Truly romantic love story!

I love the story of Pride and Prejudice and this musical really makes me love it even more! The casting is spot on! I love the music and the lyrics. I keep watching it over and over again because I am stressed out by world events and this musical is bringing me to a better happier time. I am so glad that I found this! Thanks so much to the talented writer and cast!

I'm sorry to be harsh, but...

I fast forwarded through most of the production. Most of the songs were belted out like kids yelling across a playground. So, I decided to fast forward through the songs...and then the dialogue became such a mixture of early 19th Century vernacular mixed with 21st Century attitude, that I finally just went to the end...stopping for a few moments to see Catherine DeBurgh, hearing her yell out another number and reaching for the remote.

Done. Over. Relief!

Marriage hater?
faithfetty17 January 2021
It was good except they made Lizzy say she hated the idea of marriage? She's headstrong and didn't want to be married off to just anyone, but she wasn't against it in the book. Otherwise 9 stars!

Just awful
claudia_hero2 April 2021
I am a huge Jane Austen fan. I believe during Lizzie's solo belting out " I'm headstrong!" I heard Jane Austen roll in her grave. So awful. Boring songs , poorly cast, no one could sing. I tried really hard to like it but got 10 minutes in and had to turn it off.

WHAT A BOP

I went into this with low expectations but came out with a new favorite film. This musical is fun, entertaining, and (as mentioned above) contains some BOPS. I'm looking at you Mr. Darcy 😏 If you love Jane Austen as I do, stop what you are doing and watch this IMMEDIATELY. This is a game changer. Also the Kristoff from Frozen Live at the Hyperion in DCA is in this so that is a fun bonus! Jane Austen is clapping from heaven at this production.

The Musical - The Best Show since Firth and Ehle
odona-114 February 2021
My wife and I wandered into this gem and found it one of the most beautiful portrayals of Jane Austin's best work since Colin and Jennifer made it our favorite miniseries ever... years ago.

This musical is one that I wish we could have seen in person on Broadway--it's possible that could have happened without Covid... but to all Austen fans... it is a must see!

Next step... buy the sound track!

I look forward to seeing more from these fine actors and actresses in the future!

"I love her eyes"
As a HUGE Jane Austen fan, this musical had been on my watch list for a long time. While I knew the story, I didn't really know what to expect about this adaptation tuning in. It felt a little cringey in the beginning, but once I got into the rhythm of it, I didn't mind those awkward moments. I think it really picked up when Mr. Collins entered the stage. (Why wouldn't it though, right?) At times certain songs went on a little long for me, so I was grateful for the opportunity to fast forward. However, certain songs stayed in my head long after I was listening. The musical does a great job of including original lines from the book. I also like how Lizzie becomes the narrator and takes on an Austen quality too.

I wish Jane could see this

I love Pride and Prejudice and I love musicals, and this show was 10/10 for each. It has all the best parts of the original story, along with some new interpretations that make the characters' motivations more understandable.

Really great music, voices, and acting. Lots of humor, too, both original lines from the book and a few great additions. I can imagine Jane Austen watching it with me, not understanding any of the more modern music, but loving the way her story comes to life on stage.

I've watched it twice so far and will watch it many more times -- the music is so beautiful, and the songs fit each part of the story so well.

California pretends to sign Austen
kmontgomery-9851529 January 2021
Oof I didn't even finish this. It's a Palo Alto / silicon Valley production which is quite clear from the accents pretending to be British. Some of the actors are playing for the back in the traditional musical sense while others are taking it quite seriously. The difference between a Californian sarcasm in Caroline versus attempted earnestness in Elizabeth Bennett doesn't work ... even in song. I'm sure this was a fun musical to go see your friend be in and have a night out in the town, but it's not worth watching for the rest of us.
