in Latin America and Disney+ in all other territories. Steve November’s Further South Productions is attached to produce in association with Lionsgate TV, which has international sales rights, and cast has also been set. Shooting began in late April.
Writer Carty-Williams is emerging as one of the UK’s most sought after new scribes. Netflix last year boarded her BBC series Champion, which is billed as “a love letter to Black British music.”

Anna Nicole Smith: You Don’t Know Me telegraphs its intentions loud and early. The documentary’s subject, the buxom blonde Guess and Playboy model who became a cultural caricature before dying from an accidental drug overdose in 2007 at age 39, was misunderstood. The forces that created her also destroyed her. Shame on us. You could program You Don’t Know Me in a double feature with Pamela: A Love Story, another recent Netflix documentary about a sex symbol laid low by the public that made her famous.
You Don’t Know Me largely adheres to its playbook.

Anna Nicole Smith: You Don’t Know Me is a documentary directed by Ursula Macfarlane about the life of Anna Nicole Smith and her years in stardom until her tragic death.
Anna Nicole Smith was a Texan girl who became an icon of American culture in the 1980s. In the wake of Marilyn, her story is also that of a woman with overwhelming sexuality criticized by traditional America and exploited by the media. . This documentary takes us back to his origins and tells us about the path she undertook to become a brilliant star with a profoundly popular style that was able to dazzle the masses.
It was precisely her ability to connect with people and her image as a stunning blonde that points her out as an heir to the iconic style that, not only, but no one knew how to promote better than Marilyn.

“The phrase ‘Rest in Peace’ means absolutely nothing, unfortunately, when it comes to Anna Nicole Smith.” So says a news anchor in a clip from not long after Anna Nicole Smith’s death by overdose at 39. And though Netflix’s Anna Nicole Smith: You Don’t Know Me does not make clear which of the many rumors and legal battles the reporter might be commenting on, the existence of this very documentary would seem to prove her point.
Sixteen years after her passing, we still cannot look away from this model turned punchline. Her life and death have been the subject of an opera and a TV movie, with a feature film reportedly on the way. Her iconic Guess photoshoot was resurrected for a 2021 ad campaign (with the rather creepy slogan “Did you miss me?”). Not all the attention is nefarious. Must-watch comedy series, eye-opening documentaries and an expansion of the “Bridgerton” universe are among the noteworthy additions to Netflix this month. May 12 sees the premiere of Jennifer Lopez’s new Netflix original film “The Mother,” in which she plays an assassin lured back in for one last job. “Queen Charlotte,” the “Bridgerton” prequel series, arrives on May 4 while a new season of Tim Robinson’s sketch series “I Think You Should Leave” drops on May 30. Netflix recently announced it would be investing $2.5 billion into South Korean programming. Before Squid Game season 2 comes down the pike, however, the first seeds of that investment will bear fruit for Netflix in May 2023.
Netflix’s list of new releases for May 2023 is highlighted by the May 12 release of Korean series Black Knight. Set “in a dystopian 2071 devastated by air pollution,” this show will follow world-saving deliverymen known as “Black Knights.” Other international offerings this month include Japanese sumo drama Sanctuary on May 4 and Spanish crime thriller Muted on May 19.
Netflix’s domestic TV options this month include Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story on May 4. That will be followed by post-apocalyptic animated comedy Mulligan on May 12 and Arnold Schwarzenegger’s TV debut Fubar on May 25. And for those hoping for “triples,” I Think You Should Leave with Tim Robinson premieres on May 30.
On the movie side of things, Netflix has an unusually busy month.

As part of its Tuesday panel at the Television Critics Association 2023 winter press tour, Masterpiece has announced two new projects including a biographical series about Noele “Nolly” Gordon starring Helena Bonham Carter and “Moonflower Murders,” the follow up project to “Magpie Murders,” are in the works for the network.
“Nolly” tells the story of the British soap opera legend whose unceremonious firing from her hit show at the height of her career was front-page news. As one of the most famous faces on British TV in the 1960s and ’70s, Gordon is described as a woman who refused to play by the rules and ultimately transformed into a forgotten icon after the industry turned on her. Carter will star in the titular role.
“Doctor Who” showrunner Russell T. Davies penned the script. “Nolly” marks the first production from Nicola Shindler’s new production company Quay Street Productions, which is part of ITV Studios.
